I'm signing up for a witchcamp called Avalon Springs, and I am very excited, what i'm wondering is if anyone else is signing up for a witchcamp, or something like that.

That looks really neat! I hope you have fun! 3nodding I'm currently enrolled at the Grey School online. I haven't gotten past the required introductory courses yet (I procrastinate on homework not even for regular college!) but so far the setup and community is awesome. heart

Sweet Jesus, I must resist the urge to do ethnographic research in one of these places.

I'd be very interested to learn of it.

Ah... it'd be interesting to go to one of these. I'm not a big fan of much of Starhawk's work, but her Earth Path is one of my absolute favorites. She puts the Nature-centered back into Neopaganism. Totally my brand of stuff. whee

But due to my major in college (religion) I've had to attend various religious gatherings and events and essentially write mini-ethnographies on them. Pentecostal, Catholic, Baha'i (actually spent a year and a half on that one, weekly), Mosque, Unity, Unitarian Universalism, Hare Krishna, Synagogues (reform and conservative), etc. My most indepth one was over Wiccans in the city I live in. Unfortunately it wasn't very hands on research at all, since the meetup I went to was eerily empty. gonk

I could go to a eight or so week workshop thing on OoBE and AP stuff thats being held not too far from were I live, but like most things, I don't have high expectations of what I'll learn, relatively speaking. I'm under the impression that the Avalon Springs thing is online.
On the subjects of different religions, being raised with a whole Krishna Conciousness thing was pretty cool, and I've not a nice 'relative' for what I consider weird too.... Universal Universalism (The Borg): "Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated". I've only caught Trek shows between flipping channels but does anyone actually not get that?
Minorly related to something here but...does anyone remember the animal for Huffelpuff in Harry Potter?

I major in Social Anthropology, so I'd study the social environment of those particular religious groups.

Too bad I'm a senior now that I discovered it. D: I'm keeping the options open for grad school, though. whee

a**l Jesus Is Grey School any good? I read about it in one of my books. I can't really make much of a judgment call on it yet since I'm procrastinating and haven't gotten past the introductory courses. The community is nice, though, and so is the way it's set up. 3nodding
