Where were all the food? Kudu? Antelope? Gazelle? Zebra? Hares? Field Mice? Even a bird. Frankly, he was not all that hungry, actually, he had his fills before he headed back to Mwana. This time, he had left her in a good sheltered place. With Fuku with her and she being one of maternal instincts, surely she could take care of herself while he was away. Honestly, he was glad to be at the moment, he had never expected a female to have such violent switches of emotions. Mwana's pregnancy was the first he had ever experience. Before, when he was a rogue, he had experienced many pregnancies, being the cause of them, he had never saw the females after the initial conception and then again after the cubs were born. Having seeing how females were in such a state, he was glad he didn't!

He loved Mwana, she was someone who he could see himself with. Sure there were bumps here and there, but what sort of relationship did not have those? Sooner or later, they'll be happy mates. However, for now, he was still single... at least for the most part, that was how he saw himself. Never before had the thought of being bound to a female crossed his mind. Not this early, he had promised himself long ago that he would only mate again when he found that special someone who shared his pains and likes and dislikes and more so, able to keep him restrained. Being one of sudden acts of violence when angered, he hardly had friends and those who tried were pushed away. The only ones who were able to get his atentions were those that got him feeling pity or ones he saw worthy of his friendship, usually those who could possible survive a beating from him. However, only a few caught his dull green eyes.

He was out for a hunt with nothing to show for it, so it was time to head back. Another argument with Mwana was sure to follow...

A thump and rustle in the grass sounded out, easily missed perhaps. A body as tan as the grass around it struggled with something large, a growling hiss exploding from fustration.

Ushukuru was a sad sight as he struggled with the carcass before him. Dirty, ragged, covered now in blood from the kill, he didn't look much like the prince he used to be. Life on the trail was hard and unkind to the young male, who had never had to face such hardship before. Of course, his inner turmoil hadn't helped matters... he'd had very little to eat since he'd left his once-home, and only desperation had driven him to this... a kill that wasn't even his.

Sighing, Ushu dropped the kill and grabbed it with a paw, struggling to turn it over. An over-large zebra, all the meat left was on the bottom, and he had a devil's time getting to it without turning the carcass over. His strength seemed to have left him and finally he cried out in frustration and smacked it, falling over onto his side and laying there, sides heaving. "Stupid thing..." He sighed.

The large lion was not far when he heard the cry. Curious, any object or predator around could be a threat to him, Mwana, and the groupie female that he had told to follow them. Whomever it was, was a threat regardless of who it was. With a loud roar, he charged toward the noise. A few heavy strides took him directly to where the cry sounded.

A lion laid before him bloodied beside a half eaten zebra.

Trigger eyed him and then the meal, he was not hungry, but what the hell was going on? With a growl, yet still containing his regal intimination, he snarled at him.

"Who are you and what are you doing out here?"

It was almost as if these lands were his, in a way, it was. As long as Mwana was upon it, it was gonna be his for the while until they moved on. Any upon "his" land was trespassing on his accord until they were able to clear their name. Irrational, but who could be up to risk the lives of a litter, in fact, two, and the very same females who were carrying them?

Trigger was not ready to have two dead upon his carelessness.

Perhaps he was simply being over protective, but it was better safe than sorry.

The roar took him by suprise, jerking a squeak from him as he jumped to his paws and spun around. When he came to a stop, his paws were braced wide, his head and ears low, his eyes wide as he stared at the stranger that had burst into his area. He hadn't been doing anything wrong, so his first thought was that the male was here to steal his kill. Well... he was hungry, but he was in no shape or mood for a fight. Let the guy have the stupid thing... he could reach the good meat anyway.

"Hey! You want it, you can have it... I'm not looking for trouble!" He called as he backed up slowly, rather intimidated by the big, powerful looking male. Circle, was this how the world was outside the Pridelands? Where all rogues like this? He always knew rogues were brutes, but to see one in person, that was something else. "Please... I don't want to fight..."

The prince's tail tucked between his hind legs as he felt them brush the grass, knowing he'd be safe in a few more steps.

Trigger growled as he started to make heavy steps toward the kill. What sort of rogue would let go of prime food like this? Especially in a place that held hardly any food, at least none he could find. With another roar, he hoped to make the damn lion piss himself by how he was acting. Damn, what sort of hole did this one crawl out of. Perhaps he could calm down a little, but his guard will always be up as long as he saw this male as a threat to the two litters and the two females that were in the area.

"I asked for your damn name, female," he taunted before taking a glance down at the kill again. "I do not want something I did not kill myself. Take it. What sort of male gives up so easily? A coward? No, at least a coward would make the effort to talk back to an attacker,"

With a mighty scoff, the massive lion settled himself down into a setting position while the continuous growl rolled deep inside. He was not much in a mood for a fight, but he will if the situation called for it. Slowly, he took in this lion's features. He was still youthful, but his body showed great potential to become a great male, a great lion that would demand a female to be by his side, but by how he was acting, he was walking down a path that may not ever lead to that. He wasn't very assertive to keep his kill.

At times, Trigger is capable of being a total a**, but all of this was out of protection of those he cared about. A flash of his fangs should give a quick message.

Ushu's head jerked up in indignation as the other seemed to take over the space, even though he refused to take the kill. And calling him female, when he was obviously not, was just too much.

"Hey! Who are you to speak to me like that?" He growled as he stopped retreating, drawing himself up and squareing his body. "You demand my name, but in such a way, why should I give it to you? You don't even offer a name back! And just because I chose to retreat instead of fight, doesn't make me a coward! That makes me smart." He humphed, flicking his tail out from between his legs.

Feeling defiant, and hoping against hope that the other didn't decide to suddenly attack him, Ushu stook a bold step forward and stopped, lifting his head and sticking out his chest. "Since I have manners, I'll answer your question. My name is Ushukuru and I'm just passing through. May I ask what your name is?"

"I am a Firekin, I am sure you have heard of that pride. We show no mercy to the likes of anyone who does not dwell in our deserts or has not," he snarled and stood up against him in a form of challenge. It seems this one had the nerve to stand up to a brute naturally taller than he was. He looked down with dull, deceiving eyes. He had some nerve, but how much may prove how much worth he may be to anyone.

That is if he doesn't run away.

"Trigger, remember it while you can, whelp. I do not take well to those who cross me," he glanced down at the zebra kill and made a strike breaking it nearly in two. Luckily, most of the blow was against bone and not mass of fat, meat, and bone itself. He grabbed one half and held it out to him. "Using your head is pointless if your body cannot back it up. I can say I will kill you, but if I am a small cub, I can't do a damn thing about it. However, if I said I will kill you, you can already tell that I can and I will if you step out of my line," he dropped the kill before this other male in another form of defiant challenge.

"Ushukuru, it sounds like a pansy's name. By how you acted, you surely are not a rogue. You must have came out from some pathetic hole in the ground like a darn, feeble maggot. Stand up straight, keep your eyes on me, do not falter, and talk boldly or hold your damn tongue," he commanded before he turned his back away.

"A rogue's life isn't for the weak of heart, try to be bold and brave, but if you can't protect yourself or your food, then you will starve and die. It is either die fighting or die hurtled up some stink hole starved. How about you use your head about that one, Ushukuru."

Ushu huffed as the other male challenged him, his words caustic and rude. How dare he? What was his problem?

The young male's eyes widened as he identified himself as a firekin, one of that evil pride that lived north of his homeland. The baby-stealers and murdered, the enslavers... This was one of those? A trembling started deep inside him, but he refused to back down now. Running would only encourage the male to attack.

"Look, I don't know who you think you are, but I don't care for your attitude. I havn't done anything to you, I'm no threat, so you need to get out of my face." He growled. His pride was starting to p***k him, his head heating up and making him near fearless. "Trigger, huh? If you're a firekin, what are you doing down here? This isn't your desert, you don't rule here. A days travel from here, the Pridelanders rule, and there I'm..." He stumbled as he was about to burst out with his princely heritage, but couldn't bring himself to say it. That wasn't his life any more... he'd left that behind. Instead, his face fell into a deep frown and he snorted through his nose. "Look, I don't want a fight, ok? I'm just trying to get by... to survive."

He kept his back turned to the male.

"I had abandoned that God foresaken hell spawned place when I killed my father. I had abandoned my name, but still it curses me with its presence as that cursed blood runs thick inside me. If it were not for my Pride Lander heritage, I would have already killed you blindly, be thankful for that, whelp," he scoffed and got up to move around again.

"This may not be my territory, but I am protecting those I care for. You are too close for my comfort. Any male could come and kill them for all I knew. Anything. Anyone. Will be considered a threat to these two females and their litters, I will protect them as one of them is my own. I have sired many but this shall be the first I will father, I will not be a coward and back away from such a duty that requires me. I have lived a long life as a rogue, living for myself and none other," he smirked a bit. "You remind me when I was just starting out. A foolish idiot who's bold pride only got his tail handed to him time and time again."

Trigger moved away from him.

"If you plan to stay around here, I suggest you convince me why I should even allow you this close to the females I am watching over," little did Mwana know that he was doing such a thing. If she did, he was in for another argument with a pregnant female he was not prepared or wanting to have. As long as Adia was pregnant and around, he will protect her. Luckily, both were many moments away.

"Do not be too bold, might get you hurt."

Ushu sighed to himself as the male turned away, relieve that he seemed to be backing off, if not backing down. He really didn't want to get into a fight with a big, stronger, older male, but Circle... he was rude, flip flopping worse than a fish.

"I'm not looking to get into anyone's way. You have my word that I mean no harm to any of your group, and if I can help it, I won't even come within sight of them." The thought of pregnant females sent a stab of guilt through him, reminding him of his own situation. His reasons for leaving his home. The tan male's face fell a little and he ducked his head.

"I'll move on as soon as I finish eating, so don't worry that I'll be anywhere near your females." It struck him as rather odd too, that Trigger would jump from calling him a coward to telling him he was too bold. Ushu wished he'd just make up his mind... crazy lion.

"I'm holding you to your word, Ushukuru, you may tread, but tread lightly. I find any of them harmed, I will be heading for you, you will see I am not as kind as I was today,"

Kind... well, that certainly wasn't something to describe what he can be. A beast was the best to describe it. A fit of blind rage to place anything into rubble. Lives were easily at stake. He wasn't discriminant toward friend or foe, they were just other obstacles to be knocked down and kept down. When Trigger was angered, he made sure everyone knew about it.

"Moto'Vianzio, remember that name. You have my trust... for now," with another scoff, he headed off. Without a meal, he could only hope that Mwana would simply fall back to sleep to conserve her energy so he could just carry her for a bit.

Without another word, the massive lion left, his shoulders peeking over the tall grass, slowly fading into the distance like a shadow melding into darkness.

This lion... he seemed interesting.

Ushu frowned but said nothing as Trigger rambled on, finding him confusing and rough edged... but at least his reasons for it were noble. When he turned to go, the younger male almost sighed in relief, till he realized that half the zebra was still there.

Bouncing forward, he darted to the edge of the grass. "Hey, Trigger!" He called. "Aren't you going to take the half of the zebra? You've got a pregnant female... I... I heard they eat a lot. There isn't much here, and I'm sure she'd appreciate the meat..." His voice faded and he wondered why he even bothered. If he didn't take the emat, then more for him... but something prompted him to make the offer.
