So, I graduate soonish and I need monies and stuff. I speak German, French, Spanish and English, which means I over-qualify for a GM job on US servers and on EU servers. Taking a job would mean that I could work at a Blizzard GM office, which comes with an apartment that's paid for, a really nice salary, and full health insurance.
Thoughts? I've been talking with a few GMs and have been exchanging e-mails with a few upper-ranking employees with Blizzard about it, and they all say that I would be a good candidate for the job, and would be welcome to work there.

A place to live, health insurance and good pay? Sounds awesome and you should go for it if that's what you wanna try for...
But think on this.. Is all of the above worth it to deal with so many ******** that play this game? 'cause there are a lot of us. lol

No.
The only thing worse than a customer service job is an online customer service job.

Only if you tell me what part of The Missing Diplomat quest I'm on because the GMs have been giving me the run around telling me that I finished it. when I did not and I know for a fact that I didn't.

GM's get paid decent amounts, but the problem is, is that you follow strict codes and whatnot. In the end, you're just like an answering machine. Me, being a private server GM, I would know.
Plus, GM's are... well... GM's. There isn't much advancement when it comes to that. You don't really get any direction in life except maybe online customer service experience and overall working years.

vente_sparda I dont think being a GM will actually pay you anything. Game Masters are Blizzard employees, of course they're paid. Salaries are typically 10-15$ an hour at 40 hours a week, and 1.5x pay for time extra. http://www.blizzard.com/jobopp/customer-service-representative-tx.shtml If you're just looking for steady cash and don't mind customer relations, I recommend call-centers or telemarketing. The pay and idiot quotas are approximately the same, but flexible hours and work-at-home setups are easier to come by. Submit a resume. If you're qualified, go from there. Blizz has stringent screening for all of its customer service; game masters are the most visible and personal.

Well, one of my friends is a gm and he says its fun, but yeah, the 12 year-olds get annoying, as do the 40 year-olds who act like 12 year-olds xp . He also says that the majority of gms are volenteers lol. So if thats what ya want to do have at it! 3nodding

You'll have to ask yourself if you play this game for fun or do you play because it is like work or a career? If you answer the latter, then go ahead and take the GM job because once you do you will no longer have the luxury of playing for fun while on the clock as a GM. Customer service will be your primary responsibility as a GM, not any of the actual activities in game. If you raid or do arena, be prepared to reschedule all of that around "work" ^_^

Being a GM can't be THAT difficult, especially since most of GM's answer's are macro's.

Kayariy What are the requirements to be a WoW GM, anyway? You get paid more the more languages you know. If I moved to Europe and worked at their Paris center (I've had offers), my salary would be pretty nice since I'm fluent in French, Spanish, German, and English.
