Senatla learned her lesson, she thought, about wondering off. Apparently, as she looked around and saw no one, she had not. This was not done just for wandering off, she knew where her 'pride' of sorts was, but she was off on her own. As much as she loved being around Kamaria and Roho, she still felt that something was missing.
This something, she needed to find on her own thats why she was out in the lonely rogue lands voluntarily away from her group. She could find them again, that she had no doubt, but here she could also find something, what she wasn't sure. Looking around, she sighed lightly and started towards shade, every time she did that, she found someone new, but or because of, the heat and pounding sun demanded she do so. Her darker reddish-brown coat got very uncomfortable very quick.
Keeping on the alert for others, she picked up her trotting pace and started for the rocky formation, small but there was room it appeared for her to lay in the coolness for a bit before she got moving again.

Someone was watching her from the thicket, piercing eyes narrowed in thought. The bushes did not stir unless stirred by the wind and as long as the wind remained on his side, he was as good as invisble. He had smelt her scent on the wind a few moments and taken care to hide himself in case it was someone out looking for him.
Now, however, he realised he was wrong. She was just a rogue like him seeking shade. She didn't have the right build for an assassin, nor the awareness of his surroundings that his kind had.
However, now the question was this: what should he do? What it be better to show himself, risking scaring the life out of her, or should he slink off? No, no he couldn't just get up and go, that might scare her even more if she caught sight of him fleeing.
So slipping from the thicket, shaking brambles from his mane, he padded across the the rock formation, grunting an acknowledgement.
"In the eye of the--" No, not that, not this time. He had to leaver traditions behind him, traditions burned into his mind. He sighed, this was going to be harder than he thought.
"H-hello." The sound was spoken awkwardly, half-heartedly, as if he were unsure of what he was saying. "Seeking the shade also?" He waved a paw in its general direction.

She had no idea anyone was around. Moving unaware that eyes were upon her, the lioness continued to her goal. The sound of leave and stick moving is what stopped her dead in her steps. Frozen in mid motion, her front left paw left suspended inches from touching the ground. Ears perked, she searched for the source of the unexpected sound. Another softer one was picked up, and because of traveling with Roho, she had equated to a mane shaking. Maybe it was grass, with no scent to go by, it was hard to tell.
The appearance of the large black furred male, his light almost clayish colored mane that she could not seem to find a word for the color, told her she was right. Placing her paw down she tried to think of where Kamaria and Roho were, very unsure of how to deal with this male on her own. All the things that had been said about rogue males, it was disconcerting. Then when he attempted to say something, she looked slightly confused once he stopped and assumed it was some sort of pridal greeting. He was a new rogue, she thought to herself.
Hearing someone speak as she often did gave her a perspective on how those she had met must have thought after hearing her speak. With his dark pelt, worse than hers for the sun, she was not surprised he was looking for it as well.
With a nod, she stepped forward, uncertain but feeling that maybe, if she was more friendly then he might be more at ease, like how the calmer lionesses she had come a crossed made her feel less awkward even if she still felt she didn't know enough about conversing with others properly. "Greetings, yes, I was searching for the shade. Out here in this unforgiving rogue lands, it can be hard to find, but at least where there is shade, or water, the other is usually close to be found." She was attempting to be nice, still thinking he was new and wanting to give a little advice she had learned after living rogue on her own for so long.

He tried his best to relax and eased himself slowly into the shade, forcing back a sigh of relief. It was instant protection from that terribly hot sun. He nodded, grateful that she didn't seem to mind his presence. Then after a moment he realised he should probably say something.
"Are you from around here? I'm not near a Pride's lands am I" He looked around twitchily, nervously. He was trying his best to avoid big groups in case the assassins that were after him questioned them and discovered which way he was going.
He beat his tail against the ground and shifted to give her more room to seat herself. "Sorry, I'm a stranger to these parts. Not knowing makes me...nervous."

She waited a few moments, and then pressed herself forward, finding a spot for her own sun-baked pelt. Her violate eyes hardly left the dark furred lion, but not out of suspicion, she just thought it was right to look at the one you’re talking to while doing it. It was also a habit to make sure the other is still there from almost a life time of there being no one.
She smiled first then looked out east, trying to remember. "Unless I miss my guess, I believe the Pride lands are still a journey longer from here, two days or such at a reasonable pace." She gazed at him, and miss interpreted his distressed look and tried to reassure him, "Don't worry, its not a bad trek, and unlike the firekin, they aren't an aggressive, violent pride from what I know, although, I have never been there myself. I also think they are bordered with a few other prides, but I avoid that area for the most part, there is enough room for us rogues to be without needing to go into pride territory, unless for food." The only pride lands she walked near and knew it was the ocean pride and that was a brief time ago. Who knew, she might have hunted on pride land and had gotten very lucky to get away.
Now, she told him, "I have lived out here nearly my whole life, I can't even tell you what pride I came from or where. Its not so bad, if you have strong survival instincts. Some rogues," She recalled her initial worry, about him as she added, "Can be a worse enemy then the sun and loneliness. However, you can normally tell an aggressive one pretty well; besides, I don't think anyone would mess with you." That was a compliment from her, he looked strong and able to defend himself, unless he had a kill and the other was very hungry, she doubts anyone would try and antagonize the male.
With a smile, she told him, "I can tell you just about anything you want to know, just ask and I'll do my best." Socially, she was lost, constantly looking for signals of proper behavior, but this land she knew.

(( eep sorry, this subforum moves too fast ;o; ))
He nodded, making a mental note not to go anywhere near them. He had to stay hidden from big groups, had to keep a low profile. He was even thinking of changing his name. Better to fall into shadow, keep his head down and move onwards without a pause.
"You seem to know a lot about this area, can't say I've been here much myself. I'm planning to stick to roguelands as much as possible, not comfortable with big crowds." He shifted, flexing his claws to scrape grooves in the dirt.
"I dont mind the solitude much, in fact, being by myself seems to suit me, though it's always nice to stop and have a chat." He nodded. "I tend to keep out of sight from others, friendly or not. You caught me at a social time it seems." He smiled, though the expression was soft.
"Have you seen any other rogues wandering these lands? A batch of them travelling together?" His heart hammered, was he being to obvious?

ooc: I understand, I started just using the links in my journal to find my rps and check them.
IC: Senatla didn't understand completely, but thought it was possible he just had enough with groups for a while. Before saying anything, she sat silently listening intently. Hearing that she had caught him in at a good time lit up her expression completely, it was great to meet others, even more so when they wanted to be met.
Watching him eyes not trained to spot the tiniest movement and use that information, she had no idea he was nervous or verging on a bit distressed with the question that meant nothing more to her then the surface of the words themselves. Speaking finally, she told him with her comfortable assumptions, "You may find that you change your mind eventually, but this is a good place to get away from the prides for a while. Having grown up here, I am tired of always being alone, it leaves a sense of vulnerability and hunting is a whole lot harder. However, there is a sense of vanishing out here." She had never been found by someone looking for her, always stumbling upon others instead.
She couldn't help by chuckle a little, but it was a warm action, "This is the rogue lands, apply named, there are lots of rogues out here. I tended to avoid the lions, but I have met a few lionesses and even a leopard just recently. Its easy to avoid others if you don't want to be near them, something you pick up early on, your only likely to find others around the watering holes and dense shade. Most lions want to be by themselves like you. The only group I know of is the one I am in, and there is just me and two others." Those were rare, and she knew they would stand out in this lonely land. Had she found one earlier, she wasn't sure she'd have the guts to approach them. Kamaria came alone to her, which was a whole lot less terrifying then a group.

"Perhaps." He smiled, it would be good to feel like part of a community again, to feel a part of something bigger. It was hard going it alone, walking with only your shadow for company. The days seemed to drag, slip into one another so quickly that he had lost track of time. There was promises of only more traveling and solitude, days become so similar that sometimes he thought himself going mad with the boredom.
And then there were times like this. Times when he got to rest and chat, swap information. It was nice, simple meetings that meant nothing and yet everything at the same time.
"Solitude is only good for a certain amount of time. It tends to drag the soul after a while." He nodded, understanding. "Hunting is something I'm finding quite troublesome myself. I've turned into quite a scavenger." He laughed. "Giving those vultures a run for their food."
"You travel in a group?" He breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't know her, thus he wouldn't know those she was travelling with. He was safe for the timebeing. "That sounds nice." He nodded. "Like a nomadic pride of sorts." He rumbled. "I used to..." No, stop it. Nothing about the past! He cleared his throat and looked suddenly distant.
"I used to wish I had someone to travel with." Yes...good cover up. "But at the same time, being on my own lets me do what I want. I'm free."

He'd see, she thought confidently, this was the life she lived. Sometimes, it was worth it just to talk with the warthog just for someone to talk to. Hearing him talk, she began to reassess that idea commenting an honest compliment, "Eloquently put." It was a good way to say it, something she'd have to remember for later.
Unable to help it, she burst into a peel of light, joyful laughter when he talked about giving the vultures a run for their food. Her violet eyes were alight with joy at the thought and she commented, "Its about time those birds were on the other end of the table, oh how I would love to see that." The nasty things had ganged up on her a time or two, especially when she was a cub and juvi. One nearly picked her up for dinner. They deserved to lose their meal.
Listening to what he said with open ears, she did not hit on the slip instead offered, "If you want a hunting partner, I am here for a little bit." Kamaria let her in so she extended a paw of kindness to another lonely traveler, "Or would like a group to join for a while, I can introduce you to Kamaria and Roho." There was no exact leader of their little band, but she'd name Kamaria if asked.

He smiled, glad that he'd managed to lighten the mood a little. He wasn't very good at small talk though he certainly was learning fast. She was gentle, he could tell, gentle-hearted and sensitive. He wasn't used to females like her. The ones he had grown up around were bursting of confidence, as rough as any male and certainly not what one would call 'a proper lady'.
"Lets hope they don't realise their sharp beaks and claws scare me. I don't want to lose an eye to one of those things." He winced. "They see my teeth and keep well back, though if I interrupt them enough times they might decide that enough is enough." He flicked his tail. "Anyway, it's survival out here, I'm not so proud that I wouldn't scavenge. It's that or nothing." He smiled.
"Join your group?" He was tempted. Being a part of a family again, if only for a little while was an offer that one didn't come across very often. In fact he was almost prepared to say yes right there and then.
But he couldn't.
His staying with them might bring danger their way and she had been so kind to him already, sharing shade and conversation. He couldn't put her life in danger and the life of her friends. So, he tamed the eager expression and shook his head solemnly.
"I think it's better I keep to myself." His ears drooped slightly. "It's for the best, I think."

It was refreshing, the lioness thought, to see she wasn't the only one to be afraid of those huge birds. She actually looked relieved that he said he was afraid of them. "As a cub, I used to have nightmares they'd just pick me up out of the sky and take me away." She still did when she was alone, but she didn't want him to think she was ridiculous or a cub or anything like that. She was tough, after all, but looked up to the sky anyway for the ominous shadows that still scared her a bit.
Scavenging was something she understood all too well, "Its better then the bugs," was her commentary that could have come right from her own mouth as a cub or juvi. Old kills may not be the best, but that meat was so much better than the grasshoppers and other nasty things that kept her feed.
Ears perked, her eyes were on him as she waited for his response, it would be so nice to have another strong lion in their group. Her ears drooped a little bit, but came right back up again as she said, "Well, if you change your mind and can find us, my offer still stands. That and I'll be impressed." It was hard to find anyone out here, but maybe that was because she never really went looking.

Nodding slowly, thoughtfully, the lion smiled more to himself than anything. If he thought back to a few months ago he never would have thought himself out here making small talk with rogues. Never thought that he'd have to become normal - or as normal as one could get who was trained to kill as a cub.
"It is, agreeably." He replied.
"Thank you for your kindness...uh...I don't think I caught your name, nor gave you mine." He bowed his head. "Apologies, my name is Yunis." Yes, it was time to use an allias, time to dissapear completely, though silently he mourned the loss of his birth-given name. "I won't forget your invitation and maybe, once I have settled, I will seek you out again."

This is what she expected from life, but not from males. Lions weren't as scary as she once thought. Maybe those rogue stories were just that, stories. They seemed so, for she was enjoying this conversation and was unharmed.
Not once had she thought of names, simply calling the lion either that or rogue in her mind. Names were fleeting here, and she had not once met someone twice. When asked, she trustingly told him, "My name is Senatla, it is a pleasure to meet you Yanis." She thought nothing of the name he gave her, it was his real name as far as she knew and she had no cause to doubt it.
Smiling she told him, "I look forward to it, then, it would be wonderful to share your company again." Was this leading up to a good bye? That was a sad thought, but a fact as well, no meeting lasts forever here, her time with her traveling companions being an exception from all involved.

A Pang of guilt lanced through him, guilt that he wasn't being completely honest with her. But it was for her own protection after all. He stood then and stretched out a forepaw, bowing his head to her, ever the gentleman.
"And I yours." He replied. "Thank you for the conversation, as brief as it was. Maybe I'll see you again, you and your family." He smiled. "Until then, I pray the shadows will keep you hidden from ill-boding eyes." He paused, glanced at her onw last time, as if committing her image to memory.
"Farewell Senatla." And he turned and loped off, moving with long, powerful strides.
And so it was that Altair was moving again, as free and untamed as the bird he had been named after.

She stood as he did, light hearted but also a little sad. Good-byes were common, but she had enjoyed his company. Her eyes were on him as he looked back and spoke. The farewell was different, but she thought nothing more of it then just what his pride said. Maybe, she though, if she found to pride that said that she might find him in the future. Though, she thought, it might be as a rogue she'd find the nice lion again.
Calling before she missed her chance "May the sun rise to see you safe, fed and well, Yanis, farewell!" She made up the farewell, but liked it and thought on how she could improve it as the lion left. Hoping, she prayed this would not be the last time she'd see him, if only to know he was safe and hopefully found what he came here to find.
