I was wandering through the web today in search of even more InuYasha info, and I found something I did not now. Of course, the anime has come to an end with 167 episodes, but I didn't know the manga (the original Japanese one) is twice as long as the anime was. The anime basically stops at volume 36 of the manga, but its still growing! So far there's about 54 volumes of the manga, and more coming. Maybe that's why Naraku never died in the anime and you don't get to see Sesshoumaru's mom in it either. I wonder why they stopped so early with the show...

Minor nitpick: Actually it's 54 volumes of manga, not 57.
I heard it was due to that the animators kept catching up with the manga, which forces them to make filler episodes in the mean time. I assume they ran out of filler ideas, and they though it would be a good idea to stop before the anime turns into a mass of filler. Because you lose fans quickly when there's a lot of filler.
As for what's happening currently, I'm really worried about Miroku all that poison, and the Kazana at it's limit. The future looks bleak for him, but if Kohaku can make it, anyone can.

I thought it was 57... oh well. Thanks anyways, I'll change that. I always thought the manga was ahead of the anime and besides, couldn't they have waited? I mean, mosy shows take about 6 months coming back with a new season so why couldn't the animators wait too? Then again, like you said, they could lose fans that way too without giving them anything new in a while.

Btu you have to remember that manga is only 18 pages per week, while an episodes of anime is 24 minutes long. So the same story that would take 3 or 4 chapters in the manga, would take up only one episode. The only exception would be the chapters that take place in the future, because they tend to be one episode long. I heard in Japan that they air an episode once every week, and they produce then one after another. So say if something were to happen to production they wouldn't be able to air a new episode until the next week. I have no idea why but most anime doesn't go on hiatus, I guess it's just an industry thing.

I guess it could be difficult to make an episode with just that, but other anime have done it. I'm sort of ignorant to the whole anime production thing so I'm not sure. I think its probably because it would cost a lot of money to stop a production. There are a few anime that go on hitaus too though, but that's because the manga went on it too. It really stinks not knowing how it ends...
