The Begining...
After much ordeal, I figured that there were most definitely properties of water inside of the Hououza feathers. However, I also concluded that I would not be able to know until they evolved.
I wiped my forehead, not from heat, but mere frustration and exhaustion. I was hunched over the large metal lab table, examining the feathers. Soon... they will have homes. The thought brought a smile to my face; the Hououza's will have a home... I had already placed an add out to those who were interested.
I walked in the front door of my apartment and yawned. What a busy day! It only took a day, and people had already started calling for the beautiful feathers. Most of them found a home quickly. It warmed my heart.
I told them to keep contact with me, however, because I wished to know of the strange new properties of water these feathers witheld. I had just come back from dropping off the last feather and I walked over to my counter, setting down my car keys. I went to the fridge and opened it, preparing to make myself a late dinner. I grabbed some bread, cheese, mayo, and anything else I wished to throw on for a sandwich. I turned around to set them on the counter to see a man standing on the other side. I screamed and dropped everything.
"HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE?! WHO ARE YOU!? WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" I was so frightened I almost forgot how to move. I inched over to where the phone was to see that a man was already there, he leaned against the counter, holding the ripped phone cord in his hand. He smiled and walked up to me.
"Where are the feathers?"
"What?" I blinked in astonishment; these men weren't here for me... they were here for the Hououza's...
"You know what I mean; Where are the feathers?" He looked annoyed already, he stepped closer, "If you lie, you'll not live to see the morning."
What a cliche line! I chuckled at that, but that was a mistake. The man lunged at me and pinned me to my pantry door by my neck. He strangled me, not to suffocate, but to stun and hold still, "LeT go" was all I could manage to say.
"Tell me where the feathers are!" His said urgently, he was angry... I could see it in his eyes... It sparked real fear in me.
"I... don't... know..." I clawed at his hand, trying to get him off of me. Then, I realize I could just knee him in... well, the family jewels. Why didn't that occur to me before? So, I did. I kneed him pretty hard too cause he doubled over fast enough for his chin to get smacked by my still flying leg. He then collapsed to the ground. This is where his buddy came in. He rushed around the counter and picked up the man, glaring at me all the while.
Then, he spoke to me in such a peculiar way... it fascinated me. Then, my eyes went wide in horror... He had phoenix wings... He was a Hououza. My mouth dropped, and from then on, I was too shocked to move. The younger man said in a hiss to me as he picked up the man on the floor, "You will tell us, maybe not directly. But you will tell us."
With that, they left. I started shaking hysterically and collapsed to the ground. I couldn't help but start to sob right then and there. That man... he was a Hououza? What did they want with those feathers? Why are they so important?
I guess some things will never be discovered by research alone.
