Stones gathered among a bed of water- perhaps to hide how deep it got, but the fish would bounce from bubble to bubble, and otters clapping the surface quite seldom. Though the winter was warming for the small bit, Gaiacinta could no longer hide as a morbid image upon the snow. Her wings clustered closer to her body bending with tensity as her daughter followed. They weren’t even close- so it made her feel threatened. Was her own daughter going to try to overthrow her soon? No. Raven had a bit of her father’s heart in still being somewhat rational. Perhaps.

She leaned down to take a drink of water among the pong, perhaps hoping to catch a fish. If it was a river, she’d be sure to drink the ocean, as she glared at Raven, and then back at the water.

Raven’s discomfort was the very one that bore her. That was love enough, she believed, but both everyone had a scorn for one another it seemed. Was she tress passing? Her mother ignored her as usual, with the same coldness. Would she ever be like Darkfire? Spade? She doubted even that much, but maybe she could try. Spade was the favorite, but then again, Gaiacinta saw him as the one to gain inheritance at given chance. Not that they gone into inbreeding, it was just that as a leader, she feared it.

For one who tasted blood of many, she was not satiated with just glory. She was willing to prove anything to be like her brother, but she never could be. Her head lowered, and hoped something would break the silence. At least even for the shortest of moments. She couldn’t make a comment about how pretty the water was, with out her mother walking away. Maybe if they fought... Something. Gaiacinta almost always seemed to give her the look, -I dare you, wretch.-

She would never say it, but as a black sheep among the family, what was it worth arguing their hierarchy. Her ears flickered before she could almost track the scent of something. Wasn’t the water, but wasn’t Gaiacinta either, as this was a sudden trace of a different flesh type. Though she wouldn’t alert her mother. No reason to.

Much to the stallion's discomfort his nostrils picked up a new scent. Two of them. Instantly his face turned to that of disgust. He had no desire to meet anyone. None at all. Unless they were willing to become his next meal that is...As if on cue Shadowmere's belly let out a low grumble as it had been without food for over a day now, perhaps two, who knows. The stallions didn't keep track of time. Never had. Never will.

A dark red color stained the stallion's hooves. Blood. Some old, some fresh. The fresh was from a kill made earlier that day, the old...well, that was collected over time for disputes with others and from killing small creatures for his own amusement.

Though, he had decided that he did not wish to even see another today, he followed the scent. He must know what would cause such a smell...a smell of purity and impurity. Of holy and unholy at the same time, but in perfect harmony. Going against all of the world, but they did it with such grace and dignity.

It was the red mare that felt she should be laughing. She only continued drinking the water. Nothing tense. The trail of a male was near. Confidence in her said she would either take flight, or attack when he was close enough. Flight mostly to get rid of her other trailer. Lapping water from the lake, Gaiacinta watched the other from time to time from the side leer. Something in her wanted to say something, but she couldn’t have the heart to peeve her daughter off at the moment. The closer it seemed- the more intriguing it was.

There was no doubt that the scent came off as sinister. She didn’t have to do much to fight, but if her daughter ever wanted to prove herself even of kalona blood upon her half, the darker mare would need to move fast.

‘What a filter,’ Raven would think. The bloody mare was already two steps ahead of her, and not making anything about it. Though she wouldn’t give glance back to the bitter mare. Turning around her wings lifted in a bluff at the least. Most likely to make sure if it was something simple- she’d have the better hand at least. Though the spaded tail lashed about like a furious whip. “We know you’re out there.”

This caused the red mare’s ears to flicker with glee, but Raven ignored her. She peered to the trees, the open areas, but where was it? Why of all places did her mother mother have to pick a place of calm reflection. Had she a death wish? No- it wasn’t that. Her mother was giving her a test out of her own amusement. She wanted to lower her head, in defeat, but she didn’t have the nerve to grant her mother even that. The breeze off the water was the only hint, but she would glare from where ever the scent came from.

One pace, three pace, she stepped forward with her blood red horn directed where ever her ears could pick up an intruding sound.

'Perhaps this won't be so bad~' Shadowmere whispered to himself, a sinister smile placed on his lips, blood-stained teeth showing their way through. Did the mare just call him out? Haha, well this would definately be more fun then being by himself. One step, two step and slowly the stallion showed himself to the battle-ready mare.

"My, my~ I go out for a stroll and look what I find. Two little mares. But oh my, you don't look like all the others...you know hold a certain stature, almost as a sort of god, but not." The stained stallion couldn't help himself, he had to laugh. O heavens, his words must sound so ridiculous to others, but to him they speak the truth...in a sense at least.

His tail, dark as the night sky, flicked behind him as he made his way over to the two. None so cautiously, he bowed politely to the two, the smile still on his face. "Shadowmere, at your services ladies."

As if it was a sound of a hiss, Gaiacinta glared at the water. Her head did not turn, but she did. She would move to the side, “What use is wingless devil?” She muttered, and her lashing red tail sprung furiously from side to side. Only in a ninety-degrees turn from her own daughter for her head to turn to face only the stallion with green rage.

How could he address her with the name he did? Especially with a lowly daughter. How arrogant, she would think that he had been, but then again she is not too old considering her daughter’s years. But her wings tensed for a change, clenching a claw ready to attack if the stallion moved closer.

This however was noticeably not agreeing with Raven.

Raven glared for a second, but didn’t change her expression. If she did, her mother would be given the higher of the range as she always had taken. “... Whom you are in a nutshell. ... Past what we see.” The harsh words came out. Mixed as she was, she tried her hardest to stay on a one tracked mind when confronted- maybe it would make things better for her and her higher viewer, but she didn’t like the disrespect that was given to him either. Though could she even trust his words? This was at least the smallest of amusement she saw.

They had just met, but Raven couldn’t respond as to why she was the way she was- protecting her mother? Not really. Just a display of heartless motions of a warrior but it wasn’t true. She saw him, and saw arrogance, but not uselessness.

“Raven, are you hesitating to attack first before getting their stories?” The red mare laughed with malice, but looked at the stallion

"Wingless; yes. But I do not regret being born without them. Seeing how weak the wingless are has done nothing but make me want to exterminate the weaklings out of the population." Shadowmere snorted. There was an obvious tension in the air around the three. The red mare...was quite agitated. Very much so, and the black one mimicked it as well.

"Whom am I? Hm, perhaps I am a sinner, or perhaps I am not. You two already know my name. But perhaps...I should tell you of my marking." His eyes looked from the mares to the bloody hand print on his rump. "That. That is from my last rider. The one who tamed me from the wild. Killed. And I did so. As he fell from my back he laid that marking on me as he tried to grasp me." There was a sense of pride, accomplishment in his voice, his eyes shone with...happiness. Another snort. "He deserved it! No one shall tame me. No one. No two-legged and certainly no other of my kind or any other kind."

“Oh? I can see through your bluff.” The red one said through a smile. The air was calmer with the feel of boasting. She didn’t feel any need to be threatened, as her wings only curled against her sides in a lazy downward position. She was about to send her own daughter after the male in complete sacrifice and her own amusement.

Maybe there could be use out of even the dark one she thought, but the way the ‘black hate’ stood in her position with her ears back, and her wings half way down, it looked as if she wouldn’t even if told. A pity, Gaiacinta thought to herself. “I am Gaiacinta, the first of my kind.” The green eyes no longer looked at him. Maybe it was herself who would protect her daughter in not making a fuss.

“This unloyal one is my daughter. Raven. I think I only keep her around because she reminds me of her father.” It was blunt, and snide towards the darker mare upfront, but she didn’t even say anything.

Raven’s head only stayed in the same direction. Keep throwing them, she thought, keep throwing them. So many names rang, but she wouldn’t answer anything until her name was said. The red eyes widened but then went back to the same eyes. What she did wish to say is her mother’s words weren’t hers, but likely that would only amuse her mother. “Wing or not winged, my mother’s no lady.” With this she finally calmed.

A smirk was upon her face, and the red mare no longer looked at both. That was all it took for Gaiacinta to back down. “Your back is to me, is it not, mother, dearest?” Her voice twisted from a soft tone hidden with poison. They only caused Gaiacinta’s wings to cringe a slight moment. The mare nodded with a smirk, but didn’t answer. Raven’s eyes went back to the stallion.

“One’s back to the other is pure sign of inequality. I’d rather not defend someone like that.” The words actually came out polite- almost sincere, holding back any emotion however. The mare though smiled still and turned her head to bow in sarcasm. Words were muttered, but Raven ignored them to ask something of Shadowmere.

“If you are such a killer, then why do you pose boast. Or is this just part of your fun. We pose insanity- we don’t feel guilt. do you pose consciousness of your deeds? Then that is true filth.” The black mare smiled. Nothing of what she said even sounded mean, but honestly curious.

"I tend to...have more fun whilst I kill. I do so for pleasure, not for reason. The scent of blood...is like an arousal for me, for my senses."

Shadowmere knew not why he was telling these mares this. Nor did he wish to truly 'fight' with either of them. They seemed to be more...towards his own sanity level then anything else. It was odd to say the least, but not unexpected.

"Raven...may I ask you something as well...If your mother treats you so, why have you not turned on her? Or left her to be?"

The green eyes looked towards the Stallion, it seemed another bluff to her. He may be older than her, but had she told her daughter to attack, she probably would have. Though attacking was also another form of answering with out reasoning. The look went to Raven, as if trying to tell her if she doesn’t come back- then don’t bother to either.

The unikalona’s wings unfolded and lifted and she galloped herself into flight. Considering size it made a rather louder noise than feathers would. The wind smacking against the spread wings as to glide towards the woods. The spaded tail lashing about behind her.

Raven’s eyes actually winced from the sounds of such a harpy leaving. Or at least that’s what she called it. Her head turned half way but only to look at the stallion. Insult or not? Attack and make her mother pleased or insulted. Se couldn’t tell. “When you are bound by blood it’s all there is, but a mother is still a mother.” Even if they were red eyes they were calmer- but not looking at Shadowmere for the longest of a moment- for she wanted to be honest at least.

“I’ve once overheard a story that a unicorn once said to its half bred filly. Flutter, I suppose. A vicious mother once was ever so brutal, and always lashed out at her children. Like some lunatic.” With this she smiled. Almost like there was a small bit of pride.

“Her youngest son had finally decided to reason with her. She lashed, and he had no longer a choice. He slashed her in half. She was his mother, and so in mourning he held one half up, and stood over the rest.” With a brief shrug. “I think it was really supposed to explain the fiery sun, and the moon, but even if she was terrible, she was still a part of him. Even if I killed my own mother, it’d never do me any good.”

She looked towards her mother, and even choked back a small bit of grief. “I hate her, and I love her.” She would have asked him about himself, but he already answered. Why was anyone like that a sadist? Then again she had no room to speak, for in her past she too had take fun in poking at her brother- even if he was going to take the raise of the family. “Besides, I’m no angel either.” It took a second and she smirked. “I can be just as tough as you, even if I didn’t have wings.”

She remembered quite well her mom insulting him for his wingless form. Just because he lacked something she did- she would see even him as useful. Though not trust worthy- yet.
