((Dun laugh at my retarded title. ;o; ))
Prancing in a clearing, Chitsa wasn't sure why she had been traveling for the past few days and without Roka too. That was very unusual since she never really left his side. But she was too scatterbrained at the moment to remember why she had left the sanctuary of her teepee. Gazing around at the slightly snow covered field, Chitsa wondered when spring would come. She wanted to see all of the pretty butterflies and insects. Brimming with excitement, she couldn't wait to smell all of the pretty flowers. Not that she didn't like the snow, she just liked the springtime more.
Something caught Chitsa's eye. Across the field, a doe and her young fawn stepped daintily on the outskirts of the clearing. They looked so cute... Chitsa watched from a distance and observed the young fawn stumbling as it stepped clumsily through the snow. She was fondly reminded of her own children. Oh, how fast they had grown up... A thought flitted about in her mind.

Roka had checked with the usual spot over the past few times, but to no avail. Did Chitsa move without telling him? But that couldn't be so, as he made trips to her home with the tan-skinned frail creature, and the scenery of it all had not moved a bit. One part of him fretted over his mate, but something else told him that perhaps she had just gone for a bit of a rest. After all, raising little ones that suddenly seemed to grow into adults from out of nowhere took a lot out of the two. But now, as their children grew with each day, they were more adept at fending for themselves, and so much of the responsibility was removed from the couple's lives.
And so, without a particular destination or aim or worry, Roka found himself participating in this wanderlust that Chitsa had apparently gotten herself into as well. He treaded lightly on the soft white-blanketed ground, eyes glazing over at the shifting sky scape above him. He weaved through the trees automatically as his body guided him on his walk. Until...
He stopped as he surprised himself, almost running into a clearing where a female deer and her child, he assumed, were stationed. He stood still until they were further away from him, so that he wouldn't startle them, and he stepped into where they had been once before. Dratted snow, covering up all the flowers and making signs of life harder to spot. Everything was hibernating, seeming to hide from him... Chitsa, too. If only he was like one of those birds that knew how to find things instantly--the ones that homed in on their goals!

Chitsa continued to gaze at the pair thoughtfully but then a dark figure in the distance brought her back down to earth. Tilting her head, Chitsa had to squint before the familiar stallion became apparent. Her eyes lite up and a huge grin appeared on her face. The deer and the fawn disappeared from her sight and all she saw was her mate.
Bursting with enthusiasm, Chitsa began to run towards Roka. She couldn't even express how happy she was to see him. "Roka!" She stopped in front of him, her chest heaving in and out as she tried to catch her breath. "Oh my gosh, it feels like I haven't seen you in years! I'm sorry I disappeared, I don't know what was in my head when I wandered off." She took deep breaths between each sentence and she just couldn't contain her enthusiasm. After looking him over to make sure her mate hadn't changed a hair, Chitsa smiled happily and spoke with even more exuberance then before, "Tell me, how have you been?"

He thought he heard the soft pattering on the ground coming his way, but gave it no attention until he heard the sweet voice that called his name out in such a manner that he wouldn't have believed it to be any other but Chitsa's. His eyes lit up as he turned to the origin of the call and before he knew it, Chitsa was breathing heavily in front of him from her dash.
"Chitsa," Roka spoke softly as he attempted to hush her, for she required no explanation at all to her whereabouts. "I understand, and it has only been a few days--and I'm sure you've found new wonders and sights to introduce to me soon, and perhaps in that time you learned how to use your wings!" he teased. But he did understand that others had sometimes simply wandered away, whether it be for self-reflection or purely on an unconscious motive, for he had found himself susceptible to similar cases, especially as a youth, and especially when he was not raising his children. Though they were smaller than usual because of Chitsa's flutter heritage, they still contained more whimsical and youthful energy than many he knew. Ah, what wonders parents' personalities can do to contribute to the tempers of children.
He moved forward to brush his neck against Chitsa, settling into a comforting nuzzle as soon as she was done, calming her. He kept his hold on her as he replied, "I have been faring well, and I find it a relief that Seollya has found life with those that walk on two legs, and that Alston stays with you and yours. I admit I had a bit of a worry for you, but the winds ensured me that you were still safe, which kept me content until we had met again."
Roka then broke his embrace momentarily and locked gaze with Chitsa, adopting a sterner tone, "Everything has been well, though, right?"

Chitsa tended to overreact but she just missed him so much! Even if she was only gone for a few days, it felt like years. Honestly, she couldn't even remember why she felt the urge to just wander in the forest in the dead of winter. But all of that didn't matter anymore because he was here with her now. "Oh but it wasn't worth being away from you. I've wandered so much there's not a rock I'm not already familiar with. I haven't learned how to fly yet but there's always hope." Her mood was always conveyed by her expression. She didn't know how to hide anything and that wasn't really a bad thing.
The flutter nuzzled him affectionately; she always felt safe with him. She could feel her heartbeat slowing back to its normal rate. "That's good to hear. I know Alston's being a good boy and just wandering about as I did when I was younger. Once in awhile he'll stop by but then he's off again. I wonder if he'll ever settle down..." Oh the thought of grandchildren was kind of scary to her. Did that mean she was getting old? Her personality sure as hell wasn't.
Chitsa caught his gaze and tilted her head curiously. "Of course. Why wouldn't everything be well?" She was sincerely puzzled because she couldn't imagine things going wrong right now. Everything was pretty much... perfect.

"Ah, you must show me some of the rock friends you have made, then," Roka quickly said, explaining, "I may know a few of them--I've consulted with many a stony acquaintance when younger... I hope none have forgotten my name." He proudly asserted the fact that he oft talked to things of nature ever since he learned to speak. It was something he would have possibly told his offspring to do, though he had never thought of it before, having never really been ready for children in the first place. Speaking with nature led to insightful moments, and he gained quite a lot of knowledge from pure observation, but despite Seollya and Alston's lack of education of this, they seemed to fare well enough.
At his mate's description of his only son, Roka laughed heartedly and smiled vaguely, thinking about Alston. With the exception of the vibrant purple and butterfly attributes that came from Chitsa, his son was an exact split image of him. At first, he found it a bit strange to see a mini version of himself wandering through life, but he soon came to accept it as a part of life. Perhaps, if Alston wasn't on his traveling hooves, he would make a short visit to him for some quality time he seemed to scarcely find while his two children were growing up. Odd how time flew by in the blink of an eye.
"With time, he will," Roka said slowly, referring to his son's possibility of "settling down", just like he had with Chitsa. It took him a little time, especially to disregard his fanciful childish qualities, but true love found a way to mature the heedless stallion. "I do... hope he will know what he's doing, though," he continued. Was it one of those moments in a parent's life, when thoroughly concerned with their child's future, desired to... have a talk? "I should talk to him, right?" He figured things like that were more comfortable if done in a father-son, mother-daughter sort of way, as both genders did share differentiating traits and experiences. And though his own father possibly attempted to teach him at one point, he was probably looking down at the grass or a nearby tree--he seemed to lack attention to his father Orchu when he was younger, even showing blithe ignorance into his later adolescence years. But the lack of immersion in the wisdom his parents wanted to provide didn't come from complete rudeness, but rather... his carefree spirit and attitude.
His own children deserved better, didn't they?
Roka shook his head casually and, tucking Chitsa's head back under his, replied back, "I should have known, all is well as long as we are together. Next time you wander out, tell me so I may wander the path of a butterfly." He smiled and stretched out his white wing to wrap partially around Chitsa and stepped a little to her side. "Did you have anything in mind to do today?"

Chitsa giggled wildly as he explained his rock friends to her. "Perhaps! It would be quite the coincidence." Smiling happily, Chitsa always enjoyed herself when she was around Roka. Nothing could really go wrong when she was with him. She didn't mind the way her children had turned out; it's not like she could have changed them anyway. Even though sometimes they worried her, she had assumed that all of this worry was part of the job description of being a mother. She wondered if her own mother had worried about her they same way she worried about Seollya and Alston.
"Perhaps. I'm not too terribly worried though. It's not like he has to settle down, just as long as he is happy..." She paused slightly but continued, "If you wanted to, you don't have to, you know." The petite mare nuzzled her mate softly as she spoke knowing that there really was nothing to worry about. Chitsa gazed up at her mate with soft eyes, wondering what he was thinking about. Maybe she shouldn't have brought up Alston's strange habits... But she knew that Roka should know about stuff like this. Maybe she was over-thinking all of this. But she did have something to talk to Roka about...
Chitsa paused before continuing, "So Roka. I have a... question." She wasn't really sure if it was a question or a request or anything! Again, she wasn't sure if she should really be 'asking' him stuff like what she had in mind.

Roka nodded to Chitsa's words and reflected momentarily on the subject matter. Family... Things got more complicated once they had started their own, didn't they? As long as he is happy...
"Of course, it'll also provide an excuse for a father to spend time with his son, wouldn't it?" he questioned cheerfully, not even thinking of the awkward circumstances that may sprout as a result of the possible conversation. Why hadn't he ever paid attention to his own dad teaching him the tricks of the trade?! Of course, he saw mother more often, but as a result of her usual quietness, he had to do almost everything concerning parenting on his own--which meant making things up along the way if necessary. But it was good as long as he had Chitsa there to make things up alongside him.
Roka snapped back to reality from his trailing off thoughts and blinked at his mate. "A question?" he replied with a chuckle. "I think it'd be impossible for anyone to not have a question or two on their mind all the time, dear. What is your question, though? Is it for me?"
He was as childly innocent as ever.

"Yes it will." The little flutter grinned happily as he spoke. Their family was... rather strange. At least their children were. She hadn't seen her only daughter in awhile and Alston only came back to visit once in awhile. Aurorealis's son, Hesperos, had lived in the teepee for the longest time until he found his own mate and then left. She had sort of been expecting a close family like that but she liked the way things were right now. She got to spend time with Roka and she got to see Alston once in awhile. But there was always that prodding question, was she a good mother? Had she been instilling the right ideas in her kids? So far, everything seemed alright...
Chitsa wasn't sure how she was exactly going to ask him and she was fully aware of how the conversation could take a turn but that was alright. "Who else would it be for, silly?" She giggled once more and looked up at him. "What would you think about... having more kids?" She gazed at her mate with innocent eyes, she didn't even really think about what she was actually implying.

Chitsa's giggle and laughter always lit up Roka, and so it was displayed in turn by a true smile as he teased, "Well, you should have said so!" and braced for the question.
At first, he hadn't realized what Chitsa had asked. When he did, he still held a smile to his lips, but it threatened to turn into one of slight concern and wonderment, but it stayed there, frozen, like Roka. Did she mention having more kids? His thoughts floated back to when they first had their brood of a daughter and son. He knew the signs, as before then, his own sister, Nora, had been with foal, explaining to him the strange occurrences that came with the predicament. He supposed it had been on one of those regular days while visiting Chitsa, that both gave in to the heat of the moment, and perhaps had rushed into it without thinking too much. But they did love each other, and were devoted.
Who said thinking was that big of a deal anyways? He pondered. Did his own parents think through these things? Did thinking go into part of what made him exist? And his other eight siblings?
Roka faltered as he, out of instinct, closed in on Chitsa's head with a warm nuzzle, and replied, "More younger versions of me?" He paused, considering his playful statement (but it was true!). "I have no idea what to think, another go?" Too many questions and thoughts filled his mind, that he was not able to extract a single one from the mass.
"Have you thought about it, Chitsa?" he spoke softly into her ears.

Chitsa observed him carefully wondering how he would take her question. There were many ways he could take it... Hopefully it would be something positive but then again, she wasn't really worried. She loved him too much to really care about if he disagreed with her. She knew that they definitely didn't plan to have Alston or Seoylla but lately, she had been yearning to nuzzle another little foal, bring another life into this world... It was weird planning this stuff out but she was oblivious to the division between the real world and her own world.
The flutter shrugged slightly, "Not excessively, just something on the back of my thoughts. Just thinking what it might be like to have little ones running around again." She couldn't help but blush even though it was barely visible against her fur. She didn't even know why she was embarrassed now; maybe she finally subconsciously realized what she was asking. "W-well, if you don't want more children, that's fine with me. I was just wondering." She giggled almost nervously.
She was being so silly! These things weren't supposed to be planned... were they? She shook her head slightly and smiled at Roka hoping that he would just forget what she had asked him.

Something was a bit off from the way Chitsa shied away after Roka's response, as if it was done in subconscious regret. He looked at her, concerned, for he thought nothing would have held his mate back from telling him anything on her mind. To reassure her of his faith, he repositioned his head under hers and pushed against her, showing that he would always be tied to her.
"Chitsa..." he murmured, after not a second's hesitation, "You can ask and tell me anything. Let's try again, and this time, we will do what we didn't in the past."
He would be there more often now, now that they have both matured more progressively, and have more ideal time with his children that he should have shown more of in the past. New life led to new beginnings, and he sensed the new coming season in the air--the blooming flowers and sunshine of the spring would do well to start anew, and it was also the same time their first two came into the world.
"I'll be with them every moment," he promised into Chitsa's neck, then released his contact with her. "You butterflies do seem to multiply during spring, huh?" he commented playfully.

Smiling softly, Chitsa loved Roka so much. Moments like these just reassured her that they would be together forever. "Of course. I love you, you know that." She nuzzled him gently as she stood there. Spring was coming and this was around the same time that Alston and Seollya had come about. She had definitely matured a lot. She wasn't the same little flutter that had popped out of her basket a few years ago.
The life that she had built up here was something she would never trade away. Many soquili now inhabited her teepee and she helped take care of many children other then her own.
Chitsa giggled softly as he spoke. She frowned playfully when she didn't feel him touching her but the frown quickly turned into a grin. "I guess so! I guess it's just something in the air." As the day went on, Chitsa noticed that she seemed to laugh a lot more when she was around Roka. It was so nice to know that she would always have somebody there for her no matter what.
