Hello.

Have you ever witnessed a very weird tuba accident? Or heard from a friend?? Or ARE you that tuba player????
Well, tell your story about it here! ^^
""Other instrument's weird tellings are not forbidden! Feel Free!!!"

I have few stories to tell about my susaphone, that poor thing, lol.
of course when the accidents occured I was not the player.
my BD told me all about it....

It was senior night at a football game, the seniors were all on the feild. There was a senior tuba player. He put his susaphone down on a wooden board covering a gap in the bleachers because space was scarce. So he just went on down to the feild. When all the seniors got back they had to get on the wooden board to get back in their band sections. Of course they made it back alright, but the board got unstable and the susaphone came crashing down below the bleachers!!!!

There it was, on band camp. It was hot, sunny, agonizing.. "Just like band camp ^^" A tuba player took his susaphone off and sat it on the concrete.
Just as the BD was backing up in her truck all the sudden "BAM!!!"
The susaphone was roadkill!! Well of course, tubas/susaphones are strong so it was fixable..

my tuba is a survivor!!!! And get this, we had just gotten a new tuba a year ago and our band has 2 tuba players. The new one is falling apart!!!

True stories!

Tell yours!

At our high school the the MB comes out at half time almost every game the "special" tuba comes out and they light the bell on fire the the player'll swing it around and stuff. One lucky guy accidentally flung his tuba and almost caught the whole field on fire. But he didn't and the band even finished the music and stuff... XDXDXD

When drummers don't listen......
We were marching in a parade and it was my 1st year marching with a sousaphone (and it was one of the brass ones). At the end of the parade I had someone take it off because there was no way I could get it off myself. I told everyone it was there and I yelled. Well one of the bass drummers kept walking and totally tripped over it. I felt bad but it was really funny

well...

When we were practicing our downfield performance, our band director had my side of the band sit down and watch the other side do the drill. After that, my side (the smart one) took to the field. Instead of flocking to the edge of the field to watch, the other side sat down in the middle of the field. When the front row was doing a pinwheel, we very nearly hit a rookie tuba. Then, as we were coming back across, I looked over and realized that three of our tubas were sitting in our way. I yelled, "MOVE!" and they all did, but they left the tubas there. Except for me, the entire front row fell over the tubas, and one of them had to get stitches.

Our director sent us home after that little adventure. blaugh

well, out tuba players care too much about their sousaphones to hurt them... but they do occasionally do stripper dances on them while we're at pistol... it's really disturbing.

once during rehearsal one of the tuba's bottom part fell off. it was really funny because it was in the middle of the song and the bottom part was just hanging off the tuba and the tuba player looked flustered... poor guy.

The Big Disappointment

well I have a few..lol

One time I was at a competition and we were marching on a really crappy field and as we were going to our second to last hit in the show i rolled my ankle in a ditch but i caught myself...then i rolled my ankle in another hole and then i fell causing a train wreck but we all got up in time to make it to the next hit. but yea i had a swollen ankle and i had to hobble off the field and then i got to ride in the gator...which is like a really cool 4 wheeler. but I did fell sorry for the girl that fell on top of me...she had a sousaphone on (Which really hurt...) but when we got off the field she was crying...so yea. But my sousaphone was perfectly ok!

A few weeks after the first incodent we were at a football game and us tubas got to play our section song at the end of the game (Are you ready for this) so we ran down the steps to play to the crowd and as i was running down the steps i tripped and fell with my sousaphone and hit the concrete below...but my sousaphone only came out with a few scratches...that's right i'm a cluts!

Ok last story...and this one doesn't involve me...OK my section leader and this one guy were both playing the same concert tuba...they didn't know that they were but they were...anyways one day my section leader was getting out his tuba and as he was walking out to his seat the bottom of the tuba completely fell out of his tuba...the damage was unrepairable. But we are lucky...we have four tubas...used to be five...lol but we only have three tuba players. We also have eight sousaphones...most of them are crappy exept for the one I play and the one my section leader plays...which is cool b/c im a freshman and i get to play the good tuba over a junior and a senior...AND my section leader is a sophomore...lol

Well if you read all of that im suprised but yea thats all of my stories!

these two didnt happen to me cause i dont play tuba since i sit in front of them in the stands or it the stands aren't set the way they are at our field then down the row but here they are

1: well our cheerleaders throw tshirts and little plastic footballs when we get first down(doesnt happen often cause our team really sux) well some of them are band members so when it happens they throw it into the band or give it to our director(they can never seem to throw it the the lower voices like the trombones no matter how the stands are set and how low we are) anyway after that they give our director one of the little footballs so she throws it into the band (she has an arm cause it got up to the top row) and it landed right in the bell of one of the sousaphones we all saw it cause most of us wanted to catch it and of course we all busted out laughing and watching him get it out

2: its band senior night and we have the eighth graders joining us so our high school tuba players are shining all the sousaphones not just theirs and JT this really cool guy who plays trombone(bass really but hes in college but he loves us so he joins us every home game) is telling them how to shine them properly and Chela is shining the bottem too cause she says it feels weird to play when only the bell is shiny and the guys are just doing the bell cause they dont care but anyway we start messing around and throwing the sponges at each other adn teh tuba players when Chela threatens JT saying that if the polish for the tubas doesnt come out of her favorite pair of capris he will have to buy her a new pair exactly like them and notices that while shes polishing her tuba her promise ring is suddenly shiny again cause its silver polish that shes using cause we have 5 silver sousaphones but were getting more cause we happen to be getting so many tuba players next year that we will need more sousaphones

anyway the first one is really funny to me but the second one may be a you had to be there thing cause that night we also made fun of the eighth grade tuba player who kept dropping his mouthpiece and yeah its was a stupid night

totallyticked

Durring the two years that I played Sousaphone/Miraphone we had only two incidents like this one:
The Komacozee Sousaphone

Before school started for my senior year, around senior pictures time, a friend of mine and I really wanted our Sousaphones for our pics so we went to the band room to ask for them, while we were talking to our BD we we heard what sounded like a car hitting the side of the school and ran out of the office, I neatly flew a couple feet and landed face first onto the red carpet, to find that one of the Sousaphones, My friend's, had also flown a few feet and landed in a heap on the floor and had to be sent back to the shop.

I'm a junior in high school, and I play the tuba. I remember my freshman year when I had a really big accident (to me).

It was out parent show, where we do the entire show (that we have together) to the parents. I was the point of a parallelogram, which meant if I screwed up, you could see me really well. I was marching backwards really fast, and taking big steps. when out of nowhere I fall backwards. I could have sworn that I did a flip backwards and got right back up on my feet. But, from what other people, I fell back and then got back up...with no flip. After that, I kept trying to keep my pants up, cause they weren't tight enough. It all really sucked, but now I look back on it and laugh. I hope you all have laughed also.
