It had been a wonderful gift to be blessed with three healthy children. It made Draven happier to have a family to take care of even if he did go a little overboard on the protective father bit some times.
The girls had grown up happy and bright and her little boy took after his father a bit. Well, Atae had grown up happy and bright. Ina had a few issues with standing on her own two feet but it made the girl endearing. Ina reminded her a lot of herself when she was that age.

 There were days such as today when her wings felt too big and her body too small. She knew that they were the size that they were to help her fly but... Wouldn't it have been just as easy if they were smaller?
She shook her head slowly as she made her way back towards the small cave that she'd called home her entire life, putting on a bright smile as she caught sight of her mother. "Hello, Mother!"

She smiled as the daughter she'd been thinking about made an appearance. "Good morning Ina." She stepped closer to the small mare and nuzzled her. Ina was slightly larger than her but she'd kept most of Kochu's tiny stature.

"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" She tilted her head towards the nuzzle in order to return it. "I could always wander off again and come back home later..."

"Does it look like you're interrupting anything little one?" Draven was out wandering around making sure their home was safe and the other two were off doing much the same, or just wandering. "I always have time for my children."

"You never know... I could have been." Her wings gave a slight twitter as she tilted her head to the sky before looking back to the other mare. "... Do you think I'll ever be as lovely as you are, Mother?"

"Of course not Ina ... you'll be as lovely as you are." She nudged her daughter's nose with hers. Ina might not have her sisters polished grace but she had a character all her own. "Are you still worried you're odd?"

"No, I'm not worried that I'm odd." She knew that she was odd. She wasn't anywhere near the sort of lady that either her mother or sister were... And she wasn't as tough or resilient as either her father or brother. She was herself and that alone set her apart from the others. "I was just thinking."

She laughed softly. "You always were the one for thinking." She and Draven did enough of it for the other two children. Not enough for all three apparently. "What were you thinking about?"

"I had thought, for a bit, about getting older... And how some things seem to make more sense when one is older... But others don't." Her face gave way to the various expressions of emotion easily, seeming almost comical as she went from overjoyed to contemplative. "Why is that, Mother?"

"It is easier to be carefree when one is a foal. You don't have to worry about how things work or what you're going to do. You can just trust that your family is going to make sure everything is perfect while you grow up." That wasn't always true but in general terms it was. "Some things are easier to look at and accept when your mind isn't weighed down by the weight of knowledge"
"As you get older ..." She thought about it for a moment. "You start to understand things more and you start to understand what things meant that you didnt know before. With that you start to question everything more than just accepting it"

"So... The older you get the less sense the simple things make and the more sense the complicated ones do?" Her brow furrowed as she shook her head, the soft waves of her mane caressing her neck. "Why... That doesn't make any sense at all... Is everything about being older this complicated?"

"Unfortunately." At least she could hope that her children's lives would not be as complicated as her and Draven's. They didn't need to expierence anything like that and she knew her and her mate would do their best to keep them from doing so.

She took in a deep breath, releasing it as a huff of a sigh that caused her whole body to move. It was horrible that things were so complicated... And that the complications made one think so much.
After a moment she shook her head, clearing it of those thoughts only to have them replaced with another. "Mother... Why was Father so tense the other night when he brought Atae home?"

She had hoped that Ina hadn't seen that. It had taken a bit of talking for her to get Draven to relax after that. "Atae met someone ..."
Usually that wouldn't have been a bad thing. She had nothing against Atae making friends and getting to know others. Draven had other opinions when it involved boys and even more so when he said the boy had flames sparking from his hooves.
