After Hera's second meeting with the prince, she knew that she had changed. Was it in a good way? Possibly, but possibly not. Her harsh feelings towards her mother, who was miles away from the herd lands, had diminished slightly. In fact, Hera didn't dwell on that subject anymore. All she could think of was the future of herself. She hadn't really thought about her slave at all. Maybe now was the time since her little slave had grown up by now.

Pawing at the ground, she stared at the sky, wondering who might bump into her today. She expected the prince to have been by her side by now, but she knew it was too soon for her to be thinking about that. She didn't want to take things too fast-at least not yet. Her attraction towards the prince was strong, but not strong enough.

Sighing, she let her legs fold under her body and she lay on the red earth, a calm expression on her face.

And that had to be her down there. From the precipice he stood on, Dahak squinted. The mare definitely matched the description the Shrila had given him. He'd want to see the stock before he came to any final decisions, of course, but the possibility ahead of him still had the young stallion exited. Smiling softly to himself, the tri-coloured stallion stepped off the edge and allowed his wide wings to carry him down in a smooth curve.

He landed a respectful distance away from the elder adult and quickly trotted to a halt becoming more sure by the moment that this was who he was looking for. Well, now to be truly sure. Dahak bowed his head briefly in greeting. "Pardon me m'lady," he said with a smile to the dapple grey, "but might you be Hera?" If not he was about to look rather silly.

From the ledge his master had just dropped from, Virgil watched with some trepidation. He wanted to please his master and Eilir was a sweet girl but... but she was a girl, very much younger than he and he was no oldster. Sighing faintly to himself, the pale-eyed stallion waited where he was for his master's call.

Hera continued to stare up at the sky, her thoughts filled of her prince when she heard hooves hitting the ground. She quickly picked herself off of the ground and turned around, expecting to see Ka standing before her, but instead she saw a tri-colored stallion. Confused, she canted her head to one side, wondering why this youngster was in front of her. Hearing his polite words, she nodded her head slightly, her wings spreading out slightly.

"I am indeed Hera. And you may be?" she asked politely, no smile on her maw. Her confusion toned down slightly, but in it's place curiousity rose up. Why was this youngster here and what business did he have with her? She was a mere citizen and he was the offspring of...wait, what was his lineage? She had no clue, but the blue in his coat suggested that he was the offspring of a well-known Jala. She couldn't think of said Jala's name, though. Maybe his name could help her out a little bit.

The young stallion smiled and swept a proper bow now that he knew he had the right mare. "I am Dahak, Hera, son to Xla'lanan and tactician Undine. I have... the possibility of a proposition, if you will." He didn't spare the ledge up above a single glance; Virgil's loyalty to him was... well, for want of a better word; slavish. The bae would descend at his signal and show himself off at his best, which was rather good if the tear-marked stallion did say so himself.

The dark-bodied creature had been a lucky find, a very lucky find indeed. A well behaved slave of high quality always made one look good. Still... he was only a bae. One day, the curly-maned Jala decided, he would have to find himself something a touch rarer; maybe once he had announced his magic to the herd; that seemed a good time to claim something as high-status as an ichsa for his own.

And indeed Virgil did wait, smiling softly to himself at the fluidity of his Lord's bow. Such an elegant creature the young stallion was, and how beautiful he had grown up. Such a master he had; such a master! He was gladder every day that he hadn't fled that first time he had seen the Jala's face. Such a master.

Ah, so that's who his parents were. The Royal advisor and the infamous tactician. She let a slight smirk appear on her maw. She didn't care if the youngster saw it. That was her nature. She was a seducer and a trickster, but her loyalty towards the herd rose above her traits. Tossing her mane to the other side of her neck, she gracefully arched her neck and took a few timid steps towards the young stallion.

"Well, it is an honor to be meeting you, Dahak." She paused for a few seconds as she gazed back behind her. She didn't know if her slave had followed her or not. "Eilir, you may come out, now," she said in a sweet voice. Turning her attention back to the stallion, she flicked her tail a few times, trying to wonder why Dahak had seeked her out. "May I inquire as to why you have sought me out? And with your slave, nonetheless." She knew that no Jala that had a slave didn't leave their den without it.

At her mistress' call Eilir crept out from around the corner where she had been standing out of the way. The young mare did her best to walk well, she had to look good to this young stallion or he wouldn't find her an acceptable match for Virgil. She hoped he found her a suitable match, she truly desperately did. True she was only recently come to adulthood but she longed for foals and foals with Virgil... Well, she couldn't think of anyone she'd rather be with.

Dahak raised his brows as the blue and gold creature walked into view. She wasn't a bad looking thing, certainly she appeared strong and healthy, quite long-legged for one of her kind but strongly muscled. She might do rather well, he considered with a smile.

"It's about her actually," the blue-eyed stallion said with a nod to Eilir, who had stopped a respectful two paces behind and one to teh left of her mistress. "I'm looking to have foals from my bae Virgil," he lifted his right wing to signal said bae down, "and Shrila-Ochre mentioned to me that your girl might be suitable... Tell me," the tall Jala went on as he heard the thump of his slave's arrival behind him, "what do you think?"

At the lift of that wide wing, Virgil hopped off the ledge and fluttered down to land just behind Dahak as Eilir stood behind Hera. As his master spoke of him, the dark-bodied stallion gave a deep bow to the mare before him, eyes trained on the ground as was proper. He hoped he was showing well, he really hoped he was showing well. All he wanted was to do his master proud, nothing brought him greater satisfaction than doing Dahak proud and the soft words of praise that came with such success.

Hera didn't bother to look back behind her as she heard hoofbeats approach her. She knew that the hoofbeats belonged to her slave. 'So, she did follow me. It seems her loyalty is unwavered,' she thought to herself as she shifted her stance slightly, pricking her ears up. She was eager to hear Dahak's response to her question. Surely, her calling out her slave would have something to do with why he was here.

She canted her head to one side as a few moments after Eilir appeard behind her Dahak replied to her question. Hera's attention shifted from the Jala to the Bae slave that had landed behind him. What did she think of her slave and his slave mating? She thought on that question for a few moments, remaining silent. She didn't know whether or not her silence was irritating to the stallion, but at the same time she didn't care. Patience was a virtue some had to learn sooner or later.

The Bae's movements interested the mare. She had seen obedient slaves before, but none like that. It was as if the bae stallion was treating her as if she was the Heiress herself. She managed to hide a smirk that threatened to come across her maw. After studying Dahak's slave, she nodded her head stiffly. "I'd say that they would make strong, loyal slaves together. They might even attract some higher-ups if they are obedient, like their slave-parents," she finally said, making up her mind in a quick amount of time.

Dahak smiled to the other Jala and gave a bob of his head. "Good, I'm glad you agree. I don't know when it will be, but I assure you that we shall have foals from this pair at some point and that if there is only one foal it shall be yours to dispose of or to keep as you choose." There, if Virgil didn't end up having Eilir first that ought to placate her; chances were that there would be more than one from this pair when they did mate but if the possibility of his losing out put him in Hera's good graces then that was fine. It was always good to be well looked upon by folk.

They were agreeing on it! They were actually agreeing on it! Eilir lowered her head so that the huge grin that had just broken across her muzzle wouldn't be so obvious. She couldn't remember when she'd last felt so happy, and alright Dahak hadn't promised that it would be soon but he had promised that it would happen someday. Perhaps she would have time to mature a little, to really settle into being an adult. Perhaps she would have time to persuade Virgil that he rather liked her too; anything was possible right now, anything at all.

Virgil smiled softly to himself and looked over at his master. Yes, he would provide strong foals for the tall stallion, with this mare and with any others the brindled beauty chose to place him with. Anything for you master, he thought with a surge of warmth and pride, anything at all for you.

Hera nodded her head, too, at Dahak’s approving words. Maybe now she might have two slaves instead of one-one for herself and one for a future offspring of hers. “Indeed. I was waiting for the right time to go find someone who might be willing to have their slave mate with mine. I am not disappointed with the perfect stud. They will indeed make good, loyal slaves for future Jala. Maybe if they produce excellent offspring we might try for a second breeding later when their first offspring grow up and find good Masters.” It was then that she decided to observe Virgil closer. Timidly, she circled around the male Bae slowly, observing him closely and carefully.

As the Katilenuck mare circled about him, Virgil drew himself up a little taller and raised his head, staring off into the middle distance to avoid accidentally making eye contact. She had already approved him, yes, but the better he showed himself, the better his master looked and that could only be a good thing.

To her words he was somewhat indifferent, until such a time as his master showed how he felt on the matter in any case. If Dahak preferred him to mate with the gold and teal again, fine, if he preferred him to be with a different mare, well that was fine too.

Dahak quirked a slight smile as the dapple grey circled about his slave. True, a Bae for a slave was nothing stunning but he saw that Virgil was always kept well groomed; his curling white mane and tail clean and free of knots, his rich blue coat well brushed by human hands so that it gleamed with good health.

Yes, Virgil was no Ichsa, no exotic treasure to flaunt about but he was at the very least an exemplary specimen of his kind. One day there would be other slaves of rarer blood, but even then as now each one from the most common Bae upwards would be as well kept as could be. After all, a scruffy slave reflected very poorly upon its owner or so he had always felt.

As the mare continued her inspection, Dahak chuckled internally. She did not yet realize what advantage she was buying for herself by getting into his good graces. One day she would see and count herself lucky that he had picked out her Eilir for his Virgil, but not just yet. Once he had control of his magic... yes, yes then he would be great, respected for himself rather than his lineage. Yes. That would indeed be a great day.

“So,” the tall stallion paced over to the gold and blue mare, making a circuit of her to make a better inspection of her well muscled form, “we have an accord... Yes she looks most suitable to me.” Coming back to where he had started his circling of Eilir, the tri-coloured Jala smiled at Hera. “Is there anything else you feel needs to be sorted out right now, or shall we get back in contact once we’re ready to mate them?”

Eilir did her best to stand tall and straight as Dahak moved around her. The smile was still fixed upon her muzzle, but she managed to keep it meek and calm. Gods. Finally things were looking at least a little bright for her. True her children would not be free, she would not be free and Virgil would not really be her mate but one in her position had to take what she could get, right? Well of course she did.

While the prospective... arrangement was not perfect, it was the best thing that had happened to her since her capture and she intended to enjoy it and not worry overly about its limitations. Foals with Virgil, and time away from the herdlands and work whilst the tree grew and then until the foals were old enough to travel. What more could a slave girl wish for?

Still smiling to herself, the blue-eyed mare trained her attention on the pair of Jala to hear what final arrangements they would make. Life, she decided, really wasn’t so bad after all.

Hera stopped in her tracks as she heard the stallion talking to her. She then turned her attention from the bae slave and onto the Jala stallion, her ears pricked forward to give him her full attention. "Nothing that comes to mind. Whenever you feel they are ready to mate just seek me out. I am usually wandering around this area everyday though sometimes I do wander away to a different place from time to time. But rest assured I will be here when you do come for the mating process."

She turned to her own slave and nodded her head at Eilir. "I am ready to go now. You best prepare yourself for the near future. I am sure you will be proud of your offspring that you are going to bear with Virgil as your 'mate'." She bobbed her head respectfully at Dahak before slowly walking away, her head and tail held up high. This was the happiest she had ever felt before.
