 He'd grown a bit into his wings and now could actually fly with them if he wanted to. Thankfully having to lug around two huge feathered appendages as a foal had made the muscles there stronger and he had learned how to use the double set to soar rather than spend time flapping.
He liked it up in the sky. It was cool and calm and he could forget about everything else.

She still had not done much in the way of flying just yet. Her body was currently at an awkward stage in development; caught somewhere between filly and mare. Her legs were longer, as was her mane and her wings... Well, they had not yet grown enough to catch up with the rest of her body.
She sighed softly as she gazed at her reflection in the pool of water that she'd found. Her mother had told her that she was growing into a lovely young lady but, at the moment, she just didn't see it. Maybe she would once she finished growing... But not quiet yet.

He brought himself down out of the air carefully near where he knew a small pond was. He shook his wings out and tucked them back carefully before he trotted in the direction of the water.
He hadn't expected to see someone else there and he was even more surprised when he recognized who it was. "Nyx?"

Her ears flickered slightly at the sound of her name. It wasn't her father's stern voice... Or the voice of either of her brothers... Nor was it the voice of the colt she'd met not long ago. Brow furrowing slightly she turned her head towards the sound, wanting to know who it was that called to her.
Her furrowed brow softened as she saw the familiar colors of wings that she had only seen once before; tips of red peeking out from beneath soft feathers of blue. "... Modecai." She smiled softly, dark eyes dancing. "Is it really you this time?"

"Hi." He grinned as he stepped toward the pool. She was still almost the same size that she had been and he'd most defiantly gotten larger. She probably hadn't recognized his voice now that it was deeper than it had been when he was a colt.
"You .... were looking for me?"

"Not... Exactly... I heard a voice once and thought it might have been yours... But it wasn't." She said almost sheepishly as she looked down at the ground between her hooves for a moment before glancing up at him. "I see you've grown into your wings. Did you fly here? Is it wonderful to feel the wind rustling your feathers?"

He nodded a bit. "I did ... i'm big enough i can use them now." They were still a bit large for him but at least now he could manage to do something with them. She seemed like she was growing into hers well too. So she would hopefully be even better at flying than he was.
"You heard voices?"

"A voice... It was another foal." She nodded slowly before giving her head a light toss, trying to knock a strand of mane that seemed stubborn back away from her face. "I... Thought it might have been you... Which was silly, of course, since there are other foals out there and that one didn't particularly sound anything like you."
Rather than let herself continue rambling she stopped, trying not to seem sheepish again. "Yes, you are... I told you that you would grow into your wings. Now I'm the awkward one."

That made sense in a way. There couldn't be only them as foals or there would have been something wrong in the world. And She had a brother so it wasn't just their families either.
"You're prettier though. Not fluff and gray." and she didn't have eyes like his or anything else. She looked like she belonged in the night.

"I... Guess I just don't see it. Mother has said that too... But what is there that's pretty about awkward legs, stringy mane and wings that are still too small to really do anything with?" She shook her head slowly as she glanced back at her reflection in the pond. "I don't need to be pretty though... So you don't have to worry about telling me I am when I'm not."
That said she looked back towards the male that she'd met once before as a foal. "It is good to see you again though, Mordecai."

"Should listen to mothers. They're smart." He nodded. His own was and he liked it when he listened to her. And her mother was smart, really smart, so that was even better. Mothers seemed to always be smart things.
"Your family wasn't mad at you for running off were they? Or getting lost, or finding me?"

"No, mother wasn't mad. She seemed to think that she'd lost me instead of the other way around... And I do listen to my mother. I just... Don't see it." She sighed softly. It was much easier trying not to think about things like that then it was to think about them.
"She didn't say anything about you beyond telling me that I should be careful around boys; especially once I was older... I still don't think that father knows that I've met anyone outside of family..."

He tilted his head and thought about that for a moment. "You ... dont' share things like that with your dad?" He didn't see much of his either but that was because he stayed with his grandmother when he wasn't wandering about all over the place.

"Father is... He's very... Protective." She thought that would be the best word to describe her father. At times it seemed as if it was the nicest way to describe him. She had wanted her memories of her first friend to be happy ones; not things that would somehow be tainted if her father was angry about them. "I would have liked keeping you to myself... If my brother hadn't stumbled upon us... Followed by my mother. Sometimes it's nice to have a friend that no one else knows about, isn't it?"

"So like an imaginary friend?" He grinned at her. "That way only you could talk to me and no one else could and you'd never have to share?" He always did think of things in the strangest way possible
