Kizuna, while she loved and cherished her adoptive family very very much, had been tired of hanging out with them, instead travelling out into the open that day. It seemed like a nice day; the sun was out and it wasn't as bright as usual...she could work with this.
Padding into an area she wasn't quite familiar with, Kizuna kept her head held high, unafraid of anything that could happen to come upon her. The pink and white numa was quite small, but she was brave, which made up for her stature tenfold. Besides, her 'brother' and best friend, Shinya, had never ever made fun of her, so she didn't really feel all that self conscious about it.
"hmm..." She studied the smaller animals around the foliage, noticing that they looked a little different compared to where she lived. But that was okay. Doing and seeing the same things day after day bored her. She knew this area would probably give her something different and exciting to do or see.

Jaden let out an inaudible sigh and nodded, Xiang was lecturing her, again, on something, she wasn't quite listening. Instead she was looking outside, with all the cold and snow they'd been having, days when the sun shone were a real treat, Jade didn't dislike the cold, but she did like the change and she wanted to go out and play.
Xiang turned around and Jade took the chance offered and bolted for the door, practically flying outside she jumped and ran and enjoyed the freedom, then two things happened; she spotted the other female and stopped in her tracks, she was lovely and almost blended in to the snow and surrounding but for the pretty pink that tickled her form. Jaden smiled and started over, but then Xiang came out and called for her, "Jaden!" He stopped when he saw the other pup as well, "Okay, you may play then, Jade, but don't go far."

Kizuna jumped when she heard a voice nearby. Looking over from where it came from, she was able to see a large numa...was that a male? And with such large wings...it was rare to see a boy like that. But then she saw the small girl out in the snow as well. She was a pretty dark green color that stuck out nicely from the snow, and her eyes were a dark purple, the look in them curious. She seemed pretty nice. The feminine male must of been talking to her. Jade something? Was that her name?
Kizuna put on her best 'first impression' smile and carefully walked over, her fishnet-covered paws sinking into the snow. The young female numa was even cuter up close.
"Hi there." Kizuna bowed her head in greeting, her pink eyes slipping shut for a second.
"What's your name?" The older numa asked, sitting down in the snow, showing that she didn't desire to go anywhere right now. She tilted her head and smiled gently, trying not to look as though she was rushing the other.

Jaden smiled widely at Xiang and nodded before trotting over to the other pup, she mimicked the actions and bowed her head too, but then she let a slight frown show on her maw, did everyone else have a voice of their own? Jade turned her face away and tried to think of a new way to get her name across to the other, her previous attempts with other pups had gotten close. Turning back to the other girl and smiling again she pointed at herself, she mouthed her name, but at the same time Xiang spoke it.
"Jaden." Xiang's feminine voice was soft, he had come over to explain to the girl pup, he knelt in the snow and with a soft voice spoke as if Jade couldn't hear him. "Jaden doesn't speak, but she's a very nice and very smart little girl, please do play with her and be nice to her." He patted Jade on the head then not noticing that she'd turned away from him and was frowning hard.
Jade hunched her shoulders and faced away from the male, wishing that he'd just go back in and leave her be, she was fine on her own.

Kizuna blinked, looking in between the small girl and the larger male as she mouthed the words and he actually made sounds in speaking. Jaden, as her name was now known, didn't seem to like what this elder was doing for her. The pink and white numa supposed she was more indepedent than the firey numa gave her credit for. That was surprising for such a quiet and small numa. But Kizuna respected that.
She smiled a little brighter, accepting the green and black numa. "It's really nice to meet you, Jaden. I'd be happy to hang around with you." It was only obvious now that Kizuna would be kind to the other, as she stood up and shook her pelt a little, snow fluttering off in different directions.
"Would you like to come walk around the area with me? It will be a lot of fun." The older girl grinned, showing her teeth, stepping away from them to lead the way.
Kizuna waited for the pretty numa patiently.

Jade nodded and perked at the idea and gave a thankful grin to the girl, dashing away with her as Xiang stood and with a nod headed back inside.
After going a few yards, kicking up snow and smiling wide, Jade slowed, she wanted to really thank the girl, but wasn't sure how. Her ears when up when she got an idea, making sure she had Kizuna's attention, she turned and headed into the trees, going just a bit and then stopping and pointing at some winter flowers, pale pinks and purples buds on short green stems, poking though the icy layer on the ground.

The pink and white numa automatically slowed down her own pace, watching the other curiously as Jaden moved off of their first snowy path.
Well, that was okay. Kizuna didn't mind.
She followed the smaller girl into the bushes, ears perked up. As the other girl couldn't speak, it was very interesting to see what she was up to. Kizuna couldn't help but be excited.
When the pink-eyed numa took notice of the tiny flowers cutely popping out of the thick snow, she stepped closer, her curious smile turning into a warm grin.
"Aww..they're so cute..and really strong, too, to be sticking out of such heavy snow." The elder of the two touched a purple bud gingerly with a claw. "I like them a lot." She looked up at the other girl as she spoke, smiling shyly and blushing a little.

Jaden nodded agreeing and smiled showing she was glad the other liked them she settled on her belly and took a real good look at the buds, she'd discovered them a day or two ago and was really looking forward to them blooming, and also to the weather warming up. Every day she felt it though it was a gradual thing, things were shifting, and livening up. Jade stood and shifted her head, the other had asked for a walk and she was satisfied that the flower buds were doing fine.

Kizuna watched the other smile, then move to resting on her tummy to look even closer, then stand up again and look at the pink and white girl for comfirmation that they continue their trip. She was really an interesting girl.
Upon standing up straight herself, she reached down to pluck one of the prettiest flowers from the snow. Carefully holding it in a paw, she stepped closer to Jaden, slipping the small pink bud into her emerald green hair.
"There." She giggled softly, rocking back onto her feet. "Perfect."
Kizuna pulled back from Jade, then, moving to start walking again. Her face was faintly red. "I can't wait to see the rest of them when they bloom completely in the spring. They'll be super pretty." The elder stepped carefully through the snow, the small crunching noise of the packed precipatation between her toes audible.

Jaden was a bit shocked when the other girl plucked a flower, but then it was put it in her hair and she smiled, wishing she'd thought of it first, as there weren't anymore that had bloomed. Jade nodded her head in thanks and agreeing. She followed after with a questioning look on her face, spring, was that what was happening to everything, she was so young that she only knew the cold on the season she'd been delivered into.

The girl watched Jaden as she looked around. Kizuna would admit that it was a little strange that only her voice hung in the air, the only other noise was the snow beneath them and the occasional sound of an animal nearby.
"Have you ever seen spring, or maybe even summer? The weather gets a lot warmer, and it's really sunny. Everything's green and bright, and the wind is cool. You get to play outside a lot more." Kizuna explained, continuing to walk. "I was born in the spring, so when it snowed, I was really surprised, you know?"

With a wide eyed stare Jaden shook her head, she grinned though, it sounded wonderful, and she was happy also to right, indeed things were changing!
As they were walking along, Jaden listened to very little sound and looked at all the snow laden bushes and trees, wondering what it'd all be like if and when the snow was gone, she was sure it would be nice, and maybe more flowers would show. Presently a load of snow dropped from a tree beyond them with a loud whump sounding and it startled Jade, she jumped a little and then grinned sheepishly when she realized what it was.

Kizuna could tell that this notion of the snow melting away and everything awake and growing was interesting to the green numa female. Maybe the pink and white numa would like spring better if she got to hang out with Jaden more.
"Oh! Be careful!" Kizuna giggled, turning to face the other when she heard the sound, smiling brightly as the snow piled itself right behind the other.
"Don't worry about it."
As they continued to walk, The elder of the two girls' mind began to wander. She wondered what it must be like to not have a voice at all, and how hard it must be to convey things in a different way than everyone else. Jaden was careful and patient, and Kizuna knew that if she were in the other's...feet..she wouldn't be able to handle this half as well as she had.
"Hey, Jaden..um, if you dont mind me asking..." Kizuna slowed her walk, moving next to the other. "Um, well...you dont have to answer me if you dont want to, cause it's really none of my business, but...how'd you lose your voice? Were you..uh..born, that way?" Kizuna winced; she couldn't think of a better way to word her phrase at all. Hopefully Jaden wouldn't be mad...

Jaden was enjoying the time with Kizuna well enough, the elder girl seemed to understand easily that she couldn't talk and what she was trying to get across when ideas came to her. As they continued walking in the moments of quiet Jaden's mind didn't fill with questions but instead wandered so when Kizuna stopped to ask her she turned all her attention on the white girl and tilted her head to one side to ponder how best to answer.
Sitting on her rump, she nodded and smiled slightly to show the other that she didn't mind the question, that she was not offended. Jade opened her maw and tried to say something, her mouth formed the words 'always like this' but just breath came out, indeed she couldn't squeak or giggle or make any word sounds escape with the air.

Kizuna squinted her eyes, leaning forward to watch the other's lips move.
"Al..ways..like....th..i.s. Always like this. Ohh, okay, I see." The girl nodded, relieved that Jaden wasn't upset by the question. Kizuna would definitely feel really bad if she had been.
"I'm so sorry about that, though. Must be hard on you, not being able to communicate like others..." Kizuna looked down, but tried to be happy for the other. "I know if I was you, I'd be so lost and confused." She giggled. "You're very brave, I think. Braver than me."
"Oh, also, who was that male numa who I was talking to? Is that your father?" It was possible; they looked nothing alike, though.
