 In the dead of winter, nothing was spared from the cold. Jynx shivered where she sat and wrapped her cloak tighter to her lanky frame. It hadn't been long ago that Fiore had told her that she reigned from a mountain tribe of centaurs who were hell bent on taking over the entire island. They were already the strongest of their kind, why push it? Sighing, she rose up to her full height. Most male centaurs were easily intimidated because she was easily as tall as they but Jynx never really gave it much thought. They might, though. " At least I'm not going alone, " She told herself. Her dearest friends were going to make the journey with her. I hope nothing happens to them...

 'Finally another grand journey that's going to allow me to travel far from the meadow.' Xylia smiled triumphantly before readjusting her bow which rested across her back. The pinto centaur was very skilled with archery and only carried some small knives or daggers in her pack that she had put together for the journey with her best friend. 'So cold!' Xylia shivered in the bitter wind and glared at the sky, as if it was to blame for the winter weather. Sighing she pulled her scarf around her neck tighter and looked back to see how Kale was doing.  The older centaur smiled at Xylia and gave her an I'm okay nod and she turned content. But truthfully Kale was shivering and had to repeatedly rub his hands together to fight against the cold air that surrounded them. Please allow us to go into warmer lands with Miss.Jynx. He silently pleaded before hearing a shout. "Jynx!" Xylia raced ahead and waved at her childhood friend. "We finally made it!" Her enthusiasm made Kale grin, and to Jynx he nodded allowing his eyes to carry on his greetings more than words ever could.

Jynx giggled and ran over to Xylia, attack her friend in a warm hug. " You have no idea how happy I am to have you two coming with me! " She stepped back to adjust the supplies pack that was slung over her horse-like back, satchels hanging on each side to keep balance. As if to curse their entire group, snow began falling from the sky in giant flakes.
" Oh great, " Rolling her eyes, the centaur rubbed her forearms. Should I tell them now? When the journey got under way, it would be hard and possibly life threatening if they turned back. I'd better tell them. " Before we get started, theres something I need to tell you. " Taking a deep breath, she continued. The mustang centaur turned around and pointed to the mountain behind her, in which it's snowy tip disappeared into the clouds. " We're going all the way to the top. "

Xylia watched the snow come with a sigh...it figured they'd be unlucky. She followed Jynx's gaze and took a step back, "All the way?" Even though her voice was shaky her resolve made her eyes grow hard and determined. "It won't matter...we came to help you no matter what." She looked back to Kale with a secret look...even if they were desert centaurs and weren't used to the cold, it couldn't be helped.
"We won't desert you, Jynx." Kale nodded in agreement and after fixing his strap that held his broad sword walked up to Jynx. His breath was warm and he whispered in her ear, "And even if it gets too cold we can always use each other's body heat." He winked and patted her back somewhat friendly.

Jynx's smile couldn't have been brighter. " Well, let's get started then! " A slight rosy blush spread across her cheeks, but not because of the chill. Pulling her hood over her head, the centaurette trotted on forward and kept up with a brisk pace, hardly aware that a blizzard was blazing around her.
For a mountain taur such as herself the fierce temperatures would only take a short amount of time to become a normal occurance, not a hindrance.

Xylia held tightly to Kale's hand as he took the middle and she the rear of the party. 'Kale's been out in cold temperatures before...' She reminded herself thinking of the cold evenings in the desert...but even so had it been this cold? "For once I wish I had magic like a cattaur." She whispered.
Kale squeezed the younger centauress' hand reassuringly before picking up speed to catch Jynx. He exhaled and tried to formed a mental barrier against the cold, but couldn't shivering at the sight of his breath. "Jynx! Are we going to travel straight towards the top or take a break?!" He yelled just to be heard by the other mustang.

The road could barely been seen by this point. Snow fell off of the tree branches for it's sheer weight, snapping with loud cracks that sent shivers down her spine. Still, something compelled her further on, something instinctual....
Jynx snapped out of her thinking and turned round. She couldn't even see her friends anymore! 'No, they can't get caught up. They'll die!' What a fool she'd been to try and force such a trip on them, when she knew full well that they were desert dwellers.
" We'll take a break! " She cried out into the whiteness, cupping her hands next to her mouth. Peering around, she searched desperately for any sign of a cave, cabin, something! " There! To your right, just a little ways in a small cave. I think we can all fit! " 'And if we can't, I'll stay out.'

Kale led Xylia to the cave and both stood around in it. "Small, but it'll fit all of us." Commented Kale as Xylia nearly collasped with a sigh. He nodded to her and then peered out side to look for Jynx.
Xylia unhooked her pack and pulled out something that Xennek and Willow had made for them. She smiled at the thought of the foxtaur cooking, but opened the leaflet like package to see pills inside. "What the?" She held onto them, and would ask Kale when he came back.
The centaur had walked outside and spotting Jynx yelled her over, "There's enough room for us all! So let's consider this a break!" He waved, doubting that she could see him well.

She held firm to the path until she was sure that her friends were safely inside of the cave. It would be a battle to stay warm in such weather, so she could only hope for the best.
Using various leather straps she had pack, Jynx bundled up every piece of usable wood she could gather. It wasn't much, but maybe they could live with it. " Alright! " She called, trotting through the snow to the direction of Kale's voice. Seeing him only made a smile bright as the Spring time sun shine upon her face.
A look of worry crossed her face, " Is Xylia alright? " She didn't see the centaurette.

Kale nodded, "Xylia is fine, she just decided to go on ahead and get inside." He smiled back at the centaurette and ushered her in. "Let me help you with that wood." He held out his arms, ready to help.
Xylia however was trying to decipher the note that had come with the medicine. 'How in the world...' Frowing she flipped the note over and over again...'Maybe Kale can decipher it.'

Jynx shook her head, favoring a sweep back to her lower half where all the wood was bundled up tight. " I can handle it. " She smiled, " I appreciate the offer, though. Maybe I'll take it up sometime in the future. " As she trotted by, the centaurette kept her body closer to Kale so that she could brush up against his arm, a mischievious smirk on her face.
If only I could tell you that you make my heart stop. Every little butterfly inside of her was dancing about in glee. Blushing madly, Jynx started up a fire in the center of the cave. As she preped up the stones, her eyes shifted over to Xylia....and her note? " Oooh, what's that? " She smirked, " A love note? "

Kale blinked and shook his head rapidly to clear his face. 'Must behave....' He cursed silently, Jynx might not know it but she definitely was making behaving a hard thing.
Xylia rolled her eyes at her friend, "Yeah, a love note from..." She paused as the other centaur entered the room, "Kale!" Wait...did that come out right? Tilting her head she waved the centaur over, "It's in your writing, so decipher it for me!" Xennek...using the desert style that I'm so rusty and sloppy with. Silently she pouted and in her mind, shook her fist at the foxtaur. He must really be wanting me to learn it since he keeps using it lately.

" A love note from Kale? " Jynx reared back, her face a mirror of confusion. Really, if he'd wanted to give her the damn thing shouldn't he have done it before this whole trip. I mean, how absolutely- " Oh! " Her face cleared up with a smile, a little puff of relieved air slipping through. " Sarcasm again, right? It seems that everyone knows how to use it just right but me. "
Curious as she was, the centaurette decided her efforts were better suited for stoking the fire and preparing a decent meal for her companions.

Hmm? Xylia peered over at Jynx with a small smile, "Would it matter if it was?" Approaching Jynx she left Kale with the confusing scribbles. There's something in the air...she hummed loudly before rubbing her cold arms. Thank goodness for the fire.
Kale shook his head before returning to Xennek's instructions. "Heating medicine, Xylia." He stated suddenly and folded the note back up, "Let's save the pills for when we really need them....theres..." Rummaging around in the pack he started to silently count how many there really were.

Jynx giggled after winking up at Xylia. " Of course it would! It would mean that you two were hiding a relationship and I would be very hurt by it. " She put her hand on her chest in a very dramatic way. " Oh, but it's nothing now, so no worries! " Grinning, she tugged Xylia down to join her. She reached back into her pack of goodies and retrieved a few squirrels that had already been skinned.
" Heating pills? " What in the world was a pill? Whatever they were, she certainly wouldn't be taking one of them. Anything to voluntarily cause heat was a curse in her eyes.
