I just wanted to see who has been hit with a flag, or pole, or anything by colorguard while marching...???
And also, while talking about colorguard ours has a point system
Piccolo - 100pts.
Flute - 90pts
Clarinet - 80pts
Trumpet - 70pts
F. Horn - 50pts
Baritone - 50pts
Sousaphone/Tuba - 30pts
Does anyone else have a pt system?
I've been hit two times my whole marching "career"
Discuss-
-Color Guard and their strange ways
-Being hit by flags, poles, ect (eg stories)
-Things revolving around that
-Point System...???

I've been hit too many times to name.
Actually one year this girl in my section got the flag actually stuck on the flag and it comeplete took the top off her clarinet. lol

Its electric! I've been hit too many times to name.
Actually one year this girl in my section got the flag actually stuck on the flag and it comeplete took the top off her clarinet. lol One of the flags ate our school, the cloth part stuck into the keys of the flute, and made the flute fly up into the players face X_x

Lol. This is amusing. I've been on colro guard for 2 years, going on 3, and i think i've only hit someone once. But it wasn't while we were marcing. Now, hitting myself is a differnt story.

okay i will admit sometimes we are strange. And no one gets it outside of the guard but its fun. i have been in colorguard 2 seasons and winterguard 1 going on 2 seasons. And i have never hit anyone with my flag. but i know people that have. And the band members hit people too i have been hit in the head with a tuba. oh yeah and i think i hit myself at least once a practice. i love guard.

i hit an alto sax player once, but it was so funny...
the neck of her sax was off, being fixed cuz, well, she broke it.
so i was two steps behind her at a four count halt, doing a strip toss. it was early in the season, my first year in colorguard (aka this was this august), so i wasn't too good. it went forward and landed between her face and the sax, landing on her neck strap. and for a while, while drill issues were being worked out, i was tossing a parallel over a flute players head, and not once did ihit her.

Okay, guard does hit the band members. I've got a story to top that. xD
First game, I hadn't hit anyone. Right after half time, I was walking behind a bass-drum player to play the team on. (don't get ahead of me...xD ) Someone called his name, he turned around...and his bass-drum hit me in the nose.
So yeah, I got my nose broken by a bass-drum player. o.0 I thought /I/ was supposed to be the one hitting people. xD

Like our instructor tells us "If your going to hit someone, Hit 'em hard!". I once hit a drum really hard with my flag and practically killed a trumpet player. xD
It was weird though at one competition a baritone whacked my head and the stepped on my flag. I was all "Wow . . that was different!" xD It hurt.

I'm in the guard and have been for three years and this past year in our marching show I had to march through a curve b/t a sophomore and a freshmen and the french horns could never get her spacing right, I hit her or her horn 8 or 9 times... And the year before I hit a trumpet like 3-5 times b/c the space was like 1 step apart and I had a toss to through right when he was passing behind me.

We don't have a point system, but we do have a saying, "If your gonna hit them, hit them hard. If it's the drum line, hit 'em harder." My ex was in drum line. xD

Hey for one the flag is not stupid! I haven't hit any one and I had the most compilcated drill in the show this year. (I am a freshmen) Well I did hit some one once but he was in my drill spot. "If they are in your way run them over...they won't do it again." That is what we are told. =)

our point system was roughly the same, but if we hit the field judges it was like catching the proverbial snitch...same with band directors...

we dont have a point system, but thats a great idea!
i usually aim for the drummers, just cuz theyre fun to hit and always in my way!
tho ive been hit by my own flag / rifle / sabre too many times to count.
it doesnt really hurt anymore. XD
