hiiiii. :]
i'm a flutist, but i asked for, and surpisingly recieved, a baritone for christmas. i couldn't stomach the trumpet emboucher and i hated the positions on the tombone, so the baritone was a happy medium for me as a brass instrument. besides, it's tone is so much prettier than the former mentioned. :]

I can play any brass instrument. They're the best.

Bari's don't quite stack up to a Tuba, though. :C

Euphonium is a Baritone.

Euphonium is NOT a baritone.
This is something that has been scewed by instrument companies in the past to push the prices of certain instruments (mainly if the instrument had four valves, they considered it a euph) higher.
A euphonium is more conical, while a baritone, though not as cylindrical as a trombone, is more so. This means that euphoniums have a wider bore and a deeper more mellow tone than that of a baritone.

Gosh..it's like saying a silver piccolo is the same a wooden one. Def not the case. Sorry, but you have been mislead and I had to let you know. You have been educated, do not be angry. ;]

Thank you! Finally someone who understands. I've played both and everyone's always like, "how can you play both, they're the same". Grr.

OMG I'M NOT ALONE IN THE WORLD! -faints-

Yush. I play Baritone and Euphonium. Started out of Baritone, of course, cuz our music teacher considers them like, the same thing. Anybody here happen to play Violin as well? xD Whoo! Baritones unite!

-clings- I love you guys already.

I loooove my Euphonium and Baritone! I just love playing jazz songs on the baritone because of the first valve thumb slide.... Slide that beast in and out for some awesome note slurs, like a trombone, but with better innotation!

But you just cant beat the Fourth valve on the Euphonium.... I will stomp you all when it comes to playing low.... Who where can hit a low low F or a B flat, IN TUNE WITH A STROBE TUNER..... Once you can do it.... we'll talk wink

But Still..... Any Euphonium/Baritone player is my friend!!!!

Um I can hit double pedals. With a Baritone or Euphonium. And Baritone isn't really a jazz instrument either...

I see. Thank you for the correction with the Baritone/Euphonium mixup. I play Baritone T.C. and I can hit a VERY LOW note. I cannot for the life of me think of the name of the note but I did hit it many times. It is not that hard really.

Wolflovingirl - I don't use marching Baritone. My teacher just has us play out concert instruments. Quite easy really.
