Yup. The trombone is the state instrument of Iowa, thanks to the Music Man. My grandparents live in the city it was filmed in. Woohoo! 8D

My old jazz teacher said that the Trombones are the instrument of the Gods, cuz you can tune with just a slight adjustment of the wrist. He was totally right of course...

i hate playing trombone.. i was stupid enough to attempt it for my brass class. i know all of the positions and i can manage a sound, but putting the two together is just a mystery to me. i have the utmost respect for trombonists; especially the marching ones. i'd take the baritone any day. or, better yet for me, just the flute. ;]

It's one of those instruments that takes a particular kind of person to play. Just like anything else, that's why we have different instruments. I personally can't play the clarinet or sax worth crap, but I can pull out some notes on anything else. But if you can hit the high notes on the flute I envy you...and pity you if you decided to play pic...hehe. biggrin

Ehh, i play trombone in the school's wind ensemble. It's hard for the upper register, but the lower register (including pedal notes) is easy if you can learn to open your throat (which opens your teeth too).
Honestly, trombone isn't that great to me.

XD
I play Trombone... High notes can be a pain in the a** but remembering keys would be killer for me... Remembering how to hold the damn thing would be hard enough on anything else... So I stick to meh T-bone and life is good ^^ cool

T-Bones FTW!!!! Yeah!!! It's so easy, but so difficult. I'm really bad at it. I was just about the only person who played the test not to make Symphonic band, so I'm stuck in concert. I'm the only girl in my section there to!
