Right as I'm about to get new pants, AND it's AV weekend, my computer has a disk read error.

I'm going to cry when I see a friend of mine with more resillience than me now sad

What are these "welfare epics" you speak of?

Honor gear? PVP gear in general? How is that welfare? It takes a lot of freaking time to farm honor and/or arena points. Or do you somehow think that people who get PVP gear have it handed out to them for no effort at all?

welfare epic? what does that mean?

A lot of the Kara runs requires people to have at least 3 purple items that are level 70 (at least on my server) now... how am I suppose to get that? We could run multiple instances of different area and hoping to get a drop or spend the same amount of time honor grind and get marks.

Generally the marks are easy to get, its the honor that takes some time. Average honor gain per the following BG

WSG -50-100 Time to play: 10minutes to 2 hours (my longest)
AB - 200-300 Time to play: 15 minutes to 40 minutes
AV - 200-400 time to play: 10 minutes to 1 hour
EoTS - 150-300 time to play: 15 minutes to 35minutes

now of course this does not include double honor weekend or actually winning wink . Winning BG gives you a little extra bonus but that is the average.

Most level 70 epic gear (armor) ranges from 14k to 18k
A single epic weapon is 27k (for my bow which I haven't gotten)

If you look at the honor requirement, mark requirement and such, it is a lot of time sink. You could spend the same amount of time running instances and get the "same stuff" if you are lucky to get drops.

so I don't see the welfare in any of them sad

now of course if you are comparing old BG system VS new BG system. It is easier with the new system which allows non-hardcore players to get gear as well.

I guess thinking people here would understand the term welfare epics was asking too much

Welfare epics S1 arena gear, people who cant spend the time in the arena to get a decent raiting to get S2 and S3, so they farm BG. I remember when having S1 meant something and now I see ******** warlocks running around with all S1 and the bringer of death. Warriors with that axe from the ring of blood and hunters who act even more cocky.

If the extent of your pvp is farming BG for honor and marks just so you can have S1 till the next expansion.

its an epic fail

LOL, all those people who spent their "Time" in arena.

10 games a week. ********, you can lose all 10 if you want, and get a piece of Vengeful in three weeks.

Merc and Vengeful are the REAL welfare epics.

You spend a ******** more time getting S1 than you ever will getting S3.

Some people are bad, and others don't like the pressure of raiding and doing Arena. If you ******** up, people get really, really pissed in raids and Arenas.

have never actually been to te arena.., well once but it was kind of an accident. I kind of promised myself not to go there until i reached at least lvl forty, and i don't play often enough, that my highest is only 37, and has been stuck there at around a year now, my main is only lvl 30, so i can't go to the arena yet particularly because I am stubborn. I imagine though, if i did, that i would take that stufff if it was better than what I had until I got something better... but it would be in no form of showing off...

REM, stop making yourself sound like a bitter idiot.

We're not talking about the gurubashi arena, we're talking about the lv 70 arena that requires teams.

I agree with Seth, about everything except this:

Quote:
Merc and Vengeful are the REAL welfare
epics.

Mostly because I ******** hate that term, and theres no such thing as welfare epix except for maybe if your buddy gets a purple boe world drop and decides to give it to you for like 10g or something.
I do arenas AND BGs, cuz I like the pvp. I'm not very good at either, so my rating is kinda shittty (1400 at last count), but they're fun (******** of fun) so honestly, I could care less.
I'd also like to remind everyone that this is, in fact, a game. You play because its fun, not because its a job or because you have to. If ever you find yourself logging on for just these reasons, I suggest you take a step back and uninstall the game.

I spent like a month getting the 2 pieces of s1 I have now (the staff and the robe, 2 most expensive pieces), and have only played in 25+ arena games. Honestly I find theres a bit of a stigma with doing arenas, people tend to be elitist jerks about it.
Doing arena the first season it came out doesnt make you any cooler than the schmuck who's been arena-ing for a week.
So why dont you shut up and give some advice for arena newbs instead of blustering about how you're awesome (which is the extent of what I got from that post)? Make a thread about it.
Point is, people with those 'welfare epix' worked just as hard as you did to get them. Who's an epic failure again?

I never did Arena because I don't know people enough to trust with 5v5 or something like that.

Don't you lose all your score if your team break up? What if one person totally screw you over? I know there are guild and such but there are always people out there who intend to "hurt" people cause that is their version of fun.

I don't mind BG as much because it doesn't matter which group I'm with. What I do in the BG I earn it. (win or lose) I don't have to ensure the happiness of 4 other people (5v5) arena teams to get my gear.

Of course in BG, it is hard enough to get 10,15,40 people to listen.... yeesh.. I think that is a whole new level work itself.

I understand that some people who have been playing longer and with older system feel cheated, but remember, the game is try to cater to a lot of people (what? 9 million right?) and not everyone can play total hardcore and such that is why there are still super high level raiding (20-40people raid) for those still want "uber items" or PvP to get s2 or s3 items.

Alliance don't play AV on my battlegroup... so unless i'm willing to wait 2 hours for pugs, no AV for me crying

We're damned after all.
Through fortune and flame we fall.
And if you can stay then I'll show you the way,
To return from the ashes you call.
We all carry on
When our brothers in arms are gone
So raise your glass high
For tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.

The most retarded literate Warlock to date.

You work for what, 10 minutes to get 500 honor in AV if you're lucky. Considering you have NO Q, let's see how long playstime it is to get to the cheapest peice of S1, which is around 10k being conservative.

20x20 = 400. 400/60 = 6.6 hours.

You walk into Karazhan and kill Nightbane and get a new item.

15 minutes. .25 of an hour.

But wait, you cry and say you didn't get that item? Okay. Another hour to down Moroes, if you're decent. Maybe another hour or two to down Maiden. 3 hours 15 minutes spent, half of that you'd spend to get some bracers. Not to mention, 6 badges. Along with the fact that you can progress further and get trash epics, go for the miniboss with random stats on an epic level, or do more bosses if your team is up to it.

You still get epics faster than a BG.

Epic Resillience items are required, because going into arena you need 300 resillience or you go spiraling down the suck hole.

"Welfare Epics" refers most to arenas because you can play an hour a week on your ten games to get your points. Battlegrounds is a different story (even then, you don't even need skill, just time and effort. what makes raiding hard is organizing a group of 10 or 25 people who may kill the boss (if absolutely nobody screws up, and if they have the right gear and attunements anyway) and who will be competing with you for the loot which may or may not drop).

So yes, in battlegrounds, you spend the same time and effort, but other than that you can get what you want. For arenas, they are handed to you. For raiding, you have to work and be good--all 10-25 of you.
