Island of Moreau Vice Captain

The Helicopter Pad is the first impression most new arrivals have of the Island. A square black tarmac with a big white circle with an H in the middle of a clearing cut away from the jungle. A dirt jeep-road stretches from the mat to a cluster of buildings that are built into the side of a nearby mountain in the center of the island. Aside from the buildings in the distance, however, the island truly seems like a wild, tropical sanctuary; full of mystery and tingling with the unknown. All around the clearing is dense, tropical jungle resonant with strange bird and animal calls, and the smell of ocean fills your nose.

Once the helicopter was beginning to gradually slow down, Hargun Aikason nearly lept from her seat. Her usual excited self; both getting to the destination and getting off some sort of long and tiring type of transportation, took over as she griped the edges of her rather large sketchbook, making her palms red. The small carrry-on bag that was wrapped around her shoulder kept trying to slip off. She looked like some eager puppy only in a young adult's body, making her look even more silly.
Glancing over to the person who was traveling with her, she smiled. "I'm so excited.. this arts director guy you know? Not only is he giving us scholarships, but hes giving us like.. paradise to work at!" she blurted out, then pulled out her pencil like some news reporter, ready to draw or write down her first thoughts and ideas of how the island was going to be like.
It had been a tough year for her in school. All of her friends that were senors that year were gathering up their things and heading off to college. She wasnt of age yet, but the scholarships, offers, and deals that she was persistant to get were starting to pour in. Several of them required her to go to a somewhat "foreign" location, or somewhere she really hadnt been before or in a long time to sketch out still lifes; potraits; and anything else that felt out of the ordinary..
But then there had been this unbelieveable offer that seemed to surpass the rest. It too involved a scholarship. But it also included free stay at a remote island. All part of some sort of artists' community run by one very rich man. Hargun could hardly believe it when she was offered it, but immediately signed up and headed out. Now she was almost there.. almost to the first few steps to getting the career she dreamed about; the education and inspiration any artist would need to make it big time. She was almost there.. and was going along with another person. It couldnt possibly get any better, she thought.

Timothy stared out the window the entire trip. It was calm on the ocean, full of nothing but water and waves. He felt like he could stare at it forever. This girl sat beside him and seemed to be very, excited. At her question he didn't look away from the window and just said "I guess."
Timothy was far from home, he was greatful that he'd found a place far from society's demands. His homelife hadn't been perfect, his dad had walked out on his mom. His mom hadn't understood him, she hadn't been sympathetic to him at all. He'd always been a musician and a poet at heart, but honestly, he found it hard to write sometimes.
Perhaps he just didn't just, have the right inspiration. He always lamented the fact that he'd never found love. He didn't expect love to work for him, if you believed the songs it never did. But maybe having it fail would give him what he was lacking. Ahhh... he could see the island from here. Maybe he'd finally find his inspiration on this island, away from it all.

A tall, curvy woman was waiting for them at the helicopter pad. Her brown hair was pulled back and held under a grey beret. She wore a red shirt and khaki shirt under a long, white labcoat, and she put her hand up to sheild the light from her eyes as she watched the helicopter land.
When the door opened, the woman fought the whirlwind from the rotors and rushed upt o greet the two young people waiting inside.
"Welcome to The Island!" She yelled over the whirr of the motors. "My name is Dr. Lockheart, this way, please?"
She stepped back and motioned for them to follow her.

Hargun glanced back once at Tomothy then quickly jumped out as soon as Aubrey stepped back. She tried to keep her bright orange hair out of her eyes as she darted quickly away from the copter. It wasnt much use as she reached Aubrey and was spitting out hair and rubbing the itchyness from her eyes. Panting, Hargun tried to straighten herself up and fix the flaps of clothig that went completely out of shape then smiled at Aubrey.
"Hiya Dr. Lockheart" she said, and tried to stick out a hand to shake, since the other was smothering her sketchbook.

The young man dressed in black with the messy hair stepped off the helicopter at all. He didn't make any indication to fix his appearence, his hair not looking much more messy than it had before. He sort of nodded his head in Aubrey's direction and mumbled.
"Afternoon Dr. Lockheart..." he said in a nice, but soft and sort of hard to understand voice. He adjusted his guitar strap and went ahead and got into her jeep. The entire time he never even looked completely at her face.

Aubrey gave a funny look to the young man, but just shook her head. "Well....uhm..." she grabbed the young woman's hand and shook it vigerously. "Its great to have you!"
She ushered her to the Jeep and opened the door for the young people. She glanced down at her clipbaord. "Miss Hargun and Mr. Timmothy, correct?" By now the helicopter was already dissapearing into the distance. "As I was saying, its so very nice to have you two here. I hope you enjoy your stay."
Aubrey got in the drivers seat and pulled off down the path. "First stop is the labs for a medical overview. Mostly to get your first innocolation. Protocal, of course."

Hargun's hyper and energetic mood seemed to hesitate at the mention of innocolation. No matter how many ways you put it.. shots and her didnt mix. She'd often get nautious even when getting pricked with the tinyiest needle. "Uhm..." she began to say, but figured it was best not to argue. Instead she just looked around in all directions, soaking in as much of the paradise as she could.
Before she could think apon the matter of a shot any longer, there was a wide grin on her face and her finger kept taping at her sketchpad where she began to just scribble down one or two things here and there. She hadnt even gotten to her residence and her imagination was leaking everywhere.
-What a mess.-

Timothy watched the road more than the jungle surrounding them as it wound through the thin path.
I ride my windy road...
His attention was completely unfocused on anything else at this point. He had entered his own little world, he did this from time to time.
...a road that feels like it can't end.
The two women seemed to be rather cheerful.
Colors pass my eyes...
But he wasn't really comfortable around women.
...but they pass too fast for me to see.
Hmmm, maybe this place would work out.

The Island was wonderful. The day was slightly overcast, but it didn't detract much from the beauty of the island. The jungle was thick, humid, and hot, but alive with colors and sounds and smells. Everything smelled clean, from the fruits growing wild to the smell of the sea on the breeze.
As the drove down the path, a large mountain towards the center of the island came into view. Crawling up its sides was a large, grey scientific complex with "Feral Laboratories" blazed in red across the largest building. It was nestled amoung the thick jungle on the mountain, looking a bit out of place, yet it didn't seem to interfere with the island's natural charm.
The Jeep pulled to a halt in front of the complex. She hopped out and opened the doors for her passengers. "So nice to see such fresh young faces," she said, looking rather chipper and friendly. There was definately a bounce in her step and a gleam in her eye.

Hargun smiled at the compliment, nodded, and climbed out of the jeep and stopped on the ground for a moment to retie one of her shoelaces then cram her sketchbook into the small knapsack; which cause it to tighten up into a deformed shape. "heh.." she laughed to herself and just decided to sling it over her back the way it was meant to be carried and stood back up.
"Wow.." Hargun said, looking around. The odd but almost fully natural look of how the buildings and jungle had blended together amazed her. "By the way, Dr. Lockheart, why exactly is it manditory we get a shot?" she asked, then flashed a few obvious reasons why in her head, picked the best one she could find, and assumed it was the reason. "So that we don't get any diseases exsclusive to the island?" she said and looked around on the ground, trying to look for anything interesting that might come in handy for ides later.

Timothy snapped out of his own world to hear Aubrey say
"So nice to see such fresh young faces,"
The faces on the wall...
He watched Hargun struggle with her sketch book.
...their stares feel like they are pushing down on me.
"I don't like shots much either..." he really didn't care much at this point, atleast he was feeling inspired. The change was good for him. He had to admit, through the hair that fell in front of his eyes, the laboratories were pretty impressive.

Aubrey led them towards the mirrored glass doors. THey had no handles, but as she approached, they slid open cleanly. The interior of the lobby looked more like a hotel than a lab. There were plush couches and expensive rugs on a marble floor.
"Oh, I'm sorry about the shots, but it has to be done. Don't you know this is actually a testing facility where we turn people into animals!" Aubrey wiggled her fingers and gave a mock growl. Wow, she was in a mood. She then looked up a passing monitor and winked at it. She scribbled something down on her clipboard and led them towards the elevator. Once again, there were no buttons or handles, but it just opened when she got close.
"Floor Three," she sand cheerfully, and the elevator headed up.

Hargun gave Aubrey a really dull look... that kind of stare that made many 'colorful' words escape just by the expression. But as they entered the elevator, she merely rolled her eyes and looked over to Timothy and broke out in casual conversation. Surely this guy could seem at least a tad bit more energized.. he looked like she would on a day that she had sat around and did nothing but sleep.
"So.. uhm Timmothy you dont like shots either?" she said then looked back in the corner of her eye at Aubrey again. "That was kinda stupid.. about the animal thing. "

As they walked to the door which opened itself Timothy's mind began to drift again.
I see doors open for me...
The door closed behind him as he walked through.
...but they close before I reach.
He was lead into the lab and into the elevator which opened by itself as well.
Elevators lift me up...
The elevator began to accend.
...as my sorrow brings me down.
Timothy pulled his arms up together and crossed them. He rubbed one of them as he continued to look down. "They just... scare me a bit. I'll be okay if I don't look though." he smiled looking particurally sensetive at this point.
