I like all three! Timpani is my favorite though, since that's what I played this year xD

By the way, what's the coolest visual the tenors have done? xD

Any marching timpani's out there?

Is it even physically possible to march with timpanis?
Maybe in the pit,
But not marching.

I also love the timpanis.
They just sound so commanding!

I haven't gotten to play tenors yet
(First year marching)
But they sound really cool and I hope to play them.

Yeah it is physically possible! I mean WAY BACK WHEN there were actually marching timpani's. xD

I saw a timpani with a harness...and it amazing xD However, it was realy, really, really old...and amazing.

Timpani is great though : )
I got to play this year as a freshman and we went to Grand Nats. x)

IT WAS SO...AWESOME!

I played timpani this year. It was fun but I hated it when we forgot the stool at the band room and I had a glissando between the 29 and the 26 and a beat to change. That was just jumping from drum to drum.

Me too. Plus we had two timpani mallets threw out the whole year, one pair that didnt match, and one that was a T2. so every five minutes I was gettin yelled at to be louder, and im like, well get me louder mallets and we'll talk. So I just bought some for Christmas. Another thing that didnt work out was the tension on the drums didnt work as well so I had like three notes to tune to them all so I had to tune them all high, so every five minutes the tuning was sliding down. BUT we had someone come in once marching band was happened and fixed them. Now they reach actual notes.

Quints (tenors) are my favorite percussion instrument to play! I got to march them as co-section leader my senior year. It was so much fun! I wish I could do it again...

I was also the only person capable of playing the timpanis for my junior and senior year so I got all the timpani parts. I loved it! I also play baritone horn, so I could easily read the notes and tune them better than an average drummer. ^_^
I love toms, timpanis and quints! heart

Oh neat! I played guiter for about half a year, and took piano lessons for awhile, but I don't play them anymore.

I was wondering how many more people there were like me!

I'm in 8th, and I play Quads for drumline, snare and sometimes drum set for band, and I almost sometimes play Timpani.... crazy, right? Well, when I get good on Quads, I'll maybe move up to Quints Freshman year, and it's gonna help me on Drumset. And as everyone will say, Drums rule

I'm on quints for the second year in a row, and my instructor Pat is crazy when it comes to visuals. I think some of the craziest stuff we've done is just randomly going to another person's drum and start playing on that before switching back to our own. He also had us stand on one foot and cross the other one over it, claiming it looked cool...In case you couldn't tell, our instructors are crazy.

well playing on another person's snare is written in our first cadence, but its pretty much easy. and my instructor (whos also the band director) Mr. Arias, tells me to get creative on quads and i cant really think of anything. so i try to remember things Joey Jordison can do on toms and go from there. but standing on one leg and the other crossing it, what?

my first section leader (who played quints) was named Pat. but he's not exactly an instructor. He was certainly crazy though.
He's the only drummer I know that can manage to break metal sticks...

Nice. As for the foot thing, it's just some weird stance that Pat came up with that causes me to fall on my a** half the time...
