Island of Moreau Vice Captain
|
Posted: Wed Aug 17, 2005 1:15 pm
A series of connected freshwater rivers snake their way over a majority of the island, occasionally pooling into larger lakes. The water is fresh and sweet to the taste, and is home to a variety of fish. A welcome respise to the hot, humid air the lakes and rivers in most areas are ideal for swimming, however large snakes and crocodiles have been spotted from time to time, especially closer to the jungles. The largest lake is, uncoincidentally, right by the village.

It was cloudy but still deeply clammy on the island and as the heat of the day became unbearable, Pyroth finally gave into the urge to go have a swim. However, he still maintained his grudge against the sea and decided that the lake looked like the best place to head into. Getting changed into the provided swimming trunks and putting on some sunscreen, he headed down to the water's edge, all the while looking around almost without realising it, to make sure that there was no one around ot see him go into the water. He was surprisingly self-concious about his appearance. However, this preoccupation provided a welcome distraction from the water itself and withoug considering how cold it could be, he walked straight in.
That was how he usually dealt with his fears, by taking them on head on. Of course, once he was in up to his chest, he decided to go out no further, the chill waters making him deeply uneasy. This would do to cool off, he wouldn't tempt fate.
Moving a little further into the shallows, he actually ventured a few swimming strokes, not strong or decent, just enough to keep him afloat. He simply contented himself from then by swimming back and forth in the cool waters.

((I hope I am not interrupting anything. Otherwise the Dude will happily continue on his way - just say so ^_^))
The Dude had emerged from his duplex, diving gear slung across his shoulder, and headed down to the beach. To reach the beach he had to walk around the lake next to the village. Smocking his cig and minding his own business he was casually strolling along the narrow sandy trail. Almost making it half way round the lake, the Dude stopped, observing unfamiliar red head of hair hanging out in the water. At first he thought it was Madison, but on second look he realized that the head was clearly male.
"Yo!" - he hollered, eager to find out who the hell this new face was.

(Not interrupting anything at all over here , I just posted an rp intro since I'm on a different timezone but neverthless need rp XD)
Pyroth had spotted the Dude at a distance, his deep red gaze pretty good when it came down to it. The blonde man was certainly new to Pyroth, he hadn't seem him arrive, or seen him since, though that was probably more down to Pyroth's almost hermit-like reclusiveness to his duplex.
He stayed where he was in the shallows, pretty relecutant to leave the water and return to that heat and uncomfortableness. Instead he contented himself to nod in greeting to the other man.
"Good Morning."

((Allright, well, let's take our time here, then. Assume though, that this RP takes place before Ambrose grew fur. It's easier to do an intro without the added hassle of paranoia.))
The Dude waded a little bit into the water, still wearing his flip flops and his left hand in the pocket of his swimming trunks.
"I'm the Dude, here. Who might you be?"

Pyroth nodded to the man and gave his own name. "The name's Pyroth, nice to meet you." He offered a hand for a friendly handshake. The man surely couldn't be called dude, could he? Pyroth didn't really want to pry though, was just glad that there was yet another person to keep him company on this stranded island.
He had noted that the Dude seemed headed elsewhere, mostly ascertaining that from the diving gear he had with him and asked "Heading off somewhere?"

"Nice to meet ya, Pyroth!" - the Dude shook the stretched out hand. "Oh, and I am heading to dive around for a bit in the lagoon. Nice day today, water must be calm and clear."

Pyroth nodded, it was a nice day, nice enough for even him to want to head down for a swim. "The lagoon? You're a braver man than me, I'm not the most powerful swimmer out there, I can keep myself afloat and really not much more than that."
He nodded "Nice to see a new face around here, I've only met about three of the residents so far, I'm not really a social butterfly." he took the proferred hand, shook it and gave a wry smile.
It was so tempting to ask /So, what are you here for?/ but courtesy at the moment dictated otherwise. Still, the sun was getting more intense as the day turned to afternoon and Pyroth, even with his dark skin, couldn't afford to tempt sunburn due to his conservative use of sun tan lotion. As such, he would probably have to head to shade in the near future.

The Dude shrugged to what Pyroth had to say and waved:
"Well, I be going now. See ya around, Pyroth!"
And witht hat he walked on, along the sandy road, towards the beach
((And this is how he ran into Lauren/Thorn ^_^ This RP is done. Thansk for the intro, bane XD))

NEW ROLEPLAY
Emerwyn sighed as she let her bare feet dance in the cool water. She leaned back on her arms. It's all in my head... "No it's not." Emerwyn knew she was sick. How the doctor could even think she wasn't was absurd... Why did she even go to him? No matter what he said she wouldn't have believed him... She'd only gone because Emelyn and Ian had wanted her to... Ian had wanted her to. She looked at her hand, and imagined Ian's still holding it. She clenched her fist. What the hell am I thinking? ...Nothing. Nothing at all. She shook her head, and even laughed aloud at herself. This whole place was messing her up even worse than she'd been before she arrived. She started coughing again, but drew a bottle from her bag and sipped from it. It was the cough serum Moreau had prescribed her. It tasted awful, but it did surpress the cough. But maybe I shouldn't take it so often... She shook that trouble away as well, and layed back. Here she was alone; that's what she wanted right now. She needed to be alone. She looked positively awful. Her face was thin and drawn in, and extremely pale. There were dark circles around her eyes. Her changing eating habits were doing nothing to help this, either. It made her look even more ghastly. Not that she was self-concious, she just didn't want anyone to get too worked up over her.
Emerwyn started humming idly, the song that she and Timothy had written. It was going to be a nice, lonely afternoon.

Amaya wandered along the rivers edge, something she hadn't explored yet. Green gaze was completely turned to the water as she watched the fish swim about just underneath the surface. It was nice to see such clear water void of any trash or waste created by people. Most of the people here she had met so far liked the outdoors enough to keep it clean which was nice. This island would become a living hell if the jungle was cleared for something industrial.
A sigh escaped her lips and she looked down at her feet as she walked. Earlier she had tried to walk on her whole foot and ended up stubbing her long, freakish toes on the ground unless she curled them up... she had always been one to drag her feet a little bit. The young girl had also practiced her fencing in her room earlier, which was nice... but one can only stay inside for so long, so here she was.
The pumpkin shaped bookbag on her back shifted slightly as she walked, a cord trailing from it's contents and up to a large pair of headphones over her ears.

Hargun had gotten up for another typical day of eating at the cafeteria, then going back home to her duplex to sit sleep or watch TV. Do something to keep her entertained, then go to sleep half the day and through the night until really dark and early morning. However, after walking out for a bit, she noticed Amaya off heading somewhere unfamiliar to bat-girl. She threw on her sunglasses and stalked after her good scaley friend.
((Short post; cant do much right this sec, but I thought thatd make a good intro xD))

Awen noticed Hargun sneaking off after Amaya. She tilted her head a little bit wondering what was up. People in this place sure acted pretty strangely sometimes. But maybe something was going on in the jungle. A meeting or gathering or something? Awen really wouldn't be surprised... This is perfect! Just the way to meet new peopel and get to know the others better. She smiled happily and went after Hargun and Amaya. For awhile she stayed back behind Hargun.... but soon started to hear running water. Upon seeing the river side and squeaked and rushed forward. She meant just to catch up to Hargun to stay close..... but she ended up tripping over a vine. She really has to stop doing that... She managed not to fall, barely, but she kept stumbling forward with her momentum "Woah woah GYAH! Look out!" She shouted her voice ringing through the air. But it was too late... She ended up just running into Hargun from behind. Now finally falling, forward god knows how, she rolled and landed just behind Amaya's heels.
"oww....."
Awen cursed herself for being such a clutz.

Emerwyn jumped up, startled by the noise.
So much for my alone time... Was there anywhere to get peace and quiet in this place? She sat up and curled her wet feet under her legs. The voices were pretty close, so Emerwyn decided she'd wait for them to come; If I'm not going to be able to be alone anywhere, I may just as well deal with it. Emerwyn leaned forward and splashed her face with water. She may as well try and look a little more presentable, and a little less... dead. She caught her reflection in the water. She did look dead - like a zombie, even.

The raven-haired girl hadn't even noticed Hargun, the music in her ears blasting out any sounds or distractions that might've told her she was being followed. She did have that creepy 'being followed' feeling though, but she just shrugged it off as a feeling. After all, she was somewhat into the jungle... things were always watching her.
Her eyes squinted, noticing someone up ahead. Before she could make out who it was and wave the ground behind her shook slightly along with a thud.
She DEFINATLY heard that. Amaya turned around with a brow raised to find Awen just behind her sprawled on the ground along with Hargun. "Uh... You guys okay?" She offered a clawed hand out to the two, looking kinda creeped out as she used her free hand to push her headphones around her neck and click them off.
