Another day, another boring walk around with your son.
Not that Makani disliked the boy, though he was, admittedly, very silly now. Raising the kid to be as good as he was would be hard, though he was definitely not doing -too- bad, and seeing as he was pretty young, tit was perhaps good he wasn't there just yet. It'd be wfar worse if he was, imagine a cub... yeah, no thankyou.
But the boy was still a wimp, which he could, or should, get over at any time. Makani preferred that it'd be soon, because really, who wanted his son to be a wimp? "Okay, now, you go over to that bird, and scare it. " He said, crouching next to the red cheetah boy, who recoiled.
"Y-you mean that one? " The cub asked, smiling slightly and pointing to a small bird, rather than the larger one his father had indicated. "Thats easy! "
"No, Loki. That one. " The cheetah snorted, indicating the other bird once again.
"Oh.. " The cub frowned, and with a small sigh, sucked in as much breath as he could, and trotted bravely towards the bird. Now, birds knew that usually cubs weren't something to worry about, and the bird had a small meal with it-- which was why the avian turned and squawked at his, feathers fluffing up. Looking back to his father with unease, Loki bit his lips, then stared at the bird again. How the heck was he supposed to scare the bird off?! It didn't help that this bird had bested him before.
"Listen up! " He said, with the most threatening voice he could muster, ears flat. "You were -really- mean the other day! So.. uh. Now its payback time! " He said, letting his fur prickle, though he still wasn't all that threatening a guy. "So if you want me to spare you--! Go away now and take your little.. dead.. mouse with you. " Okay, the bird had killed a mouse. A small mouse, but still. It had killed something-- wow. ".. Got it?! " He tried to recover. The bird stared at him for a moment, then fluffed up. "Make me, punk! "
Loki hesitated, looking back at his father, who quirked a brow. Then he had an idea. "Okay, pal, look. See that guy over there? Yeah, he's my dad. If you touch a single fur on my skin, he's gonna come over here and eat you, he said so. So I suggest you leave when I'm telling to, or I'm gonna call him, and you won't have the time to get away. So go, now. " He said this with his brows lifted and eyes half closed, looking extremely cocky, but the bird seemed to have gotten struck by that. "Cheetah.. they jump high, right? " The bird asked slightly. If the male cheetah did- run at him, he'd have time to take off, but he wouldn't get high quite.. fast enough, would he? "Yep. " He nodded boredly, and the bird looked back. "Alright, I -dare- you. " It hissed, giving the cub the nastiest look possible. "Alright. " He said, and took a huge breath, opening his mouth to call his dad. "DA- " The bird had had enough. "Shut up, boy! I'm leaving I'm leaving! " And with that, it was off into a clumsy flight, carrying the mouse and zooming off.
Makani was surprised. So Loki had made up a plan-- in a way a cowardly plan, cause he himself had been used as the boy's shield, but still a plan. "Oh, don't you look so proud of yourself! " Makani smiled, getting up and trotting over to the cub, sitting down next to him and patting his head. "Very good! Now, what do we do with the rest of the day?

Okay, it hadn't been intentional-- really. She hadn't meant to spy on father and son! But cubs were just so cute... and it was kinda hard not to watch things anyway, its not like she was going anywhere. See, Avani was suck in a tree. Sad, pathetic? Yes, yes it was. Very. But really-- what was she to do? Wait for the tree to break, or help.
Hey, maybe she could yell at the duo. "He-- HEEEEEEY. CAN YOU HEAR ME? " She shouted at the top of her lungs, scaring off a couple of birds that'd landed on the tree's branches. "Sorry, " she muttered, folding her ears back. Why was she so clumsy?! all she'd wanted was a place to rest! But noo, she had to doubt the whole 'lions aren't good climbers!' thing.

An ear flicked to the side as the cheetah contemplated what he was hearing. Like a semi-distant 'heeeeey!' and then something else, but he hadn't made that out as well, maybhe it was 'can you eat me?' no, no. 'hear' me, probably. Can you eat me is stupid and-- oh, yes. That could work too, if prey was suicidal, or the.. naughty way. Makani wasn't interested in either, though, and looked idly in the direction, spotting a tree.
"Is the tree yelling at us? " He said, dripping sarcasm.
"I.. I think there's someone there! "
"Wow! Did you figure that out all by yourself? "
"Yeah! " Loki beamed at his dad, then seemed to catch the sarcasm a little to late. "Wait-- "
"You're hopeless. " the cheetah sighed, standing up again and flicking the boy's ears with his tail. "Come on, lets go check it out. " Not that he was terribly interested, was probably just some annoying monkey trying to pester him, that happened... annoyingly often, really.
"Okay! " the cub smiled, dashing ahead of his father, clearly not worried about whatever might be in the tree. If anything happened, dad would rush right over and save him, like he usually did.
It was to no surprise Loki arrived first, dashing ahead of his father who'd moved into a lazy trop. He looked up at the tree, tilting his head when he saw a large.. cat-thing there. "What are you doing? " He has tilting his head and waiting for his father to arrive.

She blinked, hearing the small patter of a tiny set of paws, and a bit behind a larger one-- quite a bit larger. Yes, the duo had come! She blinked down at the red cub when he came into view once more, because on their way over, they'd gotten blocked off by a branch, and now she could see them again.
"I'm stuck! " she groaned, shifting a bit on the branch to look down at the cub, and looking terrified when she heard a crack. Fortunately for her, said crack wasn't her branch-- a larger bird had just landed on the wrong place, and moved to a more secure, thick branch. "Can you help me? "

"Ma'am, " He didn't usually address women as ma'am, but its not like this was a good time to flirt with this lioness. "I think you've got your cats messed up-- we're cheetah. We don't climb. " he said, looking up with a slight frown on his face. Makani was a good guy, and did seem, in fact, like he could want help. But simple fact; he couldn't.
Loki frowned, listening to his father and sighing. The grownup was right, cheetah weren't good climbers, there claws were too dull and the build was all wrong. "Can't we do anything, da? " He frowned, folding his ears back a bit. "Maybe wecould get her someone to help! " The cub smiled, swishing his tail with a spark of hope.
"yea, we could, but where? "

Ooh, riiiight.. Cheetah weren't the climbers, were they? How stupid of her, asking a cheetah to help her with climbing! Cheetah were probably no better at it that lions!
But then she perked her ears, smiling at the cub's idea. And the fact that he was still pretty adorable. "Help? That could work! Do you think maybe you could find a leopards? Or a.. friendly elephant. " The lesser was probably hoping too much, but oh what the hey!

"Yeah! That works! " Loki said, smiling hopefully at his father, then scrambling a whiles away and leaping on a rock, looking around for any sign of a leopard. "How do we find a leopard? "
Makani blinked. That wasn't too bad an idea, but there was a problem.. which his son had just voiced. "They don't hang around savnnah much, do they? " The cheetah sighed, folding his ears back slightly. "Whats your name, by the way? I'm Makani. "
"I'm Loki! " The cub said loudly from his spot, but kept scanning the svannah. "Hey, dad? Whats that thingie? " He said, standing on his hind paws to see what it was. There was a gazelle, he knew that much. But something dark was stalking it..
soon, the dark thing shot off, and missed terribly, though Loki did think it hadn't tried hard. "Is that a leopard? "

"My name? " She blinked, and inwardly laughed a bit. What a time for introductions! A bird flapped just above her head, and she clenched her teeth in frustration, clinging to the tree.
"Its Avani! Nice to meet you, I guess. " she smiled lightly, then blinked, peering at the red cub. Whatever he was seeing, there were branches blocking her view, though Avani was quite anxious to hear the answer of Makani aswell-- a leopard could help her down, and for one to be so nearby would just be great!

Loki was.. quite right. What had just made a lazy, pathetic attempt at hunting was, in fact, a leopard. A bored leopard who hadn't really been trying. He stopped his short run, watching the gazelle flee and smirking. He could've had it, if he really wanted to. He'd got up very close, and it had hesitated. It would have been a fairly easy kill.
But he wasn't interested. Instead, he blinked, something.. funny had caught his eyes, and he stared in its direction untill he could make out what it was. A red cheetah cub. He blinked, sitting down and chosing to do one thing; nothing.

"Yeah, its a leopard. " Makani said, waiting. Why didn't it go for the gazelle? With a small sigh, he took a pace or two forward, looking back. "I'll be right back. " He said, looking at his son with a stare of 'no you're not coming, slowpoke' before he could even ask. He did note the boy's slightly disappointed look, but before anything could be said or done, shot off in that insane speed cheetah were known for.
It was inevitable; he'd reached the leopard fast, and had even managed to not heat up too much, though he was panting. Running was great, and he never complained about it. "Hey! " He said, slowing to a walk towards the leopard. "I need your help, "
Loki frowned, flopping pathetically on the rock and giving his dad's back the meanest face he could muster as the grownup darted off, tail curling at his side and ears back. "Meanie. " He snorted, then looked buck up at the tree, smiling at Avani.
"Dad's gonna get help, and you'll get down from the tree, alright? "

It was a leopard. Wait, it was a leopard!The lioness smiled, giving a little jump and forgetting where she was, then clung to the branch miserably, staring grudgingly at the floor below. Why, why, Avani, did you decide to climb a tree?! And why did you HAVE to go this high?!
"thats great! " She forced a smile at Loki, then rested her nose on the branch, eyes shut. She just.. wouldn't let go, yes.

The male blinked, flicking an ear idly in the direction of the cheetah. Cheetah ran fast, he noted quietly. He'd never seen them run full speed.. but h wasn't too fond of them. Jani had been a cheetah, and he was Sukari's mate.. but he knew not everyone was the same. He was just edgy.
"Yes...? " He said, curling his tail around his paws slightly. Why would a cheetah need his help?

"Well.. You leopards are climbers. And I've got a.. " He paused, looking back at the tree. Damn, this would give a 'fun' story someday. How great. "Well, me and my son were having a normal day. And we find a lioness stuck in a tree. I was wondering if you could help her get down? Bein' a climber 'n all. " He said, sighing slightly.
"And no, it wasn't in my day's plans to find a lioness stuck in a tree.

The leopard quirked a brow at the other feline, then looked at that tree where he'd seen the red cub. It was still there, looking up at something..? Okay, so there was a lion stuck in a tree, and they needed a leopard. He was a leopard. A while ago, he'd feel far from inclined to help this lioness, however, he couldn't help but feel a little bad for her. He had one lion 'friend', Halili, and for some reason, she seemed like she would have been clumsy enough to do the same. And Kiyoshi would be upset with him if he didn't do anything to help. And he really, really cared about Kiyoshi.
"Fine. " He said, getting to his paws and moving, obviously in no rush, towards the tree.

"Great! " Makani panted, though he had been a little worried be the leopards long pause. Flicking his tail, he moved to walk alongside the leopard, relaxing his legs and trying to cool off. He had just ran full speed, and he felt extremely heated up(though, to be fair, he'd expected it).
"Thanks, "
Loki looked ahead, perking his ears when he saw the leopard coming in their direction, and running up to the tree, the red cub put his paws on the trunk. "Leopard's comming! You'l lget down soon! " The red cub smiled.
