 Well, I just read the new issue of Game Informer today, and it was talking about the new figurines coming to the U.S. in January. They had a picture of the three figures: Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris. Cloud and Tifa were placed next to one another, and Aeris was placed off to the side. Next to it it said:
"This series features Tifa, Cloud, and the annoying flower girl Aeris".
Where I was mad that they called Aeris annoying, I was like... "OMG. GI is so Cloti."

And a magazine refered to Aerith as Cloud's love interest in FFVII in an article about CC. : O
It doesnt really mean except that the publisher of the magazine is voicing their own opinions, as stupid and biased as they may be.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I wasn't using the magazine as proof or anything. I was just surprised that they voiced their opinion in that way. xD Usually GI goes into more depth about how they feel, especially for things they dislike, lol.
I was kinda like... *tehgasp* They called Aeris annoying. D:
That's funny, especially since in much earlier issues, they seemed to praise her. xD

Haha they probably got a new editior. xD
I really dont get it though...why do so many people, in the US atleast, hate Aerith? O_O I really dont get! She's happy fun sweet and has so much charm! What's not to love about her? I'm not saying she's perfect but I just love everything about her, good and bad! And the only logical reason to hate her would be if your jealous. Nothing else makes sense. I'm sure plently of people envy someone beautiful inside and outside with radianting confidence, I know I do <3 I really am so used to the usual 'Aerith is ugly/plain/stupid/annoying' its quite amusing actually because most of these people have never played FFVII and really dont have the right to say anything! Who got Cloud to smile/dress like a girl/cry? Aerith of course! Gosh and it amuses to no end when people think Aerith was useless and served no purpose. These people just make my life a bit funnier.

Hm, I've noticed that too. Aeris seems to be disliked or hated a lot in the U.S. Especially now, when this whole "WE NEED MOAR WOMENZ AS HEROEZ" idea is coming about. Like in Aeon Fluex, Ultra-Violet, UnderWorld, Resident Evil--- males like badass females. It seems that they are straying from the damsel types, or the sweet and bubbly. It appears to be that way with more girls nowadays as well. They appreciate being made a mockery of (or at least I say so), having women heroes play a role in movies that aren't even cool. The women characters in these movies suck a**. >_> Like they're trying to hard to fit the role of a male hero. Now, I sure as hell am no feminist or sexist(Against myself? LULZ), but the female heros in most thriller movies are really annoying, and try way too hard.
And, that's why I think people in the U.S. like Tifa. She can fight for herself, she's independent, but still a romantic at heart.
Aeris is the type that needs to be saved more often, and is open/bubbly/flirty. Most have the ideal that Aeris "does nothing" or "is too annoying and dumb". A type of girl you would normally see in a chick flick, I guess.
-shrugs- Who knows! (I love chick flicks. XD)
It seems the media is more into violence, blood, gore, saddness, mized emotions, pain, and distress rather than sweet innoncence. You know? They prefer the serious types, and not the bubbly humorous types.
Perhaps.
Just an idea. xD

But yeah, I'd think they might try to find a more subtle way of voicing their opinion, just so that they don't get rabit Aeris fans rallying up. XD

And is Aerith not serious as well? And Aerith is just as badass! She has spunk and a fresh personality.
She's not just a bubble of joy and happiness you know, her character does have depth. And she is hardly the stereotyoe giggly annoying preppy girl people think she is, and that also seems like the case when you describe her and that's not ok because that's not like her.
I think it's odd that you say Tifa is independent while Aerith is dependent because that is hardly the case. Aerith does not depend on Cloud or anyone else for that matter because she has been alone most of her life and has adapted to an independent lifestyle. Tifa on the other hand was nurtured and had that all taken away and as a result she depends greatly upon Cloud and her friends.
And what is this damsel stuff? If I remember correctly Tifa was the one wanting her knight in shining armor to come and save her.

More creepy than actually scary, I suppose, and it's more toward the beginning of the game.
But anyway, it's how she doesn't let Cloud leave her house. I mean, I'd be kinda creeped out if I was trying to go outside and every time I went too fast or the floor squeeked, she came and yelled at me. X_x
And then, you finally get out of the house, and make a break for it, and she teleports in front of you. I was playing with Lunar not too long ago, it was my first time playing, and we both jumped and were like "WHAT THE HELL?!" XD
Okay, it's kinda dumb reasons, but they're my reasons.
The main reason I don't like her is because she's kinda mean to Tifa, and stuff...

I'm saying that's what other people tend to believe, not what I myself believe. I think Tifa is by far, much more of a serious person, but Aeris has a nice balance between seriousness and humor. Tifa is the type of person who is a wistful dreamer, and very very contemplative.
Trust me, I know Aeris has depth. I defend that fact a lot. Look at her past, it's just as sad as anyone elses. Aeris breaks down too, she's not always happy. She's just more comfortable with her emotions, and knows how to handle them a lot better than Tifa does, who, can help others, cannot help herself.
It's true--- Aeris did evade ShinRa for a long time. But in the beginning of the game, players immediately see that Aeris relies on Cloud right away. They see Aeris asking him to make decisions for her, and they see Aeris struggle to climb over the rubble (Which I think she pretended to do. xD). Players also see that ShinRa captures Aeris, and then the party has to go and save her.
Later on, we see Aeris leave on her own, and in a sense we have to go out and "save" her again.
True--- Tifa was taught martial arts, and had many friends as a child, but she wasnt taken care of and nutured her whole life. She lost her mother at a young age, and then her father at only the age of fifteen. Tifa also took the stand by herself, to learn martial arts to protect her hometown from monsters. Just because she made a promise that Cloud would save her whenever she was "in a bind", doesn't make her a damsel. It makes her a dreamer, and quite simply it makes her: in love. We can obviously see that Tifa can fight for herself, but she like others needs the help of others when the time is right. She keeps her feelings to herself, and tries to do what she feels is best according to her own heart. And, I think that's what makes her so independant. The name "lockheart" proves just that.
Tifa does what ever she can to help Cloud, and her friends. On her own. She doesn't depend on others in order to help others. She depends on others sometimes, but not always.
And, did I ever say Aeris was dependant? I think she is to some extent, she was very dare I say *clingy* to Cloud, and she seemed to need him more than anything. We see her stand of independance the most I think, when she goes off to the Forgotten City by herself.
Without Clouds help.
If anyone is dependant, I think that would be Cloud. He needed Tifa, Aeris, and all of his other friends support to get him through everything. Sadly, everyone depended on the least independant person, lol.

Tifa followed Cloud because he was going to do something stupid if she didn't, and she was worried as all hell. Besides, they needed eachother to balance eachother out, in my opinion. Cloud is all Tifa has, so why wouldn't you want to hold onto that?
Aeris wasn't the same. She didn't know Cloud very well at all, and wouldn't let him leave. Aeris also had a mom, even if it wasn't her real mom. She had a home and everything, but she still followed Cloud like that.
And how she was mean, I could go through a few things, but I'll just put the biggest one, to me anyway.
Now, I know that you can go through the game and not make this happen, but the fact that you can have it happen is what gets me.
Through the game, you can make it very clear that Cloud is going for Tifa. And even if you don't, it's obvious that Tifa loves Cloud. Well, when Cait Sith is going to go 'die,' Aeris asks him so excitedly to read a love fortune for Cloud and her. This clearly upsets Tifa, especially when Cait Sith gives the answer, but Aeris doesn't seem to care.
That just struck me as cruel. Maybe you don't think so, or maybe Aeris didn't realize it or something, but I thought it was cruel. -shrug-

I'd have to agree that the part with the fortune telling was very cruel to Tifa. Aeris knew that Tifa liked him. Actually, the whole PARTY knew that Tifa liked Cloud. (except Cloud of course...he's too dense.) And please don't try defending her, I'm not going to buy it. I respect Aeris, don't get me wrong, but there are some things that aren't very pleasant about her.
Anyways, I'm shocked that Game Informer would say something like that. eek I mean....I could understand if they add in some satire or some critical review, but to call Aeris annoying? That's shocking. eek I would think those sort of magazines wouldn't be biased. *Shrugs* Oh well, haha, GI is Cloti. xd (In a negative way anyway.)

LoL domokun Yea its kinda creepy that she does stalks him....................... when hes obviously Looking for Aerith domokun xp stare scream stressed @Crisis Core Cloud ANd Cloud was never gone do anything stupid,Tifa just wanted to Boss him around..................... @Twindream Aerith did that because she just found out that she was going to die...She wanted to know how Cloud felt about her,you would wanna know that too if you were gonna die ok. THe last thing on aeriths mind was Tifa ok. And Aerith is Probably the sweetest Character in gaming history But tifa still KIcks MAJOR A$$ believe it!!!! Chaaaaaaaaa!
