Lame song quote aside, I thought it's about time we get some info down about this.

Last week on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Catherine Tate stated that series 4 "May be his [David Tennant's] last series", but recently, David said at the Voyage of the Damned screening last night, that he wants to keep people guessing as long as possible. He hasn't been asked about series 5, and hasn't made a decision whether he will stay or go. I don't think the 2009 Specials have even been written yet, so he has until the last one is written before having to decide!

I heard he was taking a brake to play Hamlet with Patrick Stewart and the RSC.

Doctor Who is going on a break in 2009 with only 3 (or was it 4?) specials being made for the whole year. In 2008, there will be a full series (Already mostly finished) but there will be little filming that year, as Tennant will be in a production of Hamlet in Stratford Upon Avon, and possibly then moving it to London. After the specials, there is nothing confirmed for series 5.

I think it's three specials, but my memory isn't always that good.

I dunno. All I really have to say on the subject is if he did leave, I don't think it would be so bad as the David Tennant fans are making out. It would be nice to have a change. I guess I would be a bit sad as well, but that's true for any main character.

Quote:
Today's edition of The Sun says David Tennant is being offered one and a half million pounds to stay on as the Doctor for Series Five.

In what it claims to be an exclusive, it quotes a source as saying: "He's interested. Everyone thought he was going, but it's not as open and shut as that."

Click here for the full report - but beware, as at the end it names a character it says is returning in one of the specials.
