Aren't they in a different key? O_o
But, it's like that for all instruments.
If you're thinking of the concert pitch.

If you don't mean concert pitch, then no, the trumpet would sound different than the same notes (by name) on the piano. So would horn, alto sax, and clarinet (and is it bari or tenor sax? or neither? meh, I should look that up, huh?).

No, they're not.
The piano is in concert pitch while the trumpets (mainly trumpets in Bb are used in school bands) are transposing. So if a you play a C on the piano and want to match it on the trumpet, you'll need to play a Bb. It's lower by a whole step. Though there are trumpets in the key of C, these are mainly used for orchestral playing.

And, did you know, bass clef instruments do not transpose at all. Not really. What you see is what you play, regardless of the key of the instrument. :]

Actually If you Play a C on the Piano, you need to play a D on the Trumpet, You raise it a whole tone for transposition. This is why the Trumpet plays a C for concert Bb.

The one exception to the rule is the Double Bass. Hence the name, anything the string bass plays sounds an octave lower than written.

Tubas have transposing instruments, but all the tubists I know say they don't transpose when switching instruments, they just change their fingering. *shrug*
