Okay, I'm going to move up into this century for the next "The Year Is" post, but just barely. Let's go with the Year 2000.

This is another pick that is pretty easy for me.
My favorite movie for the year 2000, is "Chocolat". I love this film!!
There are others from this year that I like a lot, but "Chocolat" is just one step above all the others, for me.
I really enjoyed "Erin Brockovich", "Gladiator", "High Fidelity", "X-Men", and others, including "The Grinch". I'm really surprised by how many of these films I have seen. I must have no life at all!!

I'd have to say "Chocolat" as well. I just love Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, and Judi Dench in this film. "Chicken Run", "The Emperor's New Groove", "Meet the Parents", and "Unbreakable" are all excellent. I think "Unbreakable" is highly underrated as a film, and is quite possibly M. Night Shyamalan's best film, beating even the enormously popular "The Sixth Sense".
I really want to see "Traffic" and "Amores Perros", but haven't gotten around to it. XD

I've only seen about a third of these films.
I have to say my fave is Chicken Run. hahahah I love that film.
But Chocolat is really wonderful. I probably should have it first.
I enjoyed Erin Brockovich, The Legend of Bagger Vance and Miss Congeniality. O Brother, Where Art Thou was a special film and I'd have to have it on my list.

My favorite is definitely Coyote Ugly. My uncle had it on bootleg like a week before it hit theatres and I watched it constantly. He also had Scary Movie. I loved that (and still do) because I never saw anything like that before, having been eight at the time and just that fact that it is hilarious.

ninja For the benefit of Mr. Kite... Ugh. I don't think that this was a good year for movies, personally. Sure, there were the great popcorn flicks (X-Men, Final Destination, The Emperor's New Groove...), but the deep "Oscar" movies weren't that good. Crouching Tiger? Yuck. Cast Away? No, thanks. U-571? Nope. And it was an especially bad year for remakes. American Psycho or Grinch? Originals, plz. talk2hand
Also, I may be the only person to think this... But I hated Gladiator. The slow-down-speed-up motions of the camera made me sick.
...there will be a show tonight. domokun
