  NEVAR!
  I'm not sure.
  Just the dark spots.
Yeah, maybe a shade or two.
  Possibly several shades, or more...
  As much as possible.

Lol...I would like to start out by saying that as there is more than enough hype for having the 'perfect tan,' (maybe not here, but with the fashion world in general) I felt the need to start a thread for those who appreciate the fair side of skin...and also for those who wouldn't mind 'lightening up' a few shades. YUK YUK YUK I AM FUNNY. ...okay moving on...

As for me, I am already quite pale, due mostly to my nearly indecent lack of exposure to the sun. But...*looks around warily* It's not enough! GAH! Anyone else out there ever had that, where you KNOW you're pale, and when you look down at arms arms or hands or even the part of your legs that almost NEVER see the light of day, and you seem to look tannish? Yeah...I have that right now.

I've always LOVED the idea of really pale skin; that's what I'll give to most of my characters, and even my skin recolors for the Sims2 are pale. It's just so much prettier to me than the fake-bake tans and orange spray-ons you see walking around every corner in the middle of winter (I'm from Minnesota). So I wonder, how can I get my skin paler without hiding out in a basement for a year straight? To find out, I did the first and most utterly logical thing I could think of: I Googled it.

And so, I've found an assortment of things to do to either lighten dark and medium skintones, reduce dark spots, or make light and pale skin even lighter and paler. Turns out, there are all kinds of products available, everything from manufactured creams and lotions in bottles that you can either store-buy or get online, to home-made lotion recipes.

Here I insert another fun fact about me: I'm ridiculously cheap when it comes to buying just about anything. I'm a bargain hunter to the extreme and I'm also very good at finding things that I can make last a long time, like hair dye and clothes and stuff. And I'm perfectly content to bike or walk to get to those places, if they're close enough. So, I'm not about to waste an EXTRA five dollars in shipping and handling to get some tiny, pricey jar of skin-lightening stuff that I'll have to reorder time and time again to maintain the look. After all, that's five dollars that could have gone to my 'Wacom Tablet' fund jar. So I for one won't be bothering with anything ordered offline; I'll be keeping an eye out for lotion recipes or stuff I can find at stores for a decent price.

And, while I've found a few recipes and such online, I'd really like for us to share what we know on the subject of skin lightening. I'll be posting my finds in a bit, after I post this and do some other stuff. But yeah. Post pictures, post what you know, like the pros and cons, and some of your own tricks.

The only thing I knew of was this lazer treatment which meant you could never go in the sun again!
I feel the same, I am very pale, but not pale enough.
What are these products you speak of that can make you paler?!

I love how pale Marylin Mansons (I think) ex-wife's skin is.

Now I will destroy him.

Lol sorry for the wait xD

Well, I've read that mixing lemon juice with honey and/or milk and putting that on your skin will apparently help, as will eating/drinking a lot of foods with vitamin C. Or so I read. Lemons are supposedly a good bleaching agent. Naturally, anything you do at home will require consistancy...since a layer of skin takes 28 or so days to shed, that's about how long it would take (I think) for the change to be most noticeable. Wearing a high SPF sunscreen is a no-brainer to maintain the look. biggrin I also read that mixing whole milk with bleached flour and applying it to your skin will help whiten as well.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding before/after pictures, so I plan on doing one or more of the above treatments for myself, and taking a picture once a week to see if anything changes.

I haven't brushed up on my knowledge of storebought creams so I'll have to look around for those.

I have always had pale skin and thought that I wouldn't fit in just because I don't look like a perfectly tanned barbie doll. I never knew that people actualy wanted pale skin.

Ahhh pale skin.

I was born with it, and also redheadness. I hated it quite a bit for a very long time, but now I embrace it! I only tan (spray, to keep the skin healthy) for extremely rare occasions that just require it. (I might be going on a cruise the carribean this summer. I'm def. tanning then). I think that in the long run, paler skin looks healthier with age, especially compared to people who exposed themselves to the sun too much. Not very many people like pale skin, but all the boys I've been with have loved it. If you know how to rock it, in the end it looks much prettier than tan skin, which is ussually percieved as hot. Theres a difference between those words, I think. I also think there some negative words that can be assiciated with girls who are hot whether it's true or not. I chose to go the pretty route. I think it's more striking, anyways.

And that's beautiful too ^^ I'm glad for people who love their pale skin, And I'm glad for those who love their darker skin as well. That's the most important thing really, self-love :3
