Okay, I have a few suggestions, but please forgive me if some of them are a bit harsh; I'm just being blunt about my opinions
First, there's the issue of spelling.
I know many, many people who refuse to join a guild if the mods cannot spell words out. Chat speak like "r" and "evry1" and "l8r" is often quite a turn off. It makes the guild seem very noobish to many of the more advanced RPers. Also homophones and contractions getting confused, its and it's, and such things like that, can make a large difference to some people. It is also a great way to PREVENT the idiot nooblets FROM joining, in that they don't like professional-looking guilds.
Second, is the issue of thread formatting. If it's an official announcement, keep it at least SOMEWHAT business-like. This gives for a cleaner, more professional style that can draw many people in. it also makes for more too the point announcements that everyone understands, and more people actually READING said announcements, because they are probably important to THEM. Things like "soo...ummm...yea post your ideas!" can have very bad tones.
Third, it is always nice to keep a list of members in the main forum. Add new comers as they come, have a list of Mods and their positions, and a list of those banned, how long they're banned for, and why
This should also be kept very matter of fact, but it is a great reference for other members. It makes newcomers feel more welcome, and the banned list negates question of "what the hell did you ban so-and-so for?"
Instead it's more like
"Oh, they were banned for repeatedly harassing other members." or what ever the scenario.
Fourth, there is little rhyme or reason to the way the forums are laid out currently. I would sticky the threads you want to stay around for a long time, and there are several doubles of threads.
In the role play forum, maybe an introduction and some basic rules for role play threads, then letting other members post their own threads? This saves the mods a lot of trouble of coming up with new RP ideas all the time.
Fifth, for the demon school specifically
It’s a great idea! I really love it! But maybe you could make it into a casual role-play type environment. The best way to learn about things is by doing it. Also, better examples. You could do a LOT with this idea, even make it a place where people can learn how to RP better.
Sixth, maybe a subforum for tutorials
How to do forum coding, how to RP at a higher level, how to draw demons, anything like that. You could let members post their own tutorials, and give feedback on each other's, etc.
these are always useful, because then you have references in case you forget something, or simply want suggestions on how to do things better or add quality
And that's it for now, just my few suggestions
Edit: It might just be the Advanced Role Player left in my veins that's talking in this post
