Weyr Bowl

It is here you'll find the herdbeasts that serve occasional meals to the impressive dragons. Runnerbeasts are kept at the opposite end so that the hungry dragons don't mistake them for a meal.

The far side of the bowl holds a deep pond. It's here that dragons can be found bathing, as well as their riders. This also serves as a source of fresh water for the weyrs' inhabitants.

This is also where much of the weyrling training is held, especially when the upper cliffs are full with those who haven't learned to fly.

Near a corridor leading towards the kitchens a small garden can be found, growing a variety of vegetables, tubers, and herbs that are added to the weyrs' food. A few fruits are found here as well, but most of the weyrs' fruit trees are outside the stone walls in the surrounding forest.

As the rain continued to fall upon the Weyr in quiet silence, the green known as Moth began to shift in her post-slumber. She could see, from the depths of the multi-faceted eyes thousands of tiny rain drops falling upon the narrow ledge connecting the weyr to the expanse outside. Like a curtain of water, it splashed down, riveting across the small nooks and cracks of the rock ledge, and dribbling down to other weyrs below.

The green snorted lightly, and sat her head down upon a clawed arm. It was peculiar how it rained so…Yet, sometimes she had a hard time remembering why it was so peculiar. But she only then had to gently reach to her rider’s mind to remember why there was a silence about.

There were a few confliction notions in the dragons mind at that particular point. Idly, she switched vision from the endless curtain of rain to the eyes of her rider, who was speaking to someone she could just barely grasp a memory of. She would need to gently ask Farin to explain who she was to her; and why perhaps they were talking. It seemed to her that her Love was simply making idle chat- and although that was not bad, it also ment Farin was troubled. And this, troubled the green.

Moth rose, her back muscles stretching as she carefully reared back, her smaller arms pressing against the great girth of her chest. Still the rain fell, but it was beginning to get rather muggy inside of the weyr, and the prospect of some fresh (although wet) air was slowly gaining root within the gentle creature’s mind.

Love, I believe I shall sit outside for a bit. The dragon relayed, her eyes shifting from green to blue in a gentle spiral.

‘Outside? It’s still raining, isn’t it?’ Came the concerned voice of the rider, echoing in on the green’s large head. She rumbled contentedly, just the sound of Farin’s voice causing her to forget what she had been thinking about previously.

It is hot, and it seems cooler outside. The green said earnestly, her wings gently spreading to work out a careful amount of pins and needles.

‘Don’t be out there too long.’ Farin remarked, her voice still tinted with concern.

I won’t, Love. Don’t you put that shirt on. The green commented back, her eyes sight switching to her rider’s, where she was going through her dirty clothes in the washroom.

‘Oh, hush silly dragon.’ Farin’s voice echoed.

The green’s eyes carefully formed a lovely shade of sky blue, and she fell back a tad clumsily upon her arms. The large creature strolled carefully forward, passing a small burnt orange couch which Farin usually took her naps on. The dragon stopped for a moment, and nosed it a bit. She could not smell Farin upon it, mostly because dragons did not have such accurate smell as other creatures. But the fact that it was something she remembered comforted her.

The green paused at the edge of the weyr, and snorted carefully, the ribbons of water beginning to land upon her snout in misty rivets. For a moment, she switched back to her rider’s mind, Farin was tugging at a pebble like belt she wore occasionally, and with that thought the green pushed off of the ledge.

The rain outside quickly covered the dragon’s smooth skin, making her appear a darker shade of green then she really was. Her wings flapped and gained a little altitude, before circling gently down onto the Weyr bowl.

The green spread her wings carefully as she landed, her large chest sticking forward like a dragonet as she regained balance. The grass was wet, and it seemed to be tinted the same color of her hide in the small fractured sunlight.

She snuffed, a small mist of water excreting from her nose. Her eyes carefully wheeled in thought, and she slowly moved across the grasses, to sit lazily on top of the more prevalent rocks in the bowl. Beaten down by the now thinning rain, small blades of blue graduated weeds poked from the crust of the rocks. Moth lowered her head, watching them with an almost thoughtful expression before shutting her eyes and returning back to focusing on what her Love was currently doing. She seemed to be talking, so she with careful respect she did not intrude, but listened thoughtfully in on the conversation.

Letting the rain cool her body off, the green carefully stretched out a leg, situating herself in a reclining position. And with one wing stretched to full accord, she settled back into a slowed state.

It had been a few weeks since the Weyrwoman had died. Lotte sighed, looking out over the Bowl. She had been avoiding everyone lately, barely remembering to eat or bathe. Usually a clean-freak by nature, she just couldn't bring herself out of mourning enough to take care of herself. It might have been better if she had someone to talk to, but she was never the overly social sort. And with thread coming closer each day, people were too busy to notice much other than their chores, so Lotte was left to brood on her own. Jealously, she watched as people passed, each more often than not with a flit on their shoulder or flying above them. Wistfully, she remembered the runner she had kept as her own during the time she lived with her relatives... but now was the present, and she didn't have the Marks or materials to trade in order to obtain one of her own. Shrugging deeper into her jacket, she leaned back against the rock wall, wondering what the kitchen would be serving that nite.

Fortunately as it happened, or unfortunately perhaps, a restless soul was about the Weyr. The weather seemed to have greatly improved over the long mourning the Weyr had held for it’s beloved Weyrwoman. Now, the skies were a brilliant blueish green, and the cool smell of foliage was within the air from the surrounding forests. It was a perfect time for flying, and simply being alive. And as the patron of it all, a small bronze firelizard was resigning himself to just that.
He wheeled, quite a few dragon lengths above the weyr, his dazzling rainbow of eye colors fluttering about in various movements. The ribbon of blue identification still hung around his neck, and he fancied it as another portion of his being. Had he been capable of more intellectual thoughts, he might even have considered it his flaming charge.
The little bronze dipped, spiraling down in the air. There were too few flitts in the Weyr to catch the attention of any of them at that moment, and this was simply unagreeable with him. The whole Weyr should have been fancying him and his romantic display of strength. But alas, it fell on deaf ears.
Even those ears of his keeper. She’d shooed him off while she was trying to give Moth an oil bath. He was not sure, as he could not be being of limited intelligence, what this dragon was and how it had gotten to be so big- but it could certainly not be as magnificent as he was! How despicable of his keeper to ignore him! And when he was looking so attractive this morning, at that.
The little bronze gave another spiral, looking now for trouble to cause. He knew that his keeper’s face got angry and red tinted when he caused problems. He did like to behave (because that brought yummy treats) but when she was too busy with her other beast, then there would simply be none of this ‘good behavior’.
Fleckin vanished, sliding into between, and popping back again just a dragon length above the Weyr bowl. The little bronze flapped his wings, and landed upon a rock outcropping. He swiveled his snaky little head, flicking his tongue to taste the air and ponder his predicament in a way only a lizard could. A fluttering went through his mind, as firelizards were very susceptible to similar feelings that dragons were, and he turned his head to look at a small girl pressed against the wall. She was looking spiteful, and rather condescending. That was a look, Fleckin particular found himself bemused with. He could easily make the silly human creatures flail their arms and wave and spit when they were like that. Then he’d make sure to remember his face, and flutter up to his keeper’s blonde haired shoulder. And when she was trying to have a nice conversation, he’d flash her a picture of an angry faced man, just to give her a jump. He did it to the big green as well, although she could make him have horrible headaches if he dared too often.
Fleckin fluttered over to the scowling girl, making little preening noises, testing what her mood was. Had he been able to keep memory, or had he known her before or had some connection to his keeper, he'd of known her name was Lotte, a candidate at the Weyr. But because he knew nothing of such foolish human things, he resigned himself to grouping her as he grouped all people- prey. He was amused, but he’d be sure not to put himself in harms way. Perhaps she’d admire him, he was feeling sourly unappreciated. With a flap of his little bronze wings, he swung himself and sat on top of her head, his tail quickly wrapping around her neck, and he lowered his face to look at her, his eyes rainbowing green, blue, and yellow.

As Lotte pondered over the going ons of the kitchen, out of no where, a rather big something hit her head and stayed there. Jumping, she craned her head back, annoyed that someone was trying to mess with her while she was so obviously trying to be alone; a small head and set of ranibow eyes met hers, and she jumped again. A flit had landed on her head! Keeping an eye on the flit, she cautiously looked around for whomever might have sent her the little reptile; surely the little creature couldn't have approached her on it's own. The little flits tended to find her boring--especially since all she did as of late was mope and mourn, and frankly, nothing was interested in watching that. Yet as avidly as she searched the few wanderers, no one was stopping to gather ther flit, or even so much as glance in her direction.
Focusing her attention back onto the lizard on her head, she wondered as to what she was supposed to do. She doubted that anyone was searching for the thing--people tended to leave flits be to do as they wanted, casting them off when annoyed or distracted. Besides, Lotte didn't really mind having her thoughts intruded on by this friendly flit. Looking into those green-blue-yellow whirling eyes, she noticed a hint of mischief behind them. Cautiously, she reached up and stroked the leathery skin covering the flit's eye ridge and around the area, hoping that she had found the place that they were fond of being scratched in. For the first time in over a week, Lotte truly smiled, distracted from her depression and content with her surroundings.

The small little bronze creature squabbled for a moment, and then folded his wings from the erratic flapping they were previously doing to stay aloft in the shaking girl’s head. With his prominent eye ridge being meticulously scratched, he stopped most of his writhing, and simply let out a contented little gurgle, the end of his tail twitching. It was good to have some attention finally!
His wings opened, and his adjusted his spot from on top of the girl’s head, and idly snaked his now freed skull about, looking over the Weyr bowl from inverted vision. Fleckin made another creening like noise, and shuffled off the girl’s head, and moved over to the shoulder. Of course, this was a little bit of a challenge, as the ends of his claws became entangled with the girl’s hair. But after a little bit of unpleasant twirling and flapping, he settled himself hair free, and simply started to puff his left wing in small little flaps.
In his mind, as curious as the matter of thought was, he carefully poked about the surrounding wavelengths of thought. They seemed a bit…unfuzzy, which would have been more readily accepted by dragons as “unhappy.” But because he could truly differentiate emotions from what the receptions he picked up from people were explicitly about, he simply did the next best thing, and looked over across the Weyr. There was a blue dragon getting oiled in the distance. Almost instantly, he relayed a fuzzy little picture back to Lotte of a blue dragon, rather pleased with himself. It was absolute nonsense, and he wasn’t particularly trying to get anything except that he knew emotions tended to get much sharper whenever he sent humans funny pictures of dragon tails, and eating utensils. He also forwarded the image over high above the Weyr, where a green dragon sat perched and sunning herself.
Love, Fleckin sends you his love with a blue dragon’s rear end. The green spoke wryly, a tone uncommon of the gentle creature.
Consumed by work, her fingers still sticky from oiling her large creature, she groaned. “Yes, I see. He’s going to get himself a good slap from someone if he doesn’t learn to contain himself.” Farin muttered, too busy with record keeping to find out where the creature was. He came when called, regardless.
Back down the Weyr, the little bronze resolved himself, and went to think about what more interesting things could be about. The scent of hot rolls and meat were fluttering up from the kitchens, and there was warm hay being brought in from the bowl entry. He kept his feet upon the girl’s shoulders, however, deciding not to let go of such accessible attention unless he was called.

It was a sunny day, and Kirana was suppose to have left awhile ago, but the caravan still hadn't arrived. She was currently sitting crosslegged just outside the entrace of the inner areas of the Weyr gazing up at the sky as Azure and Verde swooped and spun.

It had been quite awhile since either of them had been outside, and Kirana thought it was best that they get some air before having to spend the longest time with her in a caravan and then on a ship.

A gold flitt, followed by a blue one, dipped through the air the being playing with Verde and Azure. At least, the blue one did. The gold was closer to observing than playing, remembering that the green disliked her somewhat.

Verde cooed, circling around Zephyr as Azure glitted over to greet Flute was a soft coo. Kirana glanced behind her, looking for T'bell. With the way that Verde and Azure were reacting, those had to be flits that they knew. She didn't see anyone, though.

And that was likely because T'bell was coasting down upon Liliath's back from their weyr above her.

The green backwinged to land in the middle of the bowl and T'bell slipped off. Riding without leathers, or a harness, apparently. The reasoning for this rash behaviour was seen as soon as Liliath took flight again, soaring over the surprised herdbeasts for 'lunch'. Now if only that one she had picked out while Lemurrin was-there it was!

T'bell watched proudly as Liliath swooped down on the plump herdbeast only to carry her prey back up to the rim for her feast. He turned then, eyes searching for a moment before he found Kirana and began to job over, waving his hand in greeting. Flute had found the harper girl at his request, and Liliath was ready for a snack anyway, so a quick flight down to the bowl was nothing.

Kirana grinned, waving back as she should, brushing off her skirt as Verde cooed, curling down and landing on her shoulder, "Long time, no see," She said, grinning as she stroked the green's head.

"Yeah!" T'bell called back, "Been...well...busy." He slowed and grinned when he neared her, tilting his head with obvious experience as Zephyr made a dive for it, the little blue landing on his shoulder. "Oof...too many meatrolls, Zeph." He smiled and stroked the blue's tail as it wraped around his neck. "What are you doing out here? I haven't seen you in days...everything Ok?" He tilted his head with a small frown.

Kirana nodded, "Yeah, everything's fine... My ride just hasn't shown up yet. It's been over a week. I think maybe they forgot about me... Or my parents plotted to leave me out here," Kirana said, grumbling under her breath. "I wouldn't put it past them."

"Well, Imirin said the caravan hading out this way was stopped up at a mining hold about extra carts and supply and a whole bunch of trading terms. He's been in a mood all week...had to watch Tabesk the other night and I think that's the only sleep he's gotten in a while." He waved his hand and gave a shrug. "You know...if they did forget about you...I could fly you back. Or you could stay here. Or you could go to the hall..." He smirked as he listed off the options. "If they've forgotten you can 'forget' about answering their next summons."

Kirana grinned and nodded, "I could just forget," She said, rubbing the back of her neck. "I never fit in there anyway..." She said, sighing.
