Wandering among the lands, a mare with a light tan-colored coat wandered about, in search of. In search of company, or something else? She didn't know herself. She had thought to look for her family.. "But where would I look?" Her eyes downcast, and her gaze emotionless. It wasn't like she had much family anyways. Than again, she felt no sadness. You couldn't miss, what you've never known, after all.
With a glance to the surroundings around her, winter was fast in coming. Chilling breeze blew about making the air cold and icy. This so-called 'snow' had not fallen yet, so he had to hold her opinion on winter for now. It would be the first time seeing snow. She was vaguely interested and anxious for this winter season to come.
With small yet silent steps, she continued forwards unaware of where she was heading. Her surroundings became a little darker, and gloomier if possible. When she finally brought her attention back to reality, "Where am I?" She asked no one in particular with a slightly puzzled expression upon her face. How on earth had she chanced upon such a.. morbid forest? Shifting her hooves to the side in nervousness, She felt as if the shadows seemed to be alive grabbing for her.. or was it just her imagination?

Orange eyes stared coldly out from the dim murk of the deadened forest, all source of sound from wildlife or otherwise had been hushed into absolute silence as the mare seemed to be engulfed by the living blackness. How fortunate was he to stumble upon such a sweet and tender little thing, all alone in his domain. He wasn't hungry - for food, at least - but he had no intention of causing her harm just yet. No, he desired to toy with her for awhile. If he couldn't derive pleasure, then she would share a touch of his suffering.
Cocking a furred head to the side, the demon's lips twitched in anticipation, showing the glint of fangs for only a moment before he spoke. "Far from home and far from family. What devil lays eyes on me?" He did his best to mimic the pure innocence of her tone in her exact pattern of voice, a clever trick he enjoyed using on occasion. A stride or so away from the hapless mare, he layered a grin over his bitter features as his form seemed to materialize from the murky forest.

Swiveling around, "Who is that?" She said sharply, with a suspicious yet alarmed glance in her eyes. The strange voice had intimidated and frightened her.. and yet filled with such malice that it caused her to back up a few steps. Even as she kept backing up, she backed up against a tree. The path she had taken into the forest had disappeared among a blur of trees and darkness. But no matter how far she went, she knew that she could not escape this forest.. or so the forest seemed to be saying. And someone else was here.. Likely a home to another who wasn't very friendly either, she could assume.
Her manner was hesitant, while her crystal gray eyes darted about for wherever the voice has originated from. But she didn't have far to look about. A form stepped out of the shadows, revealing itself to her.. And how strange it was. The darkness seemed to cloak EVERYTHING but the stranger himself. And if it wasn't her imagination herself, he was becoming more visible by the moment.. One would not have ever called him beautiful or the likes of it.
A few minutes later, she caught a glimpse of a gleaming white fang.. "What soquili has that?" Her expression betrayed her widen eyes filled with alarm, as no other soquili could possibly have such.. fangs! "Pray tell, what are you?.. Some monster that has possible come to haunt me now?" She said darkly, her face filled with hysterics and scorn inspired by her disbelief.

"A MONster!" Istaqa beamed, craning his neck into a dramatic arch as he stared down the bewildered mare. He wouldn't take any step further, but he didn't need to. He could see she was quivering in her spot already. His expression was dark but amused, orange eyes trailing through the dark like lanterns in the nighttime gloom. "Do I... appear as the monnnnster to youuu, sweet.... little thing?" His voice drew out the syllables with a chilling sound so that the words lingered in the air like distant thunder. His lip twitched at what he was saying. She may be cute but the devil had no use for tender females... he was not interested in anything but the prospect of pain and suffering.
Skillfully avoiding her question, he managed to flash a grin. "Tellll me.... what brings youuu to the dark path? Are you aware you've stumbllllled on cursed land?" He looked genuinely amused for a moment, wondering in the back of his mind why soquili insisted on keeping their young ones in a state of naivety on such matters as skinwalkers.

Struggling to calm herself down, she spoke with a slight stutter, "A monster is not a monster i-if it claims to be a monster." She struggled to sound brave, but in her honest opinion, glowing orange eyes definitely spelled monster. His appearance, and voice chilled her down to her very bones where it shook from fear. Still backed up against the tree, the tree gave her solid support for her shaky legs until she could manage to support them on her own. She was relieved to see that the stranger did not come any closer, giving her the chance to recover. Slowly, her strength came back to her..
Unlike any other soquili she had seen before, the silhouette.. appeared to be one of a stallion..? "Or is it just my imagination from such a deranged person like myself?" The question was directed particularly at herself, even if she could not answer it. But a giant wolf pelt covered almost the entire upper half of his body, and strange claws extended from his feet, leaving her only to guess at what sort of animal.. or monster he was. "Did he kill a wolf for that?" As she eyed the pelt, she felt a sickening wave of nausea wash over her. The poor animals..
With a few cautious steps forward, "What brings me here? You ask?" She replied in answer to his question, with a look of disdain. "I only happened to wander into here.. I didn't ASK for this, or to encounter.. this forest!" And what this about cursed lands? Magic, curses, and spells. They weren't and would NEVER be real. Was this stallion crazy or something?

"So I am a monster!... But I'm not? How confusing." The stallion beamed, flicking his tail so that the bushy canine extension moved as if it were his own attachment. He loved these mind games. Mental torture was just as good, if not better, than the damage any claw or fang could inflict.
"Ahhh no, no its true..." The skinwalker sneered, nodding admittedly to the weak but apparently couragious young mare. "No one assssks to be placed in the path of harrrm... or do they?" A questioning tilt of his partially-canine maw as he extended his neck forwards, the paws of his pelt flopping against his chest with the movement. In a sneaky way he was getting a better look at her from top to bottom, analyzing the curves of her musculature as if she were plastered on a wall in some macabre museum exhibit. "Perhaaaaps... we ask to be lead towards death...?"
He grinned maliciously.
Seeing as the mare had boldly taken a step towards him, Istaqa felt the need to close the gap between them to gauge her response. With a prance of his lanky legs, the male dashed over until the two were almost touching shoulders while still facing one another. "This forest won't hurt you pretty thing, I promissssse" He hissed the words with glee.

Her fear was still there, but it slowly subsided little by little. This stallion hadn't harmed her.. yet. Maybe he had other plans in mind, But violence wasn't a factor as of yet. Instead, the rat appeared to be amused by her behavior. "No surprise there." She scrunched her face in slight disgust. Such like the monster she was, and she expected none the less of him to sneer and laugh.
Instead of hurting her, like he had probably expected, she was only getting stronger for it. And she would show him.
Because her surroundings was pure darkness, she couldn't move if she wanted to. Not that she didn't have a sense of direction, but how could she direct herself when there was no direction to follow? "Damn." The comment was muttered under her breath to herself. At least she had company.
He appeared to be somewhat civilized enough for a conversation. "I-If someone is wishing for death, that is." She retorted in reply to the stallion's comment. It was only suicide to be asked to be put in harm's way. Nothing good could come of it.. Like a certain situation that she was facing now. But a small thought or more accurately, a question tugged from deep within her own consciousness. Perhaps she was the one wishing for death?
Nevertheless, she WAS surprised when the stallion dashed over. He came so close and so quickly, that she felt like backing up to distance herself from him. "No." Willing herself to be unafraid, she gritted her teeth in determination. But she couldn't prevent the feelings of shyness mingled with fear. She was never in such close proximity with a stallion before either.. But this was not a normal stallion. He was simply, a monster.
"If the forest hurt me, than perhaps you will?" It was more of a statement, than a question.

The skinwalker was interested in the fact that Eden hadn't made an effort to move away or perhaps she couldn't? Still, an effort would have been clearer than the signs she was giving him now. Frightened defiance was never a card played well by someone caught off-guard but she had to admit the mare was doing a decent job at keeping level-headed. What was more intrigued perhaps, was the way she humored his philosophical musings as if Plato himself had given him some twisted perception of how life really was. "Yesss..." The stallion hissed again, contemplating her response for an intelligent reply. "Not spoken, not so much in words..." As he seemed to ponder, the male fidgeted, shifting his weight from leg to leg. "Yesss you're right. Correct. Clever girl." He sneered, the compliment tainted with a lewd, disgusting sort of tone.
In a sick gesture the stallion craned his neck and stuck out his tongue, only to run it along the mare's shoulder in a quick, unexpected movement. She tasted disgusting. Like filth and salt, innocence and happy-ever-afters. He'd wait for her reaction before moving away, the sorry mare nothing more than a mouse in a cat's grip.

"Is that meant to be a compliment? 'cause it certainly didn't feel or sound like one." She replied, with a scornful expression. Everything that came out of the stallion's mouth felt.. evil and tainted. Very much that she felt her soul was becoming invaded more and more by the darkness. Simply by his words.. and presence. "I don't like this.." Her consciousness warned. If she stayed here for longer.. her mind would soon deteriorate.. or so it felt like.
She still needed to stay sane.. for her family. Her love for her father willed her on living, but her hatred for mother kept her vengeful and miserable.
She was all set for scathing replies or insults but she wasn't prepared for what was to come next. Surprised or to be more accurate, she was shocked by the stallion's actions.. She felt the cool wetness of his tounge against her skin.. and the malicious intent behind it. She felt an unwanted blush arise to her cheeks. But she was not one for such behavior. What did he think she was? With a quick swing of her head, she slapped the other stallion away. "Get away from me!" She whispered vehemently, her gray eyes furious.
"Pray tell, What do you think your doing?" She said darkly. Her fear of him had disappeared.. And in his place, all she found was that he was another disgusting monster. No stallion of dignity would have ever done that. "If a monster like you has need for female company, simply go find a wench. it should be easy enough.. right?" Her voice and expression were filled with disgust and disdain.

Istaqa let the weak blow knock his face away, rather pleased with himself over the gruesome obtrusion to the mare's privacy. He could've gotten angry and lashed out in a violent retort to harm her ten-fold what that pathetic slap was worth, but the skinwalker stallion was enjoying the humiliated, angered look in her face too much.
He let out the loudest laugh yet, hoarsely groaning his amusement while staring directly into Eden's eyes. "Don't be ashaaaaamed, it looked like you were enjoying that for a moment!!" He laughed again and lunged his neck forwards, snapping his jaws tauntingly close to her flesh. "Don't preen yourself too much, you little vain whore-cow. If I wanted you, you'd be taken and spent and left to die in some shredded, bloody, forgotten mess by now! BELIEVE IT!" His voice roared and he stamped the ground with a claw-covered paw until his tone dropped again to a sleezy, skin-crawling hiss. "You'd like that, wouldn't you? You deserve it." He paused for a brief moment, tilting his face to the side to regard her with a single orange glare. He had a funny feeling about this one. Deep into the depths of this one, there was something dark. He wanted -needed- to provoke it more. "Maybe you know someone else who does to...?"

Her eyes grew frosty, her body tensing up at his words. "I think your going blind monster." She said, waving away the comment with a shrug of her shoulders and a flip of her mane. Her anger had disappeared and now indifference seemed to be seeping in.. What happened to her, she no longer cared about. Be it physical or emotional pain.. She felt as if she could withstand the stallion's words. After all, he couldn't surprise her anymore than by what he had already done. He had gone past the line of a monster into a lustful monster. How much more wonderful could this situation get?
But she didn't deny that his comments attacked her pride.. implying AND calling her a 'whore' but she refused to let the stallion see this.
"Are you sure your not preening YOURSELF? If I'm such a little vain-whore cow.. Aren't you some dis-illusioned little stallion who's pretending to be a monster? I don't see much of a difference in this situation." She mocked his own words with a deep voiceand threw it back into his face.
She flinched only a little as his jaws came dangerous close to her flesh. He could roar and stamp all he like .. But if he didn't carry out his threats, than what would be the use? He might have threatened to rip her apart, but she had some confidence that if he wasn't planning to.. or he would have done it already. That little information sustained some of her confidence to face up to him.
She regarding the other stallion with a cool stare, before answering in reply to his questions. "What are you talking about? If you can't remember to finish your sentences than don't say it."

The skinwalker lowered his head and let out a strained, rolling yowl from between clenched teeth. The mare was clever, he had to admit, which was mainly the reason why she was still breathing -- and still talking to him like he was some bad dream she could just push away from her mind until she woke up in her soft bed the next morning. It was her cunning tongue that had intrigued him to let her patronize, to let her believe she was in control. Now however, his thin patience was drawing to an abrupt end. This chance meeting was holding no purpose anymore and it was about to come to an end.
"Pretending?" The coyote-horse sneered, letting his hissing voice carry on after the many quips of attitude she'd barked back at him. "Of courssse... we pretend. All of usss. And in the game... we show our truthful nature..." As he spoke his riddles this time, Istaqa began to slowly move once again, head dropped as his expression grew notably dark. He was no longer interested in discussing the physics of thought or the morality of hate. "Tell me I'mmm a monnnster..." He stared at her from under his furry cloak, bright red-orange eyes ablaze like hellfire.
"Screaaam like a PIG!" At once the skinwalker lunged for Eden from her left side, his movements sharp and calculating as a stark contrast to his teasing gestures. His jaws were gaping wide and his pupils lost within the illumination of his eyes, claws digging for a foothold and inches from being deployed as thrashing weapons.

Eden was quick to notice the tension in the air, but before she realized what was happening.. the stallion had already lunged for her. Unfortunately, she didn't move quickly enough to dodge his attack fully and she came away with a bloody wound on her left shoulder. "Too close.." She mumured under her breath. She had moved quickly enough that the wound wasn't fatal to her life but the pain stung unbearably.
Panting heavily, It took effort for her words to come out. "Keep.. dreaming." She muttered angrily while leaning against a tree for support.
But she didn't dare to close her own eyes in case the stallion might attack again. Instead, she kept her eyes watchful and caution But.. She couldn't have missed the bloodlust within his eyes and the dark expression on his face. Everything that indicated he was a monster to even think of attacking his own kind. I guess he's not so harmless, huh? An inner voice told her, And apparently, he wasn't.
Perhaps he was just tired of her now and he had decided to attack? It wouldn't have been a surprise with the comments that she handed to him. But his comments weren't much better than her own, and some of them were a lot worse.
"Are we quick to resort to violence?" She question, with sarcasm dripping from her tone. Talking took alot of effort since the pain in her side seemed to be spreading but she would NOT be weak in front of this stallion. Her pride wouldn't handle it.
(I'm not sure he actually attacked or not, But I'm assume since he lunged, he hurt her a little? O:)

((I kept it open for you to decide whether or not she was fast or clever enough to avoid getting hurt ^^ If you don't mind, Istaqa's gonna try and chase her off now 83; She's tried his patience long enough.))
The stallion turned from his prey and loped a circle around the tree she was now bracing herself against. Blood from the superficial wound stained his teeth and dripped slightly down his muzzle, and he seemed to be savoring the sensation to its fullest. "Forgive me." He gurgled a malicious reply, appearing more the rabid feral creature than the cold, collected hunter. "But we mmmust admit... we can't deny our... true natures." He smirked, hoping the mare would indeed follow her instincts and flee like the cowardly imp she was. He was definitely in the mood for a nice, long, painful chase.
He appeared to be preparing for another go, focusing his twitchy movements on her meaty underbelly this time. Oh, how he'd love to spill those contents and mix them with the sick, swampy earth below...
