I want Rent, Phantom of the Opera and Gypsy. The first two are two disc sets so they're expensive, so really a wish list item.

What I'd like to get sometime is The Musical of Musicals. I've been looking around for it, but I haven't seen it at any stores. I'd rather not use Amazon.com, but I may have to....

Pharaoh Ramases If it's not on this list, I want it. The ones I REALLY want are: Chicago Phantom of the Opera Anything Goes Little Shop (revival or movie) Cabaret interesting...you could probably just download phantom. unless you're against downloading music or anything, which i respect but don't understand. which cast of chicago, and which cast of cabaret? and anything goes...lol, there are so many incarnations of that show...which one were you interested in? just curious. WickedElphie I've "pationatly" awaiting recordings for Dirty Rotten Scoundrals and the revival cast of La Cage, but I am counting down the minutes until Brooklyn is going to be all MINE! TUESDAY! TUESDAY! It comes out on TUESDAY! i saw brooklyn in november. it was amazing. seriously. yeah, i can't wait til tuesday! have you downloaded all the songs off the site? i know i have. xd i can't wait to see dirty rotten scoundrels! it's gonna be a hit, i think, but is a cast recording scheduled? and same for La Cage...i'm planning to see it actually this weekend, but is there a cast recording for the revival that's gonna come out? i know they updated it, so it seems likely that they'll record it.

Actually, I am. People have worked hard to make these recordings, and I feel that anyone who burns it off the computer is cheating them out of money. Probably the original casts of those musicals.

Pharaoh Ramases Actually, I am. People have worked hard to make these recordings, and I feel that anyone who burns it off the computer is cheating them out of money. Probably the original casts of those musicals. i see how that might apply to the mainstream commercial music industry...but then as far as cast recordings go, i wonder who gets the money. and considering how it should be about the art and not the money, i personally would be incredibly happy to have as many people as possible know about my music (of course, this from the perspective of someone who might be part of a cast album, not a pop artist). becuase in a business as small (yes, it is) as theater where you aren't really going to make much cash anyway (ironically, as small as the business is, the chances of working on broadway are still just as small), which is worse: not making that much money, or not getting your voice (whether as actor, musician, or the writer) heard? the more people know of your work regardless of whether or not they paid for it, the more likely your potential for whatever success it is you're looking at. if i'm the writer of a new musical and it gets recorded, sure, it might be nice to make some money, don't get me wrong. but if the price steers people away from my work, and it becomes forgotten, i'd feel a lot more cheated than if i didn't get whatever royalties from sales. i'd prefer to sacrifice some cash for the better goal of creating great art that recieves critical recognition. hell, look at stephen sondheim. it's not like cast recordings really make that much money to begin with...and therefore, it might seem more heinous to cheat them out of their money, but i think most people aren't in it for the money to begin with. i think it's more about trying to preserve the score of a show. but no, i do understand and respect your take on things; i just disagree.
