"I don't need new clothes." Alora had stated bluntly while her nose was in the book, but it had still resulted on the telekinetic dragging her to the mall. She hadn't put up much of a fight though, she knew it wasn't a good thing to fight with Yourie. From the arguments she had observed with Mereneth, the teenager was one tough cookie.
"Alright then." The brunette chirped happily, steering the dove through the mall. "Where do you want to go? And no, not the bookstore." She fixed the girl with a 'you're not getting your way today' stare.
Alora heaved a sigh, fingering her sling bag, itching to get her fingers in and read her book. "Dresses then." She barely glanced around as the teenager pulled her to the nearest stall. She'd rather be reading than shopping, dammit!

"I'm just not sure we have anything in - " The tall, haughty-looking woman balanced on high heels in the nearest aisle sounded patronizingly smug, her long blonde hair upswept and held in place with clips the exact shade of her salesperson jacket. Unfortunately, her superior attitude seemed wholly wasted on the pair in front of her.
"You do so!" Interrupted the smaller, a young child whose striped dark hair seemed almost ordinary compared to the multi-colored skin peeking from her baggy, two-sizes-too-large T-shirt and worn jeans. The arms at her chest crossed a bit oddly owing to the bright fins that ruffled from wrist to elbow, but her scowl still spoke volumes. Bright green eyes sparkled like angry gemstones. "They're right over there!"
"She wears exactly the same size as her sisters." Added the slender, lithe woman standing beside Jewel, her mane of thick blue curls braided long down her back. Like her daughter, the green gaze she leveled at the saleswoman was anything but friendly. "And both of them have had clothing from this store. What could possibly be the problem?"

"This looks nice." The teenager picked a pink dress from a nearby rack and holding it against the child, who was fiddling with her blond hair, obviously uninterested.
"Emi likes pink, not me." Alora protested softly, looking down at the outfit and making a face. "You know I like blu..." She was interrupted by the argument ensuing and grateful for the distraction, slid away from the protesting Yourie to see what was going on.
Mouth dropped open as sky blue eyes noticed the colorful girl. She looked exactly the same as she remembered...."Jewel?" The dove squeaked, a small grin spreading on her face.
"Ooh, a friend of yours?" The teenager chirped, sliding up to them, not before putting the dress back on the rack, much to Alora's relief. Then, noticing the situation they were in, she put her hands on her waist. "Yeah, what's wrong, blondie?"

Jewel blinked, distracted from the annoying saleswoman by the newcomers. Head tilted curiously to one side, she peered at the winged blonde for a few seconds before her eyes widened. "Alora?!?" She yelped in disbelief. "You - oh, wow! Lora, you grew!"
The fish child flung herself at her fellow D-Corp child, hugging Alora tightly. "You look awesome!" Without letting go, she glanced up at Yourie, beating both the employee and her amused mother to an explanation. "This lady thinks I don't fit any of the clothes here just 'cause I have fins. She's an idiot."
"Jewel." Rune raised an eyebrow, though her lips quirked. Glancing over at Alora, she smiled. She'd always liked the little Dove girl, even fit it had only been a few group playdates. "Well, Alora, you really do look nice." Her gaze flicked to Yourie, filled with all the warmth they'd lacked seconds before. "I'm Rune, and this is Jewel."
The saleswoman gaped, utterly stunned. Had this - this little ragamuffin freak just called her an idiot? She could hardly wrap her head around it.

The dove gasped slightly as the fish threw herself at her, then responded to this with a grin and returning the hug with both arms. "It's good to see you too. And you don't look so bad yourself!"
The teenager snorted, casting a skeptical look at the saleswoman. "Next thing you're gonna say, Alora can't fit in those clothes cause of her wings? Bullshit." She snapped, then added after an afterthought, muttering. "Though if it wasn't for that spell, I'd have no idea how to fit that dress on her." Still. It didn't mean this woman could be so impolite to a customer.
"Hi." Yourie responded with a grin. Rune...yup, Melody had mentioned the name along with the three toddlers. "And I'm Yourie."

Jewel giggled at Yourie, quite pleased with the shade of the employee's darkening complexion. Rune's smile turned into a full smirk, accompanied by a low laugh and dancing eyes. "Tell me about it. Pretty much everything I buy has to be spelled with flame-resistance, water-resistance - plus the holes for tails, wings, fins, spikes - " She shook her head. "Just wish I could spell them not to wear out. Or maybe to grow with the kid."
Now the saleswoman was blinking quite rapidly, mouth hanging open slightly in absolute disbelief. Who were these people?!? How dare they -
"Well lookie here." A cheery voice spoke from behind the group, and a smirking young woman padded into view, her punk-rock leathers and spiky dark hair very odd with the employee tag pinned to her shirt. "Hey, Sandra. What'd I miss?"
"Zannie!" Jewel grinned from ear to ear, releasing her hold on Alora with one hand to tug at the woman's pantleg. "Oh, goodie. We're lookin' for good clothes. Can ya find some?" Then she peeked up at the Dove. "Lora, are you lookin for clothes?"

Brown orbs danced in the eighteen year old's eyes with pleasure as she watched the discomfort she was apparently giving to the saleswoman. Feels great to be rebellious. She grinned to herself. "Yup. Oh that would save loads of money." She shot a glare at the dove girl. "Just don't tell me we have to buy clothes for your dragon when we get it."
"Dragons don't wear clothes." Alora protested with a slight huff. "Dragons wouldn't mind jewelry though." The teenager sighed. "Figures. Expensive stuff. Whoopdeedoo." She muttered in a voice pinched with sarcasm.
"Um...yeah." The dove responded with a shrug. "Yourie says I need to buy more."

Jewel grinned from ear to ear, the expression oddly predatory on her multi-colored face as she smirked at 'Sandra.' "We don't need you now." She announced imperiously. "You can go away." Without another word, she turned excitedly back to Alora and Yourie, completely ignoring the open-mouthed gasp from the blond woman - and the choking snorts of laughter from her mother and Zhann. "Ooooo, jewelry? You would look good with shinies!"
Trying desperately to stifle her giggles, Rune muttered a cantrip under her breath; a flick of her fingers at their adversary, and the unfortunate employee vanished in a rain of silvery-blue sparkles. Zhann - 'Zannie' - nearly exploded, eyes watering with amusement. "I don't even CARE how much trouble I get in - that was SO worth it."
Rune shook her head, grinning fondly at her daughter. It wouldn't do any good to chastise the little girl - besides the fact that it was undeniably funny to see, Jewel did come by the attitude honestly, what with their weeks spent with her royal kin. Her gaze flicked to Alora, analyzing the willowy little dove. "Maybe some jeans and T-shirts?" She hazarded.

The teenager chortled at the kid's remark. This girl had serious attitude, which amused her much. Sureee, Mereneth had the same personality, but he turned it on her instead. Pfft.
"Um, no. Not me. The dragon." Alora blushed slightly, tugging on the hem onf her blue dress. "I've only got this though." She held up the silver peace symbol pendant which hung around her neck.
"Jeans?" The girl winced slightly, turning to look at her tail feathers. Even though a spell could help her put them out much more comfortably, she didn't really want to go through the trouble. "I prefer dresses, actually."

"Oh, that's right. You have tail feathers." Rune winced. "Aeris and Alter don't have tail feathers, just wings."
"Dray has a tail." Jewel peeked at Alora's back, making a face. "But it's pro'ly easier for her with one big piece. Feathers would HURT."
Zhann grinned, her expression kind. "Dresses makes sense. Got any styles you prefer? We've got a ton."

Alora grinned, shrugging. Mereneth had one whole tail too, but he had it easier, what with his invisibility powers and all. "Blue dresses." She said quickly, before Yourie could put in a word.
The teenager frowned, crossing her arms. "Your closet has too many blue and silver stuff. Why don't cha be like Emi and like pink too?"
"I...don't think I look good in pink." The dove said quietly, cheeks reddening. Pink was a little...too girly for her. It suited Emi, not her!

Zhann tilted her head to one side, eyeing the young dove critically with one eyebrow quirked. "I think you'd look good in pink. But you're right, blue is good on you." She smiled and turned to search some of the nearby racks. "We've got a few, let me see."
Jewel shook her head, one arm still curved easily around Alora's leg. "Lora looks good in anythin." The child grinned happily. "But I like you in blue!"

"But...but..." The girl stammered, as Yourie slung a arm around her shoulders to give her a 'I told you so' grin.
"Thanks." Alora smiled down at the fish girl. "What colors do you like?" She added. "I mean...you're looking for clothes too, right?"

Jewel frowned slightly, resting her head against Alora's hip as she thought. "I dunno." She replied after a second. "Yup, we're lookin' for new clothes, but I like lotsa colors." A faintly shy grin flashed. "Guess 'cause I'm lotsa colors too."
"Maybe we'll just have to get you some of everything." Rune ruffled the little girl's bangs, a fond smile on her lips. "And I bet Alora would tell you if something looks really good."
"You would?" Jewel beamed up at the Dove. "Mama will, she's like that, but she's Mama. She loves me no matter what."

Alora smiled back down at the smaller girl. "That makes sense." Her snow-white wings fluttered slightly under the air-conditioning as a faint smile of longing spread across her lips, eyes watching the mother-daughter scene. "Um, yeah, of course I would." She grinned, glancing at the teen. "Yourie could help too."
"Moms do that, I guess. Mom does too...but she isn't here." A wave of sadness spread over her, but she shrugged it off with a small smile as the teenager patted her.
