Anyone here play the violin or any other string instrument? If you do, this is the place to be!

ShortStop14 Anyone here play the violin? Now that you mention it, we don't have an official thread for strings/non-marching instruments. sweatdrop ShortStop14, can you change the thread title to "Official String Section/Non-Marching Instruments Thread" or something like that? (I could, but seeing as you're online...)

Also, what chair are you, and how long have you been playing?
I am third chair and have been playing about a year. I am really hoping I make all-county orchestra, since I already made all-state.

My cello is named Cello-san because -san is a gender-neutral title and I don't know whether Cello-san is a boy cello or a girl cello. I don't think I ever want to know. xp

(I could, but seeing as you're online...) I don't know why we would need to include "non-marching" instruments here. The only non-marching instruments that aren't lumped into a thread with marching instruments are the double reeds, and they have their own thread. This can stay just for strings (and we'll count piano and that sort of thing in here too).

I can sortof play violin...mostly due to my knowledge of guitar...but at the moment I have not a violin of my own...that actually works...
My ex-girlfriends dad and I, once he gets some glue...are going to start the process of refurbishing a 1720 steiner violin...so for the cost of materials I'll be getting a collectors item...
Of course I play guitar, and spent seven years on piano...but thats beside the point...I can't wait to get to reparing that steiner...I'm stoked.

I wish I could play the violin. Its a beautiful instrument... I might learn it after I have my guitar playing perfected... But I've been playing guitar for about a year now. I even tried out to play guitar for jazz band this year... I was 3rd... but they only needed 2... >.<

I love the bass as well...I actually learned bass before guitar...and I'm an outstanding guitarist because of it...but heres a joke I"ve learned pertaining to us low note players.

Answer:

Kaiser Eline Well, I can play the electric, acoustic, and bass guitars, but my gay band director won't let me play any of them in band. gonk crying gonk That stinks. I have a friend who rocks at the guitar, and he brought it to school on friday. I am so serious. HE ROCKS! And in orchestra, he plays the viola, which he is still pretty good at, but he deffinatly wishes he could play the guitar. He plays electric/acoustic.
