It had only been a short time since he had left his parents to travel off on his own. His young mucles were tence and sore but he was determined, DETERMINED, that he would become a true lion. He knew in his heart he could be a lion and he wasn't about to let anyone tell him otherwise.
His dark coat hid him well in the darkness but during the day he stuck out like a soore thumb although his odd, golden streaks helped him to camoflage slightly. He lay resting in the morning sun, his long slender legs held out before him, his icey green eyes closed to the world.
He little knew that he was upon the borders of a pride lands. He had been told little about prides, about marking territories or border markings so he had all but ignored any scent of other creatures, assuming they were simply passing through as he was.
Perhaps, if he had known, he never would have rested in this spot.

Ahh, a chance to get away from it all. Raza had her paws full since she arrived back into the Mteo lands. 5 cubs, four of whom were males, kept her on her toes constantly. She'd dumped them on her siblings, Angu was out patrolling, and now was Raza's chance to slip away. She meandered out to the borders, somewhat dissatisfied with her new, happy life. She had a pride now, a mate, and a family... all she ever could have dreamed of! Yet, somehow, it was getting a bit... boring. Everything was peaceful, everything was the same, day-in day-out. She longed for some excitement to enter her life, but she hid this. The Pride wanted little of excitement... No rogues, no strangers, no non-lions allowed. "Psh," Raza said, slightly irritated. Such was the life her pride wanted her to live, though, so she'd have to put up with it.
She had been raised in a different world- the roguelands. While at the time, she'd seen herself quite caged, she realized now just how free she used to be. A sigh came from the blue lioness as she sat in the grass. Excitement, drama... Though she'd always dreamed of a peaceful life, more and more it was apparent that these were the things she really wanted in her life. Little did she know, that today would begin such a time... Her luck was about to change.
With that, she passed beyond the boundaries, not caring what anyone would think of her wandering back into roguelands again. She'd return by the end of the day... Besides, she honestly couldn't leave Angusho, she was too in love. She meandered until she spotted another creature- a little black thing. Her ears perked up as she padded towards it confidently- it was a little thing, probably a cub. "Hello there," She said almost curiously as she pushed through the grass towards the little guy.

Mbura was upon his paws in an instant as the blue lioness came wandering through the long grass. Mbura, having been raised with a green cheetah as a father didn't find blut that unusual, but her markings seemed ever so strange to him, so complex, so he stood for a moment admireing her tattoo like patterns before he spoke.
"Greetings." He puurred confidently, for his father had given him this gift, the gift to truely puurr as no lion could. Fluffing out his fur he tried to make himself look larger than he truely was, after all, he was supposed to be a lion cub not a cheeton, if he could convince this lioness, he could convince anyone! He told himself that quietly his ice green eyes shimmering in the midmorning light, his chin strutting forwards. Lions were confident, bold, never fearful. He could be a lion, he could.

"Hello there," Raza said again as she looked over him. "My name's Barazahi, Raza for short, what's yours?" She asked, biding her time to get a chance to decide what the little male was. He looked like a lion, he really did, but he had his mane growing down his neck already! As cubs, lions usually only had a tuft on the top of their head, but this one seemed to have a head-start growing his mane out. She pulled herself out of the quick analyzation to sit again. "Are you lost?" She asked quickly. She couldn't imagine why a cub would be out this far away from other prides alone... She needed to know why he was out here before she'd say another word. She pondered what he was for a moment... He seemed like a lion, but something in her suggested otherwise... She pondered what to ask him after he supplied her with the answer she needed to find out

The dark male watched the deep blue female for a long momnment as he pondered her questions. Pondering, it was the best thing in the world his father had given him, a sharp mind and an imagination. "My name is Mbura ma'am My mother gave the name to me for my markings are like the leaves upon the tree from which I am dubbed." He licked his lips, nervous for a moment keeping his body tenced and fluffed, he had to stay looking chubby, like a lion cub. Just like a lion cub.
"No ma'am I am not lost, I simply left my parents as they were heading in a direction I did not wish to go." It was the truth, in the pride which his mother intended to go, they would know he was a cheeton, they would scorn himand call him freak, he refused to be called freak. "I search for a pride and a family to grow in and learn their customs." Another truth though of course he said nothing of his origins, he was a lion cub, he was a lion cub, if he could convince this female, he could convince anyone. he was a lion cub.

Raza's face softened considerably at his response. Yes, she'd had the desire to break free herself too, but was kept too close an eye on. She'd rolled her eyes at her parents, and as such, she would not force this cub back to his parents. "That's mighty mature of you," Raza said honestly. "You're near a pride, the Mteo'Nyungu, I'm a member." Barazahi informed him. She almost regretted that she belonged to them... so closed to rogues. She pretended to understand it to her mother and father, but she didn't. "If you're serious, I could probably take you under my wing. I'm pretty sure my mate, Angusho, and my cubs would be fine with it. Our king has taken a more accepting turn towards rogues as well, so it should be relatively easy for you to join, Mbura. If you're interested." Raza told him.
"You've got quite the mane for a cub," she observed before he could say anything. His response, whether he knew it or not, would give her the answer she needed- what exactly was he...?

A pride, here? He hadn't even realised. a smile rose on his lips though he quickly flushed it away, he didn't want to seem too keen though having a lion mother and father to adopt him would certainly put him good stead.
She had cubs to? He could grow up amongst cubs, amongst lion cubs and learn their ways more closely.
His train of thought was interrupted though when she mentioned his mane. His mind, though sharp, could think of no excuse for the length of fur growing down his neck. "My mother always said that was normal for a lion cub.." He flinched slightly, an all out lie, he got the fur tuft from his father the cheetah. Swallowing audably he looked up at the deep blue lioness. "Isn't it normal to have lots of hair? I'm maybe just, older than your cubs.." excuses started to dance on his tongue and he tried in vein to pikck out the ones that sounded most plausable, only to find himself stumpped and simply stareing at the highly patterned lioness goggle eyed.

Barazahi's eyes tightened a bit as she looked closer at the mane. "You could be older..." She said thoughtfully. "More likely, I think, it's that you're from a different region. You'd be surprised what living in a certain area can do to looks," She said, thinking about all of the individuals she'd met as rogues. Some were furrier than others, she decided that must be it. "I haven't seen it before, but I suppose it's kinda cool, huh? You'll make my boys jealous, they don't have such a full mane as you yet." She chuckled, dropping the topic. Mbura had her fooled, for now. Perhaps she'd catch onto his little secret, perhaps not, only time could tell. For now, though, she was convinced that he was just from a different region, and that that explained the "lion's" odd little mane.
"You should at least stay the night, what do you say?" Barazahi asked, laying down to be on an eye-to-eye level with the bulkier-than-normal cheeton. Her pride so desperately needed numbers, she knew the king wouldn't turn the cub down should he request to join. She really didn't want a cub meandering around alone, either. Her motherly instincts were kicking in the more she talked to the cute black-and-gold cub.

Region? "Yeah maybe it's because I'm from near the jungle." It wasn't exactly a lie, his father had grown up in the tree tops so he was therefore, decended from the jungle. The talk of his mane though did still make him a tad nervous. It worried him ore than perhaps it should that the mane, which now seemed to be flourishing and outstripping the lionesses cubs, would perhaps never grow in. What if he had that simple flash of hair forever and never a true mane? It was something he would have to worry about in the future, for now her kind words comforted him.
"Yeah..I'd like that." He whispers bouncing forwards as only cubs could with a light spring in his step, he rolled his body beneath her chin a puurr curling over his lips. Perhaps she would not notice this sound, as it was something a true lion could not perform, though of course, Mbura did not know that, he always simply assumed his mother didn't like to puur unlike his father whom often gave the rolling sound from deep in his chest.
"Your mate sounds nice too, and your pride, can you, can you teach me all about your pride?" He smiled innocently those watery green eyes looking hopeful.

Barazahi nodded at Mbura's mention of the jungle. It was a place she had never been, it was quite far away anyway, and while her family had been lost for a time, they hadn't been that lost. She purred too, not as deeply as the cub (whose purr she'd paid no mind to,) when he rolled under her chin.
She sighed, though, at the thought of her pride. "I can teach you all about us. We're a bit odd in our ways, if you ask me, but that's a secret." Raza whispered to the cub. "The Mteo'Nyungu aren't too inviting of rogues... My parents believe them to be heathens. But our pride is small, a plague damaged our numbers greatly, leaving a small pride. While some of the older members are a little rougher on rogues, the king is becoming much more accepting of them. We need new members since our numbers are dwindling... The only way is to accept rogues." She continued to talk, telling Mbura of the thought blood that dwelled in every lion (This part of their religion, she believed) and of how Kita'Mauti, the death fixer, had removed the shadows of decaying thoughts left by the unspilled thought blood. She explained that, in this way, rogues created more darkness when they died, by failing to release the blood, and that was the only reason she could see that the pride was so... against rogues. "Again," Raza said as she concluded the tale that her pride carried, "You don't know that I don't believe the rogue part. If you plan on staying in our pride, then the smart thing to tell Warithi, our king, or anyone else for that matter, is that you understand that you were wrong in the past and wish to change your ways. That should suffice, especially for a cub." Barazahi hoped she hadn't confused or bored the young male, it was a long tale.

Mbura listened intently to her tale, his ears flickering a little as she spoke of the traditions, of her warnings and words of caution. It seemed a strange pride to him, but at the same time he felt deep in his heart that he could be accepted as one of them. Icey green eyes shimmered and he smiled. If he could fool this lioness into thinking he was all lion, he could fool anyone. He felt confident and proud of himself. He would be a lion.
"I will learn what ever I must Raza." He whispers a smile playing on his dark features. "Your pride sounds a very interesting place to be." He grinned then, his mind settling on the idea of not only staying the night.

"It is interesting indeed." Barazahi nodded. "Well, we'd better get a start back if we want to make it to my den by dusk. I doubt we'll run into any pridemembers tonight, it's best that we don't. You'll get to meet my family tonight, though." Barazahi said more cheerfully. She normally wasn't so... negative towards her pride. She simply hadn't had anyone to rant at... Perhaps she should meet up with Ata sometime soon- she could always rant to her. She had grown a fresh appreciation for her sibling when she stood up for Raza and Angu against her mother. She'd always loved her sister, but that fairly-recent event had refreshed the feeling. "Maybe we'll meet up with my sister tomorrow..." She said, pondering the possibility.

The dark cub nodded, a smile playing on his maw as he wrangled his small body between her front legs. A glimmer shone in those pale green eyes and he nodded. "What ever you say Raza." He grinned. He hadn't thought it would be this easy to become a lion. A smile spread wide accross his maw as he followed after the large blue female. This was the start. He would be a lion forever and no one would ever call him a freak again.

"No need for such formalities!" Raza chuckled at the cub, tired of the heavy conversation. "Once they get used to seeing you around, it'll be just like you were born here! But til then, just watch where your paws take you...." She paused, only for a moment. "C'mon, let's head to my den. You can spend the night there. After that, we've got a busy day ahead of us. I'll have to introduce you to the king and queen." She gave him a kind nod and started to pad towards the place she called home.
She paused once again. There was so much to her pride... She wanted him to get it all, but not in one sitting. "You see that huge cliff face? Everyone's dens are in that face. It's an awesome view, I'm sure you'll like it." Raza said as she continued.

Mbura smiled confidently, he was a lion. He had to keep telling himself that, he would make himself a lion and he would be accepted and loved within this pride. He lifted his chin and followed Raza. "Wow, it looks like an awsome place to live." He grins padding along with a jaunt in his step.
"The king and queen huh? I'm sure if they are as nice as you I'll be fine." He grins, taking heed of her words, he would lay low and keep out of trouble, to be a lion he would do what ever Razaa told him to.
