To start things off, I figured that I'd post the source images I used for the guild's banners and signature images. Some are pretty much just used as is, others were heavily edited.
This one was chosen to be the main guild entrance banner image, because it's so beautiful, and because the girl is holding a book (this is a literate guild, get it), and because there is a hint of sexuality that is just implied. As you can see, in the guild banner image, I rotated it and added that dream-like bordering that I like.
This was our second choice for the guild banner image. Saria liked it's beautiful, dreamy, and sketchy look, but I kinda thought the girls looked a little young, and it didn't have the implied sexuality - and the book - that the other did. I did pretty much nothing to this pic, it came with the border.
This is one of my favourite source images for the banners. I live the naughty imagery - I really like pics that have an angel and a demon together. I also loved the blatant sexuality, and the fact that it looked like they were being so naughty and just didn't give a s**t. I added the same dreamy border that I added for the first one, but otherwise, did nothing to this pic.
The naughtiest pic of all. ^_^ The banners made from this pic have gotten us a hell of a lot of attention. ^_^ In fact, it was so successful that I made two banners from the same pic. The first one I rotated the pic, and put it in a black frame that had that torn away look. For the second one, I had to add some extensions to the blonde's hair, to make it curl away without a hard cutoff.
This one is my personal favourite. I liked the banner I made from this so much I signed it. If you look at the source picture you see those two little circles there by the girl's face. I used them as the tail of a thought bubble. I just love this pic, it's so playful and naughty by itself, but I think the banner is also the funnest because of the joke.
This is one of the most heavily edited of all of the source images. I totally removed the eye chart - in fact, I removed the entire background. I also edited the shorter girl's face - I changed the look of terror to a smile. And of course, I separated the two. I did all this because I wanted a banner with two women looking at each other. I think the end result, despite all that work, is meh.
I wanted a banner with a Japanese theme, because this is an anime role-playing community, and I thought this picture was beautiful, and had a nice traditional Japanese ink-painting flavour. I did some slight editing to make a smooth transition, but otherwise, I didn't do anything. I have another, bigger version of this picture, that shows more than just the faces. I'll post that someday later, I promise.
When I saw this picture, I fell in love with it. It's small, but it's soooooo beautiful. I totally love it!
heart When I made the banner, I had to extend the fence, and if Saria hadn't been hounding me to finish it, I would have added fence posts. ^_^ The transition is also a little rough, but ah well. This one and the Japanese inspired one are the only two that I think I might go back to some day and improve.
There are probably more to come, too. When I get a few more, I'll make a new post, then edit this one to put a link here, ok?
