Ok, Ok
Clearly the gorgeous male actor Gaspard Ulliel has the looks and the talent to play our beloved Edward Cullen, even the anti-movie goers can agree he's hot.
But!
I just can't see him playing Edward... especially when I think about it from the directors view.
It's nothing against him ... I love him!
But lets not forget, Gaspard's got the looks and talent ....but he also has that really strong, yet sexy, french accent.
The character of Edward Cullen was born in Chicago. He's not supposed to be French.
I know, I know...It is possible for an actor to change their accents.
Hugh Laurie did it for House (but he is a 48 year old man who had a lot of practice)
Also
Edward's character is very... emotional, he can talk for a long, long time. He will go into effortless and lengthy monologues every once in a while.
Imagine how hard that will be for Gaspard if he has to repress his accent
Yeah, he did a fantastic job in Hannibal Rising, but remember most of his lines were usually a few sentences and he looked like he had a hard time with his accent.
No doubt about it he could play a good Edward ... but lets be a bit more realistic here. Edward is not French.
