Mitsurugi smiled as he adjusted his gloves. Winter was hitting them hard but today was very nice, light snow fell softly and gathered at their feet as they walked to the shops. We of course being Rogue and himself. She had wanted to go shopping for presents early in the morning, but it was now after noon and they had only ordered some sort of musical device for Zukin that Rogue knew she wanted. Not that it mattered what they were doing, it was fun to be outside during peaceful times.
Usually one of the defenders of the warmth, Rogue was a few feet ahead of Mitsurugi very hyper and happy as she tried to catch the falling snowflakes on her tongue, her scarf slipping away constantly and threatened to dip into the cold snow before she fixed it just in time. An unknown tune was being hummed by her as she practically leapt to her next target. A few more successes later had her turning around to face Mitsurugi. "Mitsu? Arent'cha going to play too? I mean, we don't even know where we're goin', so we might as well have fun until we get there, right?"
Mitsurugi shook his head, a small smile forming on his face. "What are you talking about? I am having fun. I'm just not expressing it in the same manner that you're used to, is all."
"Well... at least try it!" Mitsurugi paused before sticking his tongue out, and quirked up an eyebrow as Rogue started laughing. She made a motion for him to tilt his head up, and-
"Ack! Ow, my eye!" He shook his head and blinked rapidly a few times before rubbing both eyes with his hands. "That didn't seem like much fun to me," but while it wasn't much fun, it wasn't very unpleasant either. After all, it had set Rogue into a fit of giggles.
"Alraght. Let's try something else." She giggled some more before shaking her head and pointing behind her to the direction they were previously heading. "Wanna keep goin' then?" she suggested. They could probably buy a present or two before the day was through.

Serge sighed, a grin on his face as he walked through the drifting snowflakes. He was out with his new sister, on an errand, or well, he had been. There or items that had to be delivered to a few places, and he'd just finished up.
Now that the job was done, the two were free for the rest of the day. And it seemed his new sister was loving it. She'd been assigned to him for whatever reason, though he couldn't honestly say he minded, the company was nice to have.
She was nearly as silent as he was at times, and only ever seemed to talk to him, again something he didn't mind. Her name was Amaterasu, though they all just called her Ammy, and was a wolf girl, for lack of any better description.
Ammy near danced through the snow as she moved, her red and white hair twirling about her as she moved. This was the first time been out since the snow started, and she frankly like the stuff.
She wasn't really what one could call the hyper type, but at the same time, she was. Though to her, she was just adventurous, nothing more to it.
She got a little further a head of her brother before stopping. She was pleased when she looked at him to see him smiling softly, his head down a little and eyes closed. The image would make for a great painting.
She was always painting at home, and she'd find all her inspiration out on walks like this. She had what he dad called a photographic memory, which left her this freedom, to go out with out her supplies and find images, even in fluid moments, to paint.

Their journey had them looking inside of some stores along with a few turns on the streets. By now they were simply walking and talking, well, Rogue was talking and Mitsurugi added his input occasionally or when it was deemed necessary.
"So I think that's going to be fabulous, and then- Oooh, she's so pretty!"
As they turned another corner Rogue caught sight of a beautiful white coat with fascinating red markings. She grabbed onto Mitsu's sleeve and tugged twice, "Isn't she pretty?" She murmured as she stole more glances at the wolf girl.
Mitsurugi nodded, "Yes she's very pretty. But Rogue, it's impolite to stare... and to point. She might not assume that you're in favour of her appearance." Not that it should have been an issue, but he had noticed some of the looks their older sister Zukin used to get before the persons got to know her. Appearances can be deceiving, and he didn't want a stranger to think that they were gawking and insulting.
Rogue nodded and sighed. Mitsurugi could be such a spoilsport sometimes, but she had to admit that he did have a point. Well, perhaps when they walked past her Rogue could smile and slip out a compliment.
But perhaps that wouldn't be necessary, Rogue thought as she spotted a familiar bluenette. "Hey look, there's Serge!"
Mitsurugi quirked an eyebrow at Rogue's discovery as she called out to him with a small wave. Interesting. A small smile adorned his face as he accompanied the happy Rogue to meet her friend, and possibly make a new one.

Serge's head popped up almost instantly at the sound of that voice. "Rogue!" He called back with a wave of his own before spotting to guy with her.
The boy canted his head to the side curiously.
Ammy turned to look in the direction of the voice as her brother's head popped up. She too canted her head as she caught site of the two new comers.
Though she noticed the girl, her attention seemed to fixate on the boy. With out much thought seeming to be put into it, the wolf girl moved toward him to get a better look. Just something about him...

As she walked over, a grin was plastered to her face. "Hey Serge, how's it goin'? We're just out christmas shoppin'. This is Mitsu..rugi." She added quickly on the end with a grin.
Mitsurugi nodded, "Hello. " His eyes shifted to the girl, feeling a mixture of curiousness and confusion as she got closer.

"Hi." Was the return greeting from Serge. "Christmas shopping huh? I suppose I should start on that sooner or later. But right now, most of my savings are at home, I only brought enough to get food if Ammy and stayed out long enough to need it."
The boy paused for a moment before grinning sheepishly. "Speaking of Ammy..." He said as he walked over to the wolf girl.
Ammy looked curiously over Mitsurugi, sniffing here and there as she walked around him, before finally coming to a stop right in front of him, staring right into his eyes, mere inches from his face, though she had to push up to her tip-toes to do so.
Before much more than a moment of her staring into the boy's eyes had passed, she was suddenly tugged away by the back of her jacket, a yelp escaping her mouth at the sudden and unexpected action. Looking back over her shoulder, she found Serge there, with an odd grin on his face, and the slightest hints of a blush.
Had she done something wrong?

Rogue nodded happily, "Oh well that's nice. We don't have much right now, but we ordered Zukin's present. It's this huge music thing, Ah bet she's gonna love it!" She spoke in excited tones.
Mitsurugi looked at her with kind eyes as she moved closer to examine him, assuming that she was simply curious about something and would cause him and Rogue no harm. "Can I help you with something?" With the girls' strange actions Mitsurugi hardly noticed that he had let a smile escape momentarily. He wasn't entirely sure what she was doing, or if there was something she was expecting him to do. But he didn't have to wonder any longer as Serge came to put distance between them.
Rogue smiled at Ammy once the transition was complete, "Hi Ammy, Ah'm Rogue. It's nice to meet you, you're pretty." She spoke in a friendly tone as she smiled at the other.

"Sorry about that..." Serge said as he let go of Ammy's coat. "She does that when she's curious about people...we're still working on acceptable social behavior..."
Ammy lifted her hand in silent greeting, a big smile on her face from the compliment.
Serge chuckled a bit. "She doesn't really say much to anyone but me." The boy explained with a light hearted smile. "One of the reasons I look out for her most of the time I suppose."
"Get to know her well enough, and she doesn't even need to speak to get points across." He added with a laugh, his violet eyes shining with silent laughter, at some unknown joke.

Mitsurugi couldn't help but smile at Ammy's reaction. "Don't worry about it, no harm done. Curiosity is nothing to apologize for."
A brilliant smile lit up Rogues face as his words registered. To be so close to someone where you didn't have to tell them things, they just knew. That sounded crazy, but it also sounded nice. Kind of like when Tatriana would listen to her problems and would always know the right things to say- except they didn't speak. Alright, sort of a bad example, but Rogue didn't mind.
"That's so sweet. Why don't we have that kind of connection Mitsu? You always have to ask me questions to figure out if somethings wrong, or something."
"I'm not a mind reader. I would like to be able to instantly know the problem, but it's not that simple." Mitsurugi spoke in a soft tone as to not offend. He knew that look on her face well, and could read it better than she thought. This Serge boy set her hopes up high with his happy words and probably wouldn't even notice or care when they crumbled to the ground.
Rogue simply sighed, well if it wasn't meant to be- then she didn't need a fairytale fantasy.
((Rogue = over exaggerating to the extremes about such a little thing. haha))

"Mitsurugi is right ya know." Serge said, his smile fading slightly. "Its not so simple, Ammy is just special in that way." He explained. "It's something about her that makes it possible."
Ammy smiled at Mitsurugi, happy at his words. But soon enough had an obvious blush tinting the inside of her ears, it was kind of embarrassing the way Serge put that, all be it in a good way.
After a moment of that though, the wolf girl went back to her smile, and grabbed Rogue's hand, pulling the girl a little bit away from the boys before letting the hand go. Stepping away for her, she skipped a couple of steps away before spinning on her tiptoe, head turned to the sky.
Stopping, she pointed to Rogue, and the repeated the spin, forgoing the skips.

Her attitude perked back up as she realized the terms for the magical connection. "Oh, well then. In that case, Ah don't mind." After all, Ammy was simply gorgeous, it just made sense for her to have some fantastic ability like that.
Rogue was hardly finished her thought when she was led a few feet away. It took a few seconds later for her to shake away the shock before she noticed what was happening.
A smile quickly crept up to her face and she took one step forward and pushed off with the other. She tilted her head up as she held her arms out, a giggle escaping her lips as she almost lost her footing but moved to spin again.
The snow fell around her as if not to block her motions, some flakes even wrapped around her arms as she spun and shifted the air. She caught a snowflake on her tongue before giggling.
What simple delights children could find.
Mitsurugi watched as the girls spun in the falling snow and didn't notice as a smile appeared on his face as well. This seemed so right. Having fun as children, in the snow no less. Back before he was taken into the world of Traverse he never would have dreamed this happening.
Maybe he was being too uptight with everything, and always so overprotective. When he had found out Minerva had grown and didn't need him anymore... well, she never really needed him in the first place, did she?
Turning to the other boy next to him, he tilted his head slightly as if to survey him. He opened his mouth to speak as he righted his head again, and closed his mouth.
After a few second pause he tried again, "You... I can trust you?"
He had seen all of the little interactions between the three and was quite impressed. In fact, he was almost jealous. But that was good. In a way.
It meant he could trust Serge. Trust Serge to be there when he wasn't, to be a friend to Rogue when she needed it. To defend her honor and to strive for better things for the soul purpose of that task.
Of course, it wouldn't hurt if they befriended each other as well. It would probably do the boy good. Although he would never act as openly friendly as Rogue did with her friends. That would just be too much for him. At least right now.

"You can." Serge responded with out even looking away from the girls. A smile near plastered on his face. "I act only when I or those I hold dear are threatened." He added, feeling a need to explain his ways. "And before you ask, to me, Rogue is very dear indeed."
After another moment of silence, he went on. "Mitsurugi, what was it that first compelled you to take up a weapon?"
Ammy smiled brightly as Rogue started spinning, continuing for a short time, before pushing moving back a little and studying the girl as she spun.
She was very happy with today, she now had two great paintings to make from it...now if only she could get a third. Her eyes drifted to Mitsurugi for a moment, before a smirk replaced her smile; but quickly as it had happened, the smile retook the smirk, and she was back to spinning in the snow with Rogue.

Mitsurugi paused "I don't remember much about it, the more I think about it the hazier it gets..." He started with an all too familiar phrase in the town. "There had been war and torment for many years, but even then it couldn't have been predicted." He clenched his fists tight as his gaze left the girls.
"I lost the two most important people to me. I was too weak to save them."
He turned his head slightly to face the bluenette, his eyes cold with seriousness and a hint of guilt. "I will not let that happen again."
Rogue continued spinning. Winter was fun, as long as she was bundled up to secure her warmth. She had noticed the pause in the other girls' actions but simply brushed it off- not out of rudeness but respect.
As Ammy joined her again, Rogue moved to stop and say something. However thanks to inertia while Rogue's body stopped spinning, her head didn't and she ended up slipping on the ground beneath her. As soon as she had registered what had happened she released a round of giggles.

"I see." Was all Serge said in reply to the answer, and had quickly there after made move to Rogue, to help the girl up, and soo that she was ok.
She'd be the one her laughed even when hurt after all. "Have a little too much fun there Rogue?" He asked with a smile as he held out a hand to her.
Ammy paused again in her spins as Rogue slipped. Looking slightly worried at the girl before she heard the giggles. With a smile she watched Serge come up, and hold out his hand to her.
She knew her brother liked Rogue, he talked about her a lot after all. Their dad had called it puppy love, said all most kids wind up with a case or two of it. She still thought it was cute, regardless.
Glancing about, she made sure no attention was on her, before bending down and collecting as much snow as she quickly could from the ground; packing it into a fluffy white ball. Glancing about once more to make sure she was still unseen, she turned toward Mitsurugi, and tossed the snow ball with a quick flick of her wrist, a mischievous grin claiming her face.

Rogue quickly took Serges offer of help and quickly got up before shrugging away his words. "Too much fun? Y'er talkin' crazy, there's no such thing!" The look on her face was so cleverly innocent that any trusting person might actually be persuaded of her words.
"An' now Ah just have to prove it," The innocence began to melt away as a grin took its place. Still holding Serges' hand, she led him a short distance away to where where was a nice patch of untouched snow.
"Let's make snow angels!"
Mitsurugi had hardly moved before Serge was over by Rogue to help her up. Of all the friends to make, he might have to approve of this one. Not exactly what he expected, but he wasn't disappointed either. With a friend like Serge, perhaps Mitsurugi could finally work on-
His thoughts were interrupted as cold hit him in the shoulder. He looked down to see the remnants of a snowball falling to the ground and quirked an eyebrow as his eyes sought out the little wolf girl. Upon seeing her expression he couldn't help but grin himself. He grabbed two bundles of snow, one in each hand, and with the way he took a few steps forward and stopped- his body language was just asking to be hit again. And if she took the bait, he had a plan of his own.
