The golden lionesses paws fell across the dusty floor, breathing somewhat sharp in her awkward position. She couldnt sleep, she didnt even know why she was bothering to try, her mind was clouded with the prospect of seeing Amari again. But she didnt know when, where? He pulled herself upright and cast her sapphire optics to the floor. A lone insect scurried across. The tumbleweed in Maawios quiet life. Ever since the death of her mother, she had become a somewhat stronger character, although was still hurt easily.
She reached to look behind her, into the small crook where her mother used to perch upon, often critisizing Maawios behavior, or anything in general. She now knew what it felt like to be free, but like any child would, found herself missing her mother, just the small things, not the whole "impressing the king" act. It was a load of rubbish, Maawio wasnt going to fake herself.
Padding outside, she reached a small peak and sat, gazing at those stars, wondering which one was her mother, and wondering if it were wise to ask for advice...

She wasn't the only one watching the stars that night.
A lone male lion sat on the flat of a smooth, large stone that jutted up out of an ocean of dried grass. The moonlight glittered in the rims of his eyes and cast a gentle cascade rippling along the rusty coat. For once he had taken the time to groom himself into a suitable manner - his mane free from twigs and leaves and his coat shining from lack of dust.
Once again it seemed his adventures had led him here. To the place where his heart belonged. Somewhere around was his beloved and he would find her and be with her once more.
Thumping his tail against the stone he was sitting upon he gave a small huff and leapt down onto the ground, padding through the grass with piercing gaze directed ahead.
I love her...so why do I keep leaving her? He thought to himself, eyes lowering to trace the dusty path beneath his paws. Why can I not just remain here? What do I think I will accomplish being out there in the big world? He shook his head slowly, eyes closing as he let out a shuddering breath. Nothing made sense, nothing. The only thing that made sense was his love for the golden pridelander whose eyes he craved to look into.
Her den. He knew it was around here somewhere, and her sweet scent lingered all around, teasing him with it's light perfume. With not a moment to lose he parted his jaws, ivory teeth gleaming in the moonlight as he roared a greeting.

Even though Maawio was certain she was not asleep, as she could failed to earlier. She felt as if she was in a dream, was it him, was it? Or was it someone else? She tried not to be too hopeful... She turned around slowly. Her mouth opening to show points of her ivory teeth. It couldnt be? But it was! She felt her own eyes light up and bounded towards him. "Amari." She said softly into his neck as she gave him a loving nuzzle, and a lick. She had found happiness once more.
Her days of boredom had finally led onto something else. The loss of social contact with Mahiri and Sukutu meant Maawio didnt find herself talking to many creatures, she hadnt even seen Mataka, the active little pup. She turned back up to Amari, not wanting to turn away for even the slightest second. "I love you"

He smiled down at her, finding himself drowning in the beautiful pools of her moonlit eyes. They were more precious than an oasis in the desert, more perfect than polished gems, and he found himself enchanted by them.
He moved his head lower, pressing his nose against hers in an affectionate gesture and purred his contentment. "I love you too, forever and ever." This much was the truth and he wanted her to know it. "I''m sorry I''ve been gone so long, I''ve been...to the jungle." He lowered his ears and pressed his face into the curve of her neck. "Are you okay?"
He felt so happy to be with her again, the softness of her fur against his, the warmth of her breath. Nothing could be more perfect than just being in her presence. Oh how he loved her!

She wanted to stay in his embrace forever. He was so warm, and just so handsome. She was short of breath everytime she saw him, he never failed to amaze her, in his ways and looks, she nuzzled into his small mane, smiling warmly.
"Im fine, its been a little boring, but im very happy to see you." She released a long purr. "How are you?" She saw all the stars light, felt all the suns warmth, but this was the only thing, or creature, she wished to see. She wouldnt give this moment, or Amari, up for the world, She loved him so much, never had she felt like this before, never had her mind been so filled with the image, thoughts and voice of one lion.

"I'm okay, just tired." He spoke softly, nuzzling against her. "I missed you so much, 'specially when I saw Asikari being followed by all his girls. You should see him Maawio, he's got his own little pride of females following him about like a herd of antelope." He chuckled into her fur.
"Have you not seen many around lately? Bakhti is usually in the area I thought. I've been meaning to catch up with that sister of mine." He purred, and moved to sit beside her, side pressed closely against hers. "I heard that she found herself a male."

Her smile did not leave her face, her eyes showing her true happiness that she hadnt felt for a while now. "I missed you too, Amari." She giggled at his Asikari comment. "Really? I didnt think he was one for female obsession" She said lightly.
"No, i havent really seen many, just been doing the same old thing most days, eat, sleep, laze about." She murmured quietly. "Yeah, It would be great to see Bakhti again." She paused. "She found herself a male? Aww thats great." She smiled sweetly.

He nuzzled her once more, relaxing his usually tense muscles and enjoying the rhythmic sound of her voice. Such a gentle and kind soul she was, a secret goddess with wings only he could see. Perfect.
"He didn't appreciate the teasing much I can tell you that, but I think he enjoys their company despite what he says." Asikari was a strange type indeed.
"I'm glad Bakhti finally moved on from Sukutu, I was really worried about her for a moment there, glad things have picked up in her life now. Talking of that brother of yours, I met him briefly the other day, he's a huge lion now and looking really well." He was glad he could bring Maawio news of her brother.

She grinned, relaxing herself next to him also, letting out a content purr. "Yes, he is a pretty strange lion." She stopped, remembering when Amari tried to fight him. "Hmm, well at least you arent trying to kill him anymore." She said with some humor, trying to keep her voice even.
"Really?" She asked. "Well, i would imagine so, it has been rather a while since we saw each other, I wonder how his journey went. But im glad Bakhti has moved on, I didnt want her to get hurt or anything."

He remembered that fight all too well...it had been the day when he had almost lost Maawio because of his foolishness, his male pride injured by that teasing male. He had ignored Maawio and continued to try and fight Asi despite everything. He had been wounded physically and mentally that day, and although he was still a little dominant over males his behaviour had definately improved. "I'm glad we sorted things out, he's strange but he isn't a bad lion, he's just had a tough time of it is all. Bakhti doesn't like him much though." He wrinkled his nose and exhaled noisily.
"I didn't speak with Suku to know too much, but he seemed happy enough so I assume it went well...I wonder when he'll return. He's one of the few males I can put up with."
He moved his head and rasped his tongue along her closest shoulder, fur glinting almost white under the rays of the moon. The temperature had cooled down quite a lot and after a moment he stood, and took a step forwards. "Want to go for a walk or something?"

She found her sweet smile once more. "Yes, I find Sukutu to be more than tolerable." Her smile widened, showing the peaks of ivory teeth. "Sure, where to? Or do you want to lead the way?" She asked. Her eyes were darker now, but the moonlight showing the sapphire in them, and the happiness all the same. She pulled herself up unsteadily, flicking the dust of her brown tufted tail.

"Doesn't really matter too much where to as long as I'm with you." He said smoothly, moving closer to her side and catching his tail around hers in a gentle lock. Moving to press his nose against hers in a lion-kiss he moved slowly through the grass, feeling strangely warm despite the cool temperature. She seemed to have that affect on him.
"I never noticed how different the stars could look in different places. From here they seem like jewels...from the South lands they look like fireflies - less distinct in shape." He turned to gaze at her, seeing those same stars reflected in her eyes.
"They look nicer here."
And with that the gloom of the night shrouded the pair in mystery and kept them from being seen by spying eyes.
