in the interests of the parts of my brain completely devoted to classic rock i've decided to add this thread,,,,,, and i already did Led Zeppelin so i guess Pink Floyd should be next,,,,,,

anyone who's ever listened to Pink Floyd knows that the music is, for lack of a better phrase, trippy as hell,,,,,, a style of music designed to stimulate the psyche which is why Pink Floyd falls into the specific category of psychedelic rock,,,,,, soft, haunting vocals,,,,, sometimes critcal shouts,,,,, sometimes melodious and sometimes chaotic guitar and percussions,,,,,, an almost ghastly sound track played in the background or in the intros,,,,,, lyrics that make no earthly sense but somehow never seem lacking for depth,,,,, all the above forms my opinion of Pink Floyd,,,, now i'm curious to see all of your opinions as well as favourite songs

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn never ceases to amaze me, as far as Syd goes. Or anything else they did, for that matter. Except maybe The Division Bell.

I have an amazing bootleg of The Man & The Journey live in Amsterdam.Maybe five bars of singing in the entire two hour show, and all songs that have never been released for the general public. It brings delight to my heart. The instrumental work they do is simply gorgeous. The song Doing It! makes me giggle whenever I hear the title. x3

That's how I did it. I mean... *cough* I attained it from a totally legal source. Must've slipped my mind. How silly of me.

(I'm not sure how easily found it is, I got mine from an extremely elite torrent site, and I saw a few of the bootlegs popping up on Soulseek but yeah, if you're really interested, I might be able to hook you up.)

Back on a much more legal topic:

Be Careful With That Axe Eugene always scares me...

The fact I can sing that song is somewhat sad.

The Wall is great. I've found that I actually like it more in the context of the movie, for whatever reason. And certain tracks, especially the more acoustic tracks (Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky) are absolutely beautiful.

Nice. I can't remember mine. Let's see here... I was into Alice pretty hard, but before that I was into Metal. Wasn't Metallica... becuase that was after Alice... Hrm, Most of the stuff I ever wanted to listen to my dad already owned on Casette. Hmm, it was probably Tenacious D.

I remember I bought Dark Side at a Walmart in the middle of a blinding rainstorm. Oh man, that was insane. My aunt and I were driving across the state and had to pull over because of the rain. So we went in, bought the album and two pairs of sunglasses, and started driving again with it turned up at full volume.

Best Dark Side listening ever.

It's such a great rain album.
