I'M WONDERING WHY THE DOCTOR TOOK HER ON.
They have a bit of fun with that in the novels.
Since, at the end of the Trial the Sixth Doctor is left knowing two things about his future - he will become the Valeyard and he will acquire Mel as a companion, then he associates the two and does everything he can
to avoid ever meeting Mel.
To be fair though, I love Mel in the audios now that Bonnie Langford has calmed down and that she's not having to read from Pip'n'Jane Baker scripts.

My mom can't watch the originals. She finds them to be too campy. (granted watching the mummy droids kill the hunter looked rather silly.) Though I'm wondering if...well... is the guy that played Brigendere (spelling) still alive? From what I've heard his character has met with up to 8 through the radio broadcast. He missed Nine. If he is still around I think it would be cool for them to bring him in.
He's never met the Eighth in a
made-for-radio story, but has done in both the Eighth's first original novel and in an audio that eventually got a BBC7 transmission.
Talking of missing the Ninth, it occured to me today that the Fifth Doctor has met
every other Doctor except the Fourth and Ninth.
He meets the First, Second and Third in
The Five Doctors. He meets the Seventh in
Cold Fusion and again, alongside the Sixth, in
The Sirens of Time. Then he meets the Eighth in
The Eight Doctors and the Tenth in
Time Crash.
That's Eight out of Ten, tying him with the Eighth Doctor, but giving him the moral advantage since he didn't meet them all in a really shitty novel.
Someone needs to write a Four/Five/Nine team-up so he can complete the set.
