Bedlam is a small town in the middle of Nowhere, USA. It’s been there for over a thousand years. It’s a fairly close-knit community. It’s got a high school, and all the regular buildings and jobs a small town would have. The only thing is, Bedlam isn’t normal, by anyone’s standards. There are two types of people living there; vampires and werewolves.
Over time, humans have managed to move to Bedlam, but not easily… anyone who wants to buy land or a house there finds it extremely difficult, because the town owns both. If a human has managed to get there, one of two things happens: they either die a mysterious, unexplainable death that never gets reported, or they’re given a choice to become either a were or a vamp. In a thousand years, only two humans have been given the second option.
One day, an old vampire by the name of Corvus disappeared. He had been a recluse, shunned by society due to past crimes, so no one thought much of his absence. After all, no one saw much of him anyway. It was largely ignored until one day, a large RV, followed by a small car, pulled up front of his house, smiling and happy. They were ready to move into their new home, bought from a Mr. Corvus, whereabouts unknown. The family consisted of a father, mother, and female triplets, the last now enrolled in the local high school with the non-human children.
Oh, dear. Hallo~ This one-on-one Rp is based on a story I'm writing, and I wanted to turn it into a roleplay. I'm not going to give you very much info, because it'll come out in the roleplay (of course, if you want to read the story, just ask and I'll give you a link to where it's posted). Literacy (meaning, grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation) is a must. Post length has nothing to do with it, although longer posts are definitely appreciated. But here's some basics;; The youngest triplet (11th grade, age 17) goes out walking and gets attacked by a group of vampires. Her romantic interest, an eight-hundred and seventy-two year old vampire named Lael Dara (played by me) saves her. A mark that looks like a burn shows up on their left palms, meaning they're mated. Lael falls in love with her on sight because she's his Beloved. He also ends up being her teacher, so she can't avoid him. This roleplay starts right before she's attacked and they meet. Character: Lael Dara Username: nEOROTIC_nARCOTik Physical description: Lael stands at six feet six inches tall, with a slim, though large build. He's strong, but without an overly muscular pyysique; well defined, not bulky. His hair is dark brown, straight with a small amount of wave making it curl in around his face, and falls almost to his shoulders. He has melting-chocolate eyes, that darken to black with anger or sadness, but lighten to an oak/goldish colour with happiness or desire. Face: angular, with high, sharp cheek bones and a blade-straight nose, mouth that tends to tilt upwards at the nds, and of course, sharp canine teeth about 3/4 of an inch long. Light dusting of freckles, only visible on close inspection. His skin is not pale, rather a light shade of tan, making them hard to see. Small silver cross in right ear, followed by a tiny silver stud. Left eyebrow pierced. Wireframe glasses with small rectangular lenses, rarely worn; he uses contact lenses. Average dress: black. Black jeans, black/white t-shirts, both long and short sleeved, worn-in leather jacket, biker boots. Noteable feature: his hands. Large, rectangular shape, long, blunt fingers with well-kept, short nails. Lightly calloused palms mean rougher skin. Actual age is 872, but appears to be around twenty years old.
Character: Rosaline Anderson Username: Xlady-OpheliaX Physical description: Long (breast length), wavy, dark brown hair thats in layers and greenish, blue eyes. Stands at 5'2" but is slender, about 115 ibs, with Soft facial features and is slightly pale. She usually has a bruise somewhere from tripping. Average dress: Black jeans (usually the kind with chains hanging from the back.), t-shirts or v cut long sleeve shirts, black converse, and a black scarf. She somtimes wears a skirt when the mood strikes but always wears stockings underneath (usually striped). Noteable feature: Though her eyes are normally a teal color they occasionally turn into blue (its subtle).

Rosaline stared at the light blue walls of her new room. She had just finished unpacking everything and was looking for ways to kill time before dinner, which turns out would be running late tonight due to the move. Her gaze shifted to the window and the fading sunlight, and she decided to explore the town. Rosaline grabbed a coat and her scarf and headed out the door, calling to her mother that she would be home in a while.
Rosaline passed a few other teenagers on her walk but something about them sent a chill down her spine and her gut told her to run, but she kept her composure. It was a fairly small town, well, at least compared to her home town it was. She stopped in her tracks when she ran across an old playground, it a town so unusual she needed something comforting and familer so she sat down on the swings and began to swing gently.

Lael gazed out the window blankly, deep in though. The fingers of his left hand absently tugged at his ear lobe as he frowned at the darkness gathering outside. Hours before, he had felt the strange itch begin at the center of his palm; it had begun as a small tingle, but had steadily increased until it was a constant annoyance. He didn't know what it meant for sure, but he suspected, and that really pissed him off.
He shoved himself away from the cluttered desk and started pacing the room. Who was it? Surely none of the women in town; if it had been, then he would have already known by then. The thought crossed Lael's mind that it could be one of the newly come humans, but he quickly dismissed that thought as preposterous. No vampire he'd ever known had been mated to a human. He highly doubted if it was even possible. Lael paused; still, it would be best to find out. Grabbing his jacket, Lael headed to the front door. If none of the humans was his mate, then he would know emmediately, and no harm would be done. But if one of them were..? God help them all.

As Rosaline was swinging she heard a few twigs snap, as if someone were near. She jumped out of the swing and fear pounded in her heart as she looked around franticly. "Hello?" She called out, her voice trembling slightly. Suddenly a group of four people appeared from around the park, three guys and a girl. Rosaline willed her legs to move, to run but they seemed fixed to the spot where she stood. One of the guys, an older looking one, hissed at her. Her eyes widened and she opened her mouth to scream but before a sound could escape the female had her hands around Rosaline's mouth.

The streets were deserted; there were no people anywhere, and while that wasn't exactly unusual in Bedlam, Lael found it odd. He ambled down the street for a few minutes until he reached an ally. On the other end were some trees, and beyond that, a playground; but that's not what caught his attention. The itching had grown stronger again, and the entoxicatingly sweet smell of unspilt blood was coming from that direction. Definitely one of the humans. Lael smiled, forming a plan: he would go talk to the human, and if she wasn't the one, he would offer to escort her home, where he would possibly be able to meet the others. Down the ally he went, his hands in his pockets.

Rosaline tried to scream but the woman's hands over her mouth muffled it so much that no one would hear. The three men approached her, sniffing the air and licking their lips. Her heart thundered in her chest and panic caused her knees to quiver. One of the men pulled off her scarf and ran an icy cold fingernail along the base of her neck, drawing blood. Suddenly the rest of them became feral and wild looking. Oh god I'm going to die. Rosaline screamed silently in her head and began to kick at the derranged looking men.

When he got to the playground, the noises of struggling hit him before the sight of the human girl did. When his eyes did hit upon the group holding her, and then finally on the actual human herself, his hand seemed to catch fire. The girl was definitely his mate. Lael bared his teeth in a silent snarl. How dare they touch her? A fierce need to protect her rose in him, and a moment later, he'd launched himself at the group, knocking some of the males away. A few of them obviously recognized him and didn't return the attack. The ones who did would be dealt with after Lael had freed his female. He turned on the woman holding the girl with a glare and bared his fangs. "I would let go of her if I were you."

The woman hissed but backed away, obviously intimitaded by Lael. Rosaline fell to the ground, her knees giving way. A sharp burning began in her left palm and she inhaled quickly, grabbing it with her right hand. She wanted to run screaming but something about the new man calmed rather than frighten her.
One of the younger more ignorant males ran at Lael with claws extended and fangs bared.

Lael simply raised a leg and kicked the other in the chest, knocking him off-course: it was easy, as the attacker was far younger, and therefore weaker, than him. "Stupid young one. Let the adults have their fun, then I promise you can join in, kiddo." He said sarcastically, picking up a rock. He tossed it into the air once, testing it's weight, then threw it at the one who had been stupid enough to try and confront him in his present mood. The rock hit the other squarely in the forehead, and down he went. One of the others made a move like he was going to try something as well, but Lael narrowed his eyes at him as he (Lael) walked over to Rosaline. Gently, he wrapped a hand around her arm and pulled her to her feet, resisting the urge to check if she was alright. Instead, he grabbed her left hand and moved it so he could see; a second later, he shrugged and looked back at the others. He raised both his hand and hers so the matching marks were clearly displayed. "Touch her again, and you are dead."
Silence. Lael's eyes moved over the group; they just stood there in shock. Lael took the opportunity to get out of there. His mate still seemed shaky at best, so without waiting to see of she could walk or not, he picked her up and carried her, bridal style, out of the playground.

Rosaline stared up at Lael and suddenly felt entranced by his eyes and it took a great amount of will for her to look away. She was thankful for being carried, sure that she would never be able to walk at the moment if she tried. A small trickle of blood oozed from the base of her neck where the man had scratched her so she wrapped her scarf back around her neck, pressing the fabric agaisnt the cut.
Rosaline felt such an overwhelming calm in the strange mans arms that she felt as if she would fall asleep if it werent for the burning in her hand, though that was slowly fading. She rested her head against his chest feeling drowsy. "Thank you, you saved me." She muttered sleepily.

"And what else would I have done? Let you stay there to be mauled by those bast-... animals?" Lael shook his head, trying not to stare at her neck. The smell of her blood was getting to him. He stopped walking and briefly closed his eyes for a moment before striding off in the other direction. "I will treat your cut. You are not hurt elsewhere?" The small structure of his house loomed closer. Lael set her down for a moment to open the door, but he didn't completely release her; one arm went around her waist to prop her up, and once the door was open, he picked her up again.

"It's not needed." Rosaline said softly, fighting to stay awake, "I'll just tell my mom I fell. Mom! I need to get home..." Her mind raced with questions unspoken. What happened? What were those things exactly? Would they come back? Why was her hand burning and why did she feel strangely attracted to this stranger? She decided to ask him one of the more basic questions racing through her mind. "Who are you?"

"My name is Lael. And yours would be..?" he was aware that his answer didn't really tell her who he was, but it was probably best to leave it at that for now. No need to tell her about anything else just yet; he would let her get over the attack, first. "The cut could become infected, and while that is not fatal, it would cause uneccessary discomfort." He frowned. The idea of her being uncomfortable for any reason bothered him. "It will only take a moment, anyway."

"Rosaline Anderson. Charmed." She said with a small laugh and a smile, deciding to let him bandage her neck. She was still in shock that the attack happened so, to someone else, she seemed very passive. "Why did you show those people my palm?" She asked with one eyebrow raised. If they were people. She thought to herself. What was going on with this town?

Lael sighed; why couldn't she be one of those silly humans that never noticed anything? "Well," He began, then stopped, unsure of how to answer the question. He couldn't just come out and say, 'Well, I am a vampire, Rosaline, and you are my mate, the one the Fates chose as my Beloved. I showed them your hand because I wanted them to see the sign on it marking us as mates, so they would not kill you.' Yes, that would do nicely... if he wanted her to mace him and run away. "Did I?" When in doubt, feign innocence or memory loss. "I do not remember. I suppose I must have had a reason, though.." If there was one thing he was not, it was a good liar. Lael put her down on a chair in the kitchen, then grabbed a small medical kit kept on the counter.
{( o.O That's totally okay. Are you alright? )}
