And so begins some artwork.

This one was my original. He turned out well, minus some anatomy problems. Meh, oh well. Most of all though, I like his hands ^^

This one was a Birthday Present for a good friend of mine on the DeviantArt site. When she got it, she absolutely LOVED it like crazy, so to me, this drawing is perfect, regardless of what anyone says ^^

These and all of my other drawings can be found on my DA, which is

Porportion wont be so hard when I can get it down really

What do you mean by pencil techniques? confused
PostPosted: Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:36 pm

Pencil techniques (comes with tons of practice): Straight lines, curves, line thickness/thinness, sometimes placement but that's more so under technique. It's all basically how you hold the pencil, if you grip it too hard your lines come out straight, but too thick, if you grip it too loose your lines are wavy and light. Nyaoo...too many years spent in art class. whee TJ = art class = 12 years.

Those are nifty. ^_^

I only have the basics of pencil techniques down, myself. I only really started drawing people when I was thirteen, and I didn't practice much until a few months ago. n_n;;

I can take criticism, ya know wink

And yes, I know they are badly....Anatomized, but I don't have an anatomy book, so you know.

If you're not going to read this, at least click some links and look at the circle-y stick people. They are very helpful for the human figure. Except for maybe that statue of David, it's safe for the small children.

You don't need an anatomy book. Look at a picture of a person. Probably someone in a static pose. Standing straight, maybe. Draw him. Practice that sort of thing. Draw movement when you get used to proportions. And don't sacrifice proportions for style. In other words, manga/anime is not a good thing to start with. Start with realism to get an idea of how to draw anime people. It's just more natural that way. Most little kids don't start off by drawing pictures of their family in Sailor Moon style. Professionals don't, either.

Also, starting with realism (don't worry about how frustrating it is 'cause people are hard to draw) can help you develop your own style. Unique drawings are almost always way more appealing to me than someone who decided to draw anime 'cause he thought it looked cool or everyone else was doing it. ...Unless you are reeeally good at it. Then I'll forgive you.

Chibi is cute, but impractical.

Seriously, draw real people, even if it's hard. Here's something that might possible be helpful. I don't know. Didn't read much of it. http://www.bakaneko.com/howto/figure/anatomy2/index.html

Try this; it's confusing, but the best I can find so far for the circle thing. When people are eight heads tall or whatever. Scroll about halfway down for the pictures of the stick person and scroll up a little for instructions

This one's pretty nice: http://cedarseed.deviantart.com/art/Big-Guide-to-Drawing-the-Body-15014442

More fun DA stuff:

http://crazy-fae.deviantart.com/art/Body-Proportions-Tutorial-12388918

Keep up the good work and don't make any more excuses. Nobody's perfect, and practice makes slightly less than perfect. No, seriously, you're doing pretty well.

If you need faces or some other thing (I have a hard time with heads), I can always search for stuff for you.

Thanks Deno! One of those tutorials made me feel REALLY stupid, because it kinda told me how I am currently drawing. Although, I don't see what's so bad about using references, since I may not know how to draw something.

@Ginhi: Glad you like it^^ I am very pleased with it razz Even if he came out girly...

Nyao. -^.^- Deno is right, the only way to learn how to draw well is to draw real humans, otherwise the character looks awkward in their clothes and body positions.
