When I came back from my "extended hiatus", I noticed there were quite a bit of threads asking the same question:
"How do I become a moderator?"
"How do I 'level up' in the guild?"
Yeah, you get the point. I just thought it'd be useful to have a handy little FAQ so people don't needlessly repost the same question. surprised
This "moderator" position? Care to elaborate?
As a moderator in the Hardcore System of a Down guild, you'll get to do such fun tasks as cleaning up the messes of people who needlessly post threads over and over again, creating the forums and coming up with ideas to keep every interested in our guild, doing very simple BB code to come up with layouts for the guild's homepage, managing the Dajosesh account, (Which we need to trust you with, I might add. Washu and I spent a good deal of our time and money painstakingly arranging him outfits like the psychotic little fangirls we are) banning people who can't take hints and follow rules and finally, we have to deal with assholes who just can't understand why they were kicked out of the guild in the first place. With "power" (if you can call it that) comes great, tedious responsibilities. Please take this into consideration before even thinking about posting a thread publicly declaring your desire to be moderator. Which brings me to my next point:
"Can I post a thread to let you guys know I'm interested?"
Frankly, we'd rather you didn't. This forum is difficult to keep clean to begin with and the endless posting of empty moderator position requests just simply doesn't appeal to us. It makes you seem like you have a superiority complex and just want to leave a big impression on is. Yeah, like we're impressed that you can hit "Submit Post" after typing a long, begging text chunk that consists mainly of ones and exclamation points.
"Hey, you're kind of mean about it. Do you play favorites too?"
Well, be glad I'm not the guild's captain anymore. smile In regards to "playing favorites", I guess we all do it to some extent since we're human. What I'm saying is we're more likely to promote someone if they're courteous, show initiative and don't seem likely to abuse what power they get as opposed to some boisterous internet tough guy who only kisses our asses to get a "seat of power". Simply put, we don't play favorites but we take your attitude into consideration.
"BUT I KNO SO MUCH ABUT SOAD!11!! Y NOT U LET ME B MOD?!1!"
Ah, yes. This brings back memories. Not to seem prejudice but we're not going to even consider allowing you to be a moderator if you
1. Type like English is not your native language. We consider good grammar and spelling a plus here.
2. You claim to know "so much about soad" or that "you're their number one fan". Play that attitude off and you can pretty much write yourself off as a contender.
"Can I be a moderator?"
Well, it depends on how and when you ask us. If you ask us flat out, randomly PM us or post a thread then the answer is definitely going to be a No.
Gain our trust, show responsibility and initiative, be courteous to EVERYONE, (don't just kiss our asses. we want to see if you're leadership material) don't exhibit any of the aforementioned behaviors...
... and you just might become a moderator for the Hardcore System of a Down guild. heart
