Alex walked into the city looking at all of the ruined buildings. Alex entered one and looked around. The roof was still barely there. Alex looked down at the ground and jumped back a bit. About 5 skeletons worth of bones lay on the floor. This city must have a long history. Alex examined a skull careful not to break it. It appeared as though something like an arrow or spear had crashed in through one side of the skull. Alex set the skull down and walked out of the building. He looked at the looming ziggurat in the middle of the city. It stood there for centuries and yet it still looks as if it was built yesterday. Alex decided to go in...

Alex finally got to the top of the stairs. He looked at the ancient markings around the entrance. They didnt even look familiar. They were something like cuneiform and hyroglyphs combined. When Alex walked in though there was a new kind of writing. This was pictures. On the inside there would be a picture of what happened and then the writing underneath. Now this Alex could try to understand. This story told of how they made the ziggurat for their god. Their god supposedly still lived and they made him their king. Alex continued to walk inside the temple. Then he got to an area with a table. On the table were something like offerings. Some gold, silk, wine, and wait that cant be... An ancient head that hadnt rotted yet. Then behind the table was a throne. Alex looked at the markings on it. It appeared as if it was a warning not to sit in it. Alex saw a picture of a man walking up and sitting in it. Then the next picture some kind of beast was ripping the man apart... Alex continued to walk around the throne and saw the fabled staircase that few people knew of. Blood stains were on the top of the staircase and on the few stairs you could see. There were a couple other areas near the stairs that had the blood stains on it. There was a stone pillar with a book in it next to the staircase. The book had more pictures that described the stair case and what would happen if you go in: The stair case held something. Something like a secret that could make your life better. Then it showed a man reading the book then going down the stair case. He came out with a glow around him. Then the same beast from the throne jumped out and killed him as soon as he started to talk to someone... Alex didnt know if he should go down. Did this beast know about vampires and how to kill them. If it didnt he should be perfectly safe. But if it did...

Alex continued to walk down the stairs but careful to be in the middle so he doesnt fall of the edge. He stepped down onto a square platform with the rest of the stairs on the others side. It kinda looked like a dueling platform. Alex hoped he was wrong. But of course he was right. As soon as Alex took a step to the stairs, two people appeared. One did not wear a shirt but had many markings on his chest. He held two katanas and had what looked like a bow strapped to his back. The other one wore a golden robe with a black necklace on. He held nothing in his hands. The first person ran at Alex, katanas raised. Alex side stepped the blow from the katanas and kicked the person hard in the head. The warrior went flying into the air. He hit the edge and fell off of the platform. Then the person who looked like a preist stepped forward. Then without warning, Alex was shot back onto the stairs. This preist knew his magic. Alex ran around the platform dodging his attacks but going in a spiral so he got closer to the preist. He then jumped up and slammed his foot into the preists head. The preist went flying off the platform. Alex stood up and walked down the stairs. Then as he took a step it felt like his foot pressed a button. It had hit the wrong stone and sunk the stair into the ground. Alex jumped down about 10 steps only to see that the step he had been on was then nailed with a spear. Alex ran now running as darts wizzed past his head. Alex jumped out of the way as a boulder almost crushed him. He then took a corner and continued down the steps. The steps behind him started to crumbled and fall apart. Alex ran trying not to fall onto a crumbling step. The steps that crumbled fell into the dark unknown. Alex ran and ran and walked into a corridor. He wasnt on stairs anymore but somethin worse happened. Stone doors slammed shut where he had come in through. Then right in front of the doors spears jutted out of the walls nearby and made a trap that would murder the man imbetween. In this corridor alone it appeared that there were many skeletons. Alex ran through the corridors as more spears jutted from the walls behind him. Then he ducked as fire shot out of the wall right above him. He continued to run through many traps. Alex had begun to think he had made the wrong decision by coming down here. Finally he ran out into a room. More picture writings were on the wall. He began to read it. Then he walked into the next room. Small stairs walked into a pool like area in the middle. Pillars suround the pool with the face of some beast made out of stone hanging on them. On the wall opposite Alex was a bigger head. Alex walked down the steps and into the pool area. The mouth of the heads opened and something red poured out. The red liquid poured down the stairs on the opposite side and from the pillars next to the pool. The red liquid poured into the pool like area where Alex stood. Alex felt the liquid with his hands. It was think and red like another substance Alex knew and liked, blood. Obviously these people had never heard of a vampire before. As the blood level raised higher and higher Alex dipped down and drank alot of the blood. He sunk his head in and practically inhaled as much blood as he could. Then when he sat up he saw something. A skeleton stood out of the blood. The blood rose into the air and clinged to the skeleton forming his skin and flesh. More skeletons came up and the blood made them look alive again. One was another preist. But then he turned into a blood red demon. A blood Demon. This is going to be fun...

The creatures dunked into the blood dissappearing. Then blood rose up from the pool behind Alex and formed into one of the creatures. Alex heard it before the beast tried to kill him. Alex swung around and bit into the throat of the creature as he shot five bullets through its chest. When he bit into the creature the neck turned to blood as it went into his mouth. Alex got a bit more than he had bargained for but that was fine with him. Alex kicked the head off of the creature. These things were easy to kill. Alex ran at another one that popped up behind him and punched right through it. He then dunked under the water and silently swam. He kept his mouth open so he could drink as much blood as possible. Bloodlust was coming over him. Then without warning the demon slammed Alex into the pool bottom and held him there. He held him there for about a minute. Alex thought silently to himself, These demons must not get out much. Seriously he probably doesnt know what a vampire is. He is trying to kill me by drowning me when I dont need to breath. Alex got tired and finally kicked the demon away. Then he shot through the water making waves as he slammed the demon against the wall. Alex shoved his hand into the demons stomach and the blood that covered the demon came off and ran onto his hand traveling up his arm into his mouth. Alex drank the blood until the demon was a skeleton again. Alex ripped the skeletons head off and slammed a cross from inside his jacket into it. That should keep it from turning back into that creature. Then Alex turned to the warrior creatures. In the blink of an eye he slayed them all. Alex then went under the blood and just inhaled the blood. This lasted about a five minutes. Then the blood level decreased as if it was draining. Alex then waded over to where the waterfall of blood had been and looked at the wall. There was a corridor that led more into the deep dark unknown. Alex ran into the corridor being careful to avoid all the traps. Alex walked into a room with a portal in the middle. Alex carefully began to read the writing on the walls. Then he knew what he had come for. Those demons hadnt manipulated blood just like that. They had studied the ancient magic that were concealed in this room. There were 5 magics and you could only study one. They were Fire, Darkness, Light, Transformation, and Blood. Alex walked over to the five rings that represented the five magics. Alex grabbed the blood red ring that emmited the eerie glow. He slid it on his finger and all of the sudden felt different. He felt more powerful now that he knew this ancient magic. Alex recited a spell and blood appeared in a bowl before him. Alex would like this. He drank from the bowl. Then he walked all the way back to the stairs. He looked up at the light ahead. The beast was waiting for him. And Alex was ready. Alex knew one of the dark secrets. But he knew that that portal was the second. He will come back after he takes care of the beast...

Then the beast started changing. no more fur. It was just a hard black skin. Wings sprouted from its back and shot out. Each wing was about 6 feet big. Then the thing stood up. It became more muscular and looked total demon. Then darkness swirled around it and seemed to make it stronger. Alex tried to get up and failed. The beast then picked him up and hit him in the stomach. Alex coughed up blood as he flew to the ziggurat wall. The whole wall cracked and Alex shot all the way through the wall and out into the city. Holy s**t. Alex landed on the ground, broken and bleeding. A piece of the ruins toppled over and broke next to Alex. The dust and debris rolled over Alex, covering him. There was a church back somewhere. Maybe this beast was like a demon and couldnt step into a church. If so, Alex had safety. And maybe the beast couldnt stand crosses. Maybe thats why the church wasnt in ruins...
