 "Maybe I'm just not good at this...Maybe I'll always be this way..." A lone mare spoke outloud to herself, being alone. The fact that she was alone was her topic of choise. She had been wandering the many fields ofthe land, looking for some company. Someone to talk too. Anyone. So far, she had only met a small crimson red stallion. That was it. No more. Even then they didn't talk to much. "Oh, I wish I wasn't so shy all the time!" The mare stamped her hoove into the partly frozen ground. He shyness often caused her to hide in the shadows of trees and such. She was making a hypocrite of herself! Wanting some attention yet hiding at the chance. What was the black mare to do?
The land she walked on seemed so dead, the leaves dulled to shades of brown. The trees were bare and lifeless. Tetra hated this time of year as everything was just so gloomy and alone, like herself. Snow would bring life back to everything, to the field she walked in. The sun just hide beyond the line of the land, settling in for the night moon to lite up the sky. The red markings seemed to glow in the fading light of the day. Every day at this time, Tetra felt more alone than ever.

Soaring in the skies, Axel decides to come back down to the real world. Everything seemed so surreal when he was flying. It was a refreshing feeling. The stallion heard something yelling nearby. Did he want to investigate or just ignore it? He paused slightly and then began to walk towards the mare. When she came into sight, Axel stopped. She seemed... upset, but he couldn't really comprehend emotions too well yet.
He didn't say anything but sort of followed her as she walked underneath the trees. "Hello there." He decided to call out and see what was wrong with her, not that he cared though.

The mare let out a scream when another voice spoke to her. She spun around to face the owner of the voice, red seeped through her black pelt. Someone had her her talking outloud to herself. How...Embarresing!!
The black mare took a tentive step back. Not only was their a stallion behind her, he wasn't like the other one she had seen before. This one had wings like a bird, tipped in a bright red. He wore some sorta black coat, to cover his peach fur? Did he not like the colour of his pelt? His mane was....Well, it looked a little funny to Tetra. It was spiky.
It was at this point Tetra relized she had been staring at him and quickly averted her eyes. What to say! She was getting neverous. "Hello...." Was the only thing she manged to say, softly and quietly. Could he even hear her? She felt her face flush red again...

Staring at her with glassy emerald eyes, Axel shuddered slightly at the scream. He didn't think he looked that bad... He continued to not say anything and just stare at her. What was with this mare? She seemed a little... skittish? Was that the word to describe her? He didn't know nor did he really care. "Uh what are you doing out here?" Raising a brow slightly, Axel noticed that they were deep in the forest. What would a mare, especially a timid one, be doing out here?

"I was just...Ummm...What I was doing was...I guess I was....." The mare seemed to be trying to find the right words, to no avail. Tetra looked back to Axel, hoping to find the answers she seeked, yet didn't find. He seemed...Emotionless. "I was just walking...Alone..." She finally stammered out having recovered from the first shock. "I...I could ask you the same." Tetra tried to keep the coversation going though she thought she seemed like a freak.

She definitely was an odd one. Axel had never met another soquili who stuttered or had a hard time picking their words. It was rather interesting though and this was probably the only reason why he was still talking to her. There were few things in this world that could keep Axel entertained for very long.
"I see. It doesn't matter where I go or what I do because I can take care of myself. Can you?" He raised his brow at her once more, feeling a more then a little skeptical about whether she could take care of herself or not. "Well it's not like matters but, I suggest you be careful... There are dangerous things in the forest." Shrugging slightly, again, it's not like Axel cared.

So cold....What was with this stallion? Tetra tried to think about it but Axel mentioned dangerous things. "Dangerous things? Like....Like what?" Tetra moved closer to the stallion to feel safer. Stallions often do that. "I've never heard of anything dangeerous here before." That was a lie. Tetra hadn't talked to anyone so she didn't really know what was in the forest.

"Dangerous things like kalonas and skinwalkers. Haven't you heard of them?" Axel had assumed that everybody had heard of them since talk of the evil creatures were ever so prominent since the skinwalker attacks. "There are a lot of them." As she moved closer to him, Axel took a small step away from her. He didn't want to get to close.

"Kalonas?....Skinwalkers?" Tetra canted her head. "What are those? Walking soq skins?" This was all new news to Tetra. She came to the land on Halloween...Was she scary? Tetra watched as the male backed up. How...Odd of him. Didn't males like to protect females because females needed it...Made them manly? She took a few steps closer to him.

Was she really that sheltered or something? "Kalonas are an evil type of soquili. I can't really generalize them but they usually are evil in nature. Skinwalkers are... hard to explain also but they're even more evil then Kalonas. They hate everybody and some of them are pretty aggressive." It was in Axel's nature to not want to get close to anybody. Slightly glaring at her, Axel took another few steps back. What was she doing? He didn't really like it.

Tetra canted her head to the other side. This boy was weird. "Oh well...How do you know this? Maybe they aren't all that bad...I mean...You can't be born heartless....I think." She'd have to pounder that later. "Well..I'll just hide if I see anything...Evil. I'm good at that." Tetra was becoming more comterble now...Mostly because she wasn't being judged. "I'm Tetra."

"I've been around for awhile. I've heard stories from my own herd since they like to talk a lot." Axel shrugged once more and observed her quietly. He didn't know how to explain this, not very well at least. "Uh. You can. A kalona that I'm acquainted with was named Heartless and she really lives up to her namesake." He just shrugged once more. "Hiding won't help you if you run into a particular nasty Kalona or a skinwalker." Once again he shrugged. "Axel," was all he could say.

Tetra was puzzled. How was that possible? Didn't you need a heart to live? She shook her head. "I don't understand...Doesn't one need a heart to live?" She paused for a moment to think about what it would feel like without a heart. "One must feel empty without a heart." Her mind was set on this mystery now.

Hm. She seemed a tad... naive. If that was the appropriate word, Axel really didn't feel like explaining the world to her but he seemed to be able to find a little more patience... "Uh. I don't mean that she doesn't have a heart. It's just... either a black hole or cold as ice." Axel shrugged once more unsure of how to explain it. He didn't like having to explain things... "Well, Heartless seems to be doing fine because she's found a companion of sorts and they've had foals. So I don't think it's that bad..." He knew because even though he wasn't like Heartless, he was very close...
