So I've had my acoustic-electric, which is a really good one actually, for a year and I've been playing it non-stop with a used peavey acoustic amp. Now my dad says since I've been really dedicated I'm finally getting my first electric and a new amp for my electric.
yay biggrin
Though I've been torn between several types of amps and electrics.
The Amp is the biggest problem, since I play anything from blues to classic rock to hard rock to heavy death metal I was thinking about getting a line 6 spider 3 amp. Then I started researching and was finding out it gives off a really digital sound, and I pretty much didn't want that for a whole year until I could get another amp. So now I'm thinking of getting a marshall 30 watt amp and getting a line 6 pocket pod for it.
The Guitar isn't such a big problem, its more like a nuisance to me. I already know that I either want a les paul or a strat. Which is either an Epiphone les paul studio, and epiphone les paul standard, or a Fender strat. The reason I would want a fender strat, I can reach the higher frets without stretching my hand xp
Though the sound that I can get with a les paul I just love.
Anyways anybodys opinions are appreciated

My suggestion:

Amp - check out the versatility available in the Line Six Spider Valve series. They won't give off the digital sound you're afraid of and I'm thinking they might even be affordable.

Guitar - Go with what sounds good. You can play Les Pauls just as well as any Strat, and don't let others convince you otherwise. It's all about how you play.

I wouldn't check out the Valve series. I've heard they're SERIOUSLY over-priced.

cant go wrong with a marshall or fender amp, but if you get a fender, get something more than a cheaper front man.

Do what I do, go to a music shop and try different combinations of guitars/amplifiers. Never overlook the cheap brands, sometimes they're the best. For example, I was scanning a music shop one day and I saw this guitar by the name of "Switch". It's an unknown company, but it's just simply amazing. The action is incredible, the pickups aren't anything special, I wanna drill the body and get some EMG's. But anyway, never overlook guitars. I am a Jackson fanboy though, so, buy a Jackson! mrgreen

Epiphone Les Paul Customs are great.
I can't help you with the amp though, I'm in the market for that myself.

Look into getting a Stagg. Noticeably cheaper than Fender, with about the same quality.
