I can’t even figure out who it was but someone at some point mentioned that they think DM’s should have characters. They said that it would be fun to be in a dungeon and RP alongside a DM. this is interesting, so what’s everyone else’s take on this?

This is something I have actually been thinking about. And by dm characters you mean something different then the standard 24 point starting chracter? You mean more along the lines of mentor characters that might fight now and again but for the most part are there to further the plot. Or by dm characters do you mean a physical representation of ourselves to hang out in the tavern and interact with the other characters?

I’m thinking an actual 24 point character that they play and advance just like everyone else. There would be rules of course, just like for acolytes. Me and GC have already walked into the tavern before and messed around with the players. We did it at the very beginning of the guild and I intend to do it more in the future when I’m not so busy. We just have a lot on our plates right now. Although we never did this for a quest or mini-game. That has always been reserved for characters. As long as you don’t count the sword of nine clouds event. But that was more of a special event then a mini-game.

Really, I don't see much of a problem with it. I mean if they follow the same rules as us, and they start their characters the same as us it's really nothing more than them wanting to be more involved in Gaia. Just a mule account for DM's, really.

((Hey, no problem. I'm glad to help. If you have anymore problems on creatures, I've got about thirty books worth of them. So just come talk!))
Unholy havoc? Peaceful land? Where do you live biggrin ? Were fighting monsters and impending doom on a 24/7 basis! Seriously though, I doubt that the DM's would do that...they wouldn't do that would they?

You never know. And hey... If this land is like that all the time... Imagine power crazed titans with the ability to shift the very fabric of reality, would do.
Wonder where that cam from?

I think it's a great idea for DM's to create characters, because not only will it be fun for them, but they will be able to get another point of view, and hopefully it will help them to DM better. I think perhaps that they shouldn't be allowed to partake in thier own dungeons though. It would be too easy to give themselves a benifit, though I think a lot would end up making it harder on themselves and killing themselves off just for fun. Either way I think the idea of DM's having characters would be a fun one.

Of course the DM's should have characters! How better to test out the game than to play it yourself!

Well as long as someone else creates their dungeons and their opportunities for items that is unbiased. Usually in my experience DM character's seem to always find better items and live longer. Though so far this is the fairest dungeoning I've seen so I'm positive its not a problem.
In conclusion I'm going to say yes, those guys need a break sometime too if they want.

I was the one who suggested it. I think it would be neat to see the DMs have a character of their own. It could help them get new ideas and help them figure out flaws, if there are any, in the battle system. Also we (the players), or at least I, would like to see the DMs in a dungeon battling by our side instead of always against us.
This also has another benefit. If a DM is in a quest or minigame and the other DM makes a mistake, the DM character could tell the DM who is running the game the mistake. This could be a good way to help the DMs who still are shaky with the battle system get a better grip on how it is ran. ^_^

what if they already do! eek
I've had my suspicions of DM Mules for a long time now... though i Can't pinpoint anything exactly, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Though I could be way off base... I used to think Bellamin was actually ye olde Grand Commander back when i first started...
