What Teams got in Superbowl this year? Patriots and Cowboys
PostPosted: Sat Nov 24, 2007 11:41 am

Anything can happen at any time...

...But at this point, my SuperBowl pick is the New England Patriots over the Dallas Cowboys.

Other teams that could pull upsets and make it are the Packers, Giants, Colts, Jaguars, Steelers, Seahawks, and the Chargers (if they finally get their act together).

Cowboys and the Patriots should be a even better game considering dallas has all the defense playing

If I had to pick as of right now, I would favor New England Patriots against the Green Bay Packers. Brett Favre is having a phenominal year. And though he doesn't have as great of weapons to throw too, he still has a very good receiving corp, and something Tony Romo lacks. Experience. Can Tony Romo shake off the blunder of last year? of course he will, but the question is when?

It took John Elway his entire career to get over his Superbowl missteps before finally winning them his last two seasons. Even Peyton Manning, despite his record setting plays in the regular season lacked post season sucsess for quite some time. Dallas has the talent, and are good enough to represent the NFC in the Superbowl, but my gut reaction says Green Bay is the most likely team to be there. Other NFC teams like Tampa Bay and NY Giants are playing tough, but only Green Bay and Dallas are playing like Superbowl representatives. The others come across as playoff contenders at best.

AFC wise. New England is the team to beat. And unless the Colts get healthy in time for a possible AFC championship rematch of O-so-many seasons, it's hard to say that the Patriots will fall, possible, but tough. Teams like Jacksonville are emerging as a possible underdog favorite. If Cleveland can improve their defense I might go as far as saying they have a legitimate shot. But the Colts, without Dwight Freeney, and possibly Marvin Harrison for the rest of the season, along with all the other injuries they've accumulated, It will be tough for them to win it all out. And if they do, it will be on crutches.

Superbowl prediction? Though nothing would be a better story book ending than seeing Brett Favre win his second Superbowl by overcoming powerhouse New England on his way to retirement, statistically I say the Patriots would be at least 14 point favorites.

New England- 35
Green Bay- 20

those are the best teams in each conference, with packers as a close second in the nfc, but there is too much that can happen and i can see one being upset.

It's clear that the Patriots are the favorite in the AFC. But, as Green_Tea said, there are some teams that could make a push if they play the Pats and find some sort of weakness in them. I know that it's a long shot to say that, but it's possible. I definitely see the Pats in the Super Bowl, and have seen them there since late June.

My original pick, back in June, was the New Orleans Saints. They still have a shot to make the playoffs, but it doesn't look like they'll be able to make the big game. The Cowboys have to think they're the favorite since their only loss is to the Patriots while the Packers lone loss has been to divisional rival Chicago. The Pack, however, has been underrated except for Favre. Favre has so many weapons and can throw passes to as many as 10 different players, including RB's, in any given game. That's a lot of threats and I don't think that any team can cover that many threats. So, I'm giving the nod to the Packers.

What a story it would be to see Favre, probably in his last season, making the Super Bowl for the 3rd time in his illustrious career against the team where he won his only Title, the Patriots. However, like the Packers, the Patriots have so many weapons on offense. This will be a great game if it happens. It saddens me to say it, being a die-hard Packers fan, but I think that the Patriots are unstoppable this year.

Final Super Bowl Score: Patriots 31, Packers 24.

Yea, well that is my current SuperBowl pick, with New England defeating Dallas in a close one.

For both of you guys picking the Packers going victorious in the NFC (Japanese_Green_Tea & Da Big Ram), I just don't see them going to the SuperBowl. Yes, their defense has been playing very well, and they have outstanding passing. Yet, they really cannot prove that they can win a game solely by running the football. I really do think that they are capable of having big run games behind Grant and Wynn, but their play-calling behind Mike McCarthy is way too weighted toward the pass, and that has got to stop by the time of the playoffs.

I see the Packers going 13-3, maybe even 14-2. They have had a fairly easy schedule so far, and that will change against the Dallas Cowboys, where arguably home-field advantage for the NFC is on the line. I do see them going to the NFC championship game, but until they prove that their rushing attack is not overshadowed, I do not see them going to SuberBowl XLII.

Oh, and if i'm not mistaken, Favre has already said that he will return for the next NFL season (maybe even a couple).

But yes, I do think the Patriots are unstoppable.

You saw what happened already this season, when the two teams faced off. As for the Cowboy's defensive plan, I would look to double Moss, bring the free-safety in on Welker, and keep a median distance on Stallworth. The strong safety would clean up, and I would bring in many blitzes. Also, notice that the Patriots haven't been using much of their tight ends lately, on the pass.

If you were to get beaten, let it happen my Faulk and Maroney, not Brady. The Pats haven't done much on the running-side of the ball, and need to even it out a bit to completely control the tempo of their games from here on in.

...You know what Barber III and Jones can do with the ball. The game would reside on Romo's performance. Look to whether he can distribute the ball and plays evenly, not make one mistake, or fold into the pressure but thinking the line will collapse (the Cowboy's offensive line has been playing outstanding so far this season).

Let me be the first to say the Colts. They kept up with the Pats despite lacking the Go to guy Marvin Harrison. When they meet in the Playoffs that will not be the case. Manning has shaken his post season problems, and I don't think they will return.

Packers and the Cowboys are the runners here. We saw the Cowboys and the Packers play. We also saw what a second string quarter back can do. I think that the Cowboys will lose the Championship because of a dropped pass into the defenders hand. Luck tends to run out in the post season. Romo is good, so this is still up in the air, but I think Farve is gonna end this one with a championship at least.

As for Manning vs Farve, that is called a super bowl game!

Highly unlikely, my friend.

The Colts are barely in the lead of the AFC South, with even the red-hot Jaguars breathing down their necks, for contention of a playoff berth or even the division. The Colts are hurting with Manning not completely in-sync with the new guys on his receiving core, and the Indy offensive line is shaky.

The Packers are hurting with their loss against the Cowboys., and notice that the Cowboys' only loss came against New England, whom are undefeated.

...Also, the Patriots are unstoppable. Pats vs. Dallas.

It seems that we are always thinking differently. The Colts are very injured, and that will not be the same in the playoffs. You also forget that the Manning Factor is awesome
