Shaylee had long since healed from the stinging bumblebees. Her coat had gone back to its shiny sheen and her temper uplifted even more towards the upcoming wintry months. That is when she arrived, during a roaring snowstorm to presently stay and wader about this land. Her head held high she pranced through the leaves, shuffling them as she meandered along happily. Things had changed yet she had not, for Shaylee was still a child in her own eyes and always would be. Her heart though was growing up faster than she and feelings grew deeper day by day for a certain ebony saddlebred stallion from across the long vast Sea. Her fascination for him was simply amazing even to the point of not flying when he was around. Through her experience with the bees the little female sugarplum fairy prefered not to ignore him, for if she did she could loose him like a certain short lived mate from her past. The wrenching feeling of screwing up all over again was something she couldn't live to bear with.

It would be different this time for sure, this she was certain of.

Now she sat upon her haunches where her bottom was seated upon a larger tree branch. He'd soon come walking past and she'd see him again, at least that's what the little flutter hoped this time.

The winter seemed to have come in full blast, the icy chill ran constantly through his body and he shivered lightly as he went. He expected to look up and see snow falling to the ground at any moment, but there was none, Just the puffs of steam from his nose as he huffed.

Bunkering down under a tree he found little solice. No it was better to keep moving, keep the blood moving. If he stayed still to long his body protested and began to feel as if he was turning into a giant ice cicle. His winter coat had grown in, thick and warm but that was little protection against this biting cold.

Sitting there still as a branch she still swayed a bit from the blustery winds that sung how they would remove her from that very branch. But Shaylee the brave and fearless kept that rump firmly placed upon that spot. No one, not even a big bad wind could uproot this flutter. She sneezed with a twitch of her nose feeling something lightly land upon it. Snow? Blinking she looked upward greeted by chilly ballerinas with pretty white petticoats as they arrived one right after another on her nose and the ground below.

"Well hello there. Bet Cel is living this up" she chirped noticing something moving on the ground closer toward her. Ebony. Yes she knew that familiar face all too well. Forgetting her long term fight with sticking to the branch she zipped off in the wind to meet him halfway. Problem is the wind pushed her a little further causing The sugarplum to dance upon the air as she flew past him trying to stop.

"Whoah hiyas handsome stran...." was all that was heard before she zipped out of sight.

Torn looked up as he heard the voice upon the wind that seemed to want to steal what warmth he had left in him. He blinked as all he saw was a purple snowflake zip past him and out into the rest of the falling snow. Purple snow flake?

Torn turned and tried to spy where she had gone. "Shaylee?" he called tenatively, wondering if the cold was now affecting his mind. "where have you gone to lass?" he back tracked his steps and looked into the snow to try and see a flash of purple.

Shaylee snorted gathering speed to catch back up with the ebony stallion. She was determined to get back there as her little body stretched to fight the wind.
Each time she tried pushing more it pushed her back. Growing with a determined whinny she lunged forward and realized all too soon the wind switched direction.

Now she flung forward where she wanted to go, but a little too fast speeding by the large stallion once more. "Hello again Torn!" she squeaked being flung forward toward that tree where she first had fought to stay with that branch. A single extension of the tree coming into view, she grasped it with her teeth as she hung there for dear life. Being swung back and forth like a ragdoll, she looked rather pitiful but at least she was in one spot. Blinking the now harsh winds out of her eyes she watched for Torn, hoping he'd help to keep her stable and less flighty. Only thing Shaylee hated about the winter was the massive winds that thought she was a ragdoll.

Torn chuckled a little as he finally spotted her, holding onto a branch and trying her best to stay there. The wind was playing a horrable game with her small body. "Poor little lassy." he said as he moved to block her from the wind with his body. "You where a right size bigger when I saw you last... You been shrinkin'?" he asked her, thinking of how horrable it would be to be that small during the winter cold. After all his much larger body was growing chill with those horrable winter winds.

Mouthing the branch she actually bl;inked back tears as the wind pushed her even more. It royally stung making her wish she never left that darn branch she was seated upon. But look who had found her there dangling like a little leaf in the midst of a violent windy day; the one and only Torn. Muffling her words as he talked to her she tried responding back, "Sh....ri...kn? I....mrph no.....umph... na." Biting a branch and trying to talk was very difficult indeed to such a tired little flutter.

When he finally blocked the wind from belting her with a few more blows she nuzzled him in thanks. "Thought I was a goner that time. Only thing I could do was hang on. I looked rather silly didn't I?' she blinked looking up towards the larger male that was now her knight in shining armor. He was protecting her from those violent swirls of air determined to throw her even further into the fray.

"Say why you out in the first winter winds anyway? Its not safe for any soquili, oh yeah Celendria is fine, but really we all freeze till the white stuff arrives ya know?" Smiling she stepped closer to him shivering. Just when did it get so darn cold she wondered.

Torn chuckled and nodded his head as she nuzzled in against him and asked him questions. Truely he couldnt tell her exactly how she had looked, flapping about. "Ah lass... you looked as a colorful ribbon trapped by the trees branch. Winter winds wouldnt let you down, but you where still the only spot of color in the forest." He said, nuzzling her back with a small chuckle. "Yeh do seem smaller though lass, sure your not skrinkin?" he asked her again.

The winter was cold and he felt her warmth against his own, which only made him realise just how cold it really was. "I should be asking you the same thing, Lassy. After all, I've the bennifit of a winter coat...you look as spring."

Shaylee nestled herself in the thick black fur that he was growing upon his strong frame. Once this whole first annoying wind of the season routine was past, Shaylee would go wild within the winter wonderland that would soon be outspread amongst this frozen land.

"What choo mean shrinkin?" she asked with a peculiar look as her head dipped downward to look at her belly and legs. She didn't look like she was getting smaller, though he was much larger than she to say the least. "Nope still little old me... though my fur just went invisible... brr its cold out here."

She mused looking up at him for he was quite tall and magnificent. Compared to the little sugarplum to her he was like a knight in one of those children's tales. The kind that rescued damsels in distress, taking them away to far away places. Oh the thought that made her chirp and coo over him right at that moment.

"Say Torn? You came to rescue the damsel in distress right? Got an idea where we can get out of this wind? I'll just bite on to this here suddle so I won't get blown away, kay?' she nodded preparing to bite onto the stirrup straps so she'd be grounded if the wind picked up again.

Torn chuckled and bent his head to nuzzle softly in against her, pressing his black velvet muzzle against her soft purple neck. "in truth I hadnt met to rescue a Damsel from the storm, but im glad I have. " He chuckled at her and kept her, for the most part, out of the winds strong winter blow.

As she latched onto his side for guidance he walked deeper into the Forest. It was slow going, not only because of the wind, but because of the snow and ice. Gradually as they got deeper into the thick of the tree's they became less, but it still was not enough. "Lass it doesnt seem like there is any respite from the winds winter chill."

He looked at her and sighed, looking around for anything that might help them at lest against the wind. A rocky outcrop ahead and to the left seemed to be big enough to safely hide them both under, and with a wall on one side would help against the winds icy blast.

Shaylee was literally frozen right now, so frozen in fact little ice trails were freezing upon her legs and tail. She shivered bitterly as each nasty gust threatened to take her off into the darkness trailing behind them. Whatever the outcome she agreed that now, this very moment was something she was disliking. She was a spring filly not a winter chicken. So just what in the heck was she doing out here freezing her little curly tail off anyway? Stupidity that's what it was. Her fearless nature that mixed with the naive childish feel that she could take on even the most wildest storm possible. Now they were stranded in this storm.

"Ca..ve...ssounds...gg..good To...rn" she chattered nuzzling him for more warmth. Wanting to let go she still hung onto him eager to get in the quiet area. maybe then they could stand together and keep warm, for her hanging like a stirrup just wasn't too relaxing.

Torn nuzzled up against Shaylee, the poor little lass was nearly frozen with cold. Here he had thought he was freezeing, she was showing signs of being more blue than purple right now, yet she was so brave to fight the wind and cold, as she had against the bees. Size didnt matter to the little one, she had more heart than anyone else he knew. He smiled at her and placed a gentle kiss against her forhead. "Come lass, the cave is this way and at lest there we will have shelter from the winds chill."

He marched through the snow with more determination than he had previously. Shaylee spurred him on, weather she knew it or not. He marched through the gale, trying to shelter her from the most of the wind as they went, which was hard as it constantly was changing directions. Finally the mouth of the cave could be seen, black against the sea of white and ice.

He entered into the cave's embrasing darkness quickly with Shaylee in tow. Out of the wind he could feel just how stiff his fur was against the wind. "Ahhh..."

Shaylee was beginning to become a soquili icicle as her teeth clamped onto his stirrup. She finally admitted the wind had won, she wasn't fond of winter anymore. Though when they moved into the sanctuary of the cave she wasn't feeling too fridgid as before, which was a good thing for the little mare. Though her legs couldn't stop quivering, she was able to stand at least grumbling as her teeth chattered.

"Whoo maybe now I don't have to freeze my butt off in here. Okay okay its still cold but I'm not being too picky right now so what the hey right?" Shaylee turned to face the gallant savior of her dreams with more fluttering in her heart than her wings could ever muster.

"Ya know now you're my dark knight in shining armor right?" she chuckled with a little trill in her voice looking up at him as if he were a dream come true.

Torn looked at her with warm brown eyes and smiled, a dashing handsom smile that spoke of a hidden blush under his dark fur and his high cheeks. He chuckled a little and clicked his tongue, though not at a loss for words he was quietly trying to figure out how to propperly respond to such a comment with out sounding to forward. After all tact was key. "Well lass, every lady needs a Knight does she not? Besides, You're my damsel in distress." He smiled at her and nudged her nose gently before turning and winking.

"And what is a knight with out tribute to his lady?" he asked her before he turned his head, and after a moment of tugging and angling his head to the side, finally managed to pluck a winter apple from the pack at his side. While it was no doubt frozen, as they both where still will chilled, it was an offering none the less.

She watched him with a peculiar grin on her face for he knew she was right. If she still sat upon that branch, she'd definitely be still there permantly part tree by now. Damsel in distress she thought to herself. Of course she was and once again just like the bees he had saved her from the mighty thing known as winter.

Sure there was ice skating and snowball fights, but there was also cold winds and deep snow. She nudged him back feeling her cheeks flush red, though her body was chilled with a frozen overtone. Looking upward she noted how open the cave was and warmer it seemed being out of the cold. The bandages from the bee attack were long gone, but yet that mended tear still ached.

Coming back to reality she watched him curiously as he retrieved the apple.

"Offering huh? Well I accept oh knightly one." she winked taking the apple as it stuck to her teeth sending a shiver up and down her spine. She forgot it was frozen and tried to eat it as fast as she could beaming up at him. "Okies here we are... ah now what?" she asked watching the snow fall heavier as she nestled closer to him for warmth.
