I picked up Mass Effect, and was joyfully playing it (the game is not any kind of shabby), and then, all of a sudden, "DISC CANNOT BE READ!"
I'm thinking, "s**t! bad press!" so I put in Gears just to make sure... Same thing...
Well, my 360 is officially ********.

the same thing happened to my Gears of War and Command and Conquer 3. but they were scratched......did you happen to scratch the discs in any way?

That happened once or twice to me before... all I had to do was wipe the disc and put it back in...

well, my discs got scratched because they were in my cousin's 360, and he tipped it over by accident. well, there is one other way it could have happened. the needle that reads the disc inside your 360 could have been misplaced when it was constructed, so it may have scratched the disc. it's happened to a lot of 360's, and many have been recalled because of that technical difficulty.

So, then. First your 360 RRoDs, then M$ sends you one that can't read discs. This supports my theory that the main problem lies in the refurbished systems that M$ sends people. It crapped out once already, what do they want from it?

That's the main reason why I brought my 360 back to the store...
That and because it wouldn't connect to the internet or anything. I remember when I opened my brand new copy of Gears of War, and there was a giant ring literally burnt onto the reader side of the disc. Man, was I unhappy...

I support the 360. It's the only current-gen console I own. I'm saving up for a PS3/Wii as we speak. xD

Just adding my 2 cents in, if you buy ANY refurburished system, you're going to have problems.

Just adding my 2 cents in, if you buy ANY refurburished system, you're going to have problems. Ooooooh. Viking, you're screwed because I couldn't imagine that you found an insurance company that would give you new 360s. Also, I believe that is DM's equivalent to "Dayum" perhaps with a reference to the grammar he used in the post before. IDK. Somebody PM him.
